Whew. I’m done!! (As in, reading TMTL but also like im a wrung out dishrag on the floor of your comments section)
There was one more thing I wanted to mention but since it’s in response to something you say in the endnotes: you mention you started this fic as “something to kill time between your barista shifts and rides home” and that you experienced a career change and the passing of someone close to you.
I didn’t know that while reading TMTL, but there’s such an honesty to the barista work, christine’s trepidation regarding her next steps/career, and the grief threading through each chapter, and i think im connecting the dots. Ah, im tearing up! I just want to send you a virtual hug! <3 i hope you’ve been well.
And the last thing: not that i needed a reminder bc this happens every time but im shook by how many people could just secretly be one of the most incredible authors you’ve ever met and they’re also like your barista or nurse or accountant etc. like just existing in plain sight in your day jobs!! While you moonlight as someone who is capable of breaking and repairing hearts!! Is this the closest we get to actual magical realism?? how do i find y’all in the wild lol!

Oh thank you, you'er incredibly sweet! I am definitely well...I mean not mentally but that was a given considering *gestures vaguely at A03 account* LOL. But I am well, it's all worked out for the better. I mean the thing is if I had a nickel for every time a pillar in my life has gone to heaven and I changed career paths whilst writing a novel I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot but it's given me trepidation for this project I'm currently on, lmao
Though it is funny you mention a writer could be hiding as a nurse or barista or accountant because that's basically been my career path. Barista, to medical personnel, to accounts. Now I'm in something completely different. It's wonderful and amazing where life can take you. Definitely lots of inspiration.
But thank you thank you so much for spending time in my little made-up world and all your kind words, I very much appreciate it!!!!

I actually don’t know what my life will be when im done reading TMTL— yes im being full dramatic!! christine and erik are rubbing off on me okay!! Like on one hand i wish i had the time to read it all at once but im also glad im getting more time with it cause it’s lasting longer but im now on ch 23 and im starting to mourn the loss already. Im feeling pre-hungover but am also trying to absorb every line into the fibre of my being?? And live in the moment??

Thank you so much. It's always fascinating to me when someone decides to live blog their read-through (fascinating, flattering, lovely, wonderful, humbling, exciting, refreshing my inbox every five seconds, grinning for days, and happy dancing in my chair, and too many other words to describe the generosity of your time, because time is our most precious commodity). Because they get to the really fluffy parts, but I see the pitfall coming and I'm like "Awww.....OH NO."
Everyone who has read what I've written has always passes it on with the caveat of "good luck" attached and I don't know whether to be flattered or slightly insulted. I'm going with flattered in that mad scientist sort of way.
As for what's next, I'm gonna shamelessly, and I mean S H A M E L E S S L Y plug my other fic Ultra/Violet here. It's not at all the same fandom, but I think it's my better work because I took what I learned in writing Teach Me and refined it and honestly I write the same stuff over and over again. I'm not proud, everything is death and the maiden. I like it, I'll consume it again and again and again and--you get the idea. But like with Teach Me, I wrote Ultra/Violet during a time of extreme mourning. Both times I was suffering death in huge ways and it brought a lot of the rawness out, but also a lot of the healing, working through the process over and over in the writing and editing and publishing, so I think that's why they hit harder.
Also, U/V is funnier, and I'm really just a puffed-up little court jester trying very hard to get a giggle out of you guys <3
