CONTAINS ZOOTOPIA 2 SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
OKAY so i have a few theories regarding the third film and what it could possibly be about.
I just received the art book and it was full of such amazing art, it really gets me excited- so go check it out if you can.
Anyway, the artbook says on a certain page that Chief Bogo is wanting to step down and is looking for a potential candidate to take the position. He clearly views Judy as his apprentice. And it also states that he feels that she is capable of fitting that role. This could also mean that this movie takes place a few years after the second.
Which brings my first point.
Could the third film have something to do with Judy becoming chief of the ZPD?
Secondly, IF this is so, what exactly does that entail for Nick and his relationship with Judy? Could this position of power put a break on their "friendship"?
If the whole premise of Z2 is that these two share an unbelievable bond that they have to realize at the end of their confession, then I feel like that my theorized plot would be scrapped.
I can TOTALLY see this being scrapped if Judy becomes chief in the BEGINNING of the third film. BUTnif they were to have Judy become chief at the END of the film, I feel like it would make more sense. Let me explain.
Judy's whole purpose was to become a cop to make a world a better place for every mammal/living thing. If she becomes chief, her arc would be finished...right? What's left for her?
Lets say Judy is trying to get that promotion during the majority of the third film. It could work for her to figure out this whole bird situation, whatever it may be, and be able to awarded the position of chief in the end.
But again, WHAT does that mean for Nick?
Zootopia CANT exist without the duo. Its all about them and somehow the plot or theme of the film ties it all together.
This brings my third point.
I have a hunch that the third film is going to be about Nick's character.
It could be about Nick's backstory (god i hope so)? It could be about Nick not liking the idea that Judy is going to become chief. Maybe he feels like he will "lose" her again once she becomes a position of power to him. And that could be another big moment to where they fall off. She wants him to be happy for her, but hes upset that she would be willing to "leave" him again because of her career. And idk maybe in the end they make up or something- who knows.
Now as far as the birds..
I literally have no idea what the plot would be about. ESPECIALLY when it comes to birds.
Birds may have been a choice because they bring the idea on expanding the world of Zootopia.
But keep in mind that birds and foxes have incredible history. They are shown together in symbolic references in religion, paintings, folklore, etc.
Maybe this next film will be about Nick's character arc as well as reaching the end of Judy's.
