Black Clover x Pokemon: The Golden Dawnstones VS The Challenger From The Spade Region

Here’s a detour from my Captains as Gym Leaders series! The Black Tauros was the Gym with the strongest trainers but with the worst win-lose ratio. The Golden Dawnstones is the gym whose trainers produce the best results, but… they have trouble with challengers from the Spade Region.

If you’re wondering why everyone in the Golden Dawn is wearing their original uniforms, it’s because I drew this a few months ago and I didn’t know what the color schemes for their new outfits would be. I had no choice but to guess when I colored Zenon though.

Regarding the Spade Region - Since it’s such a cold region, I figure everyone who lives there would be adept at raising ice-type Pokemon, along with an additional type matching their own individual preferences. So, Zenon, Vanica, and Dante would all be good at raising ice types plus one additional type that suits their personality, kind of like how they have two magic attributes.

Regarding the Golden Dawnstones - I decided on the “Golden Dawnstones” because the Golden Dawn is the only squad whose original mascot isn’t a living thing. All the other squads use either animals or plants, so they would all have a Pokemon for a mascot, but since the Golden Dawn uses an inanimate object for their mascot, I decided an inanimate object should be used for their Pokemon-ified squad name too. “Golden Dawnstones” is close to their original squad name, plus it is used to evolve two Pokemon: Gallade (an honorable knight) and Froslass (a violent spirit filled with lingering regrets). I thought those two Pokemon represent the dual meaning behind the Golden Dawn’s existence quite well.
