Before we start, minor Gore Warning
The Fair. A delight for people of all ages. If there was anything Doppio wanted to do in his lifetime was go to one. Sadly he never got the chance. Today was different though. Kira had said yes to him when he asked. He was ecstatic. “Todays the day! Haha!” he stated, getting a bag for his old boss. Diavolo was over at Buccirati’s house, helping him with Trish. “She’s going to be okay here, right Bruno?” He said, sort of scared. “She’ll be fine here Boss, go do what you’ve gotta do.” “Thanks Bruno, I’m counting on you.” He stated, giving his daughter a kiss on her cheek and leaving, walking back to the home of the cat-like stand user. “Are we all ready?” Asked the blonde, putting on some fishnet gloves. “Let me just get my bag” Said the pink haired man, after he said that, he whispered to the smaller man, “Thanks for doing this, Doppio has been excited the whole time.” Kira just nodded and gave Diavolo a small smile. “What kind of games do you think there’ll be?” Asked the ex-priest. “From what I heard, a whole lot of different ones, such as “bumper cars”, whatever those are.” Said the vampiric dead man, patting his old friend's head.
The car ride was cramped and not very good. Diego had been seated next to Funny Valentine and was freaking out, even though the Pillar Man was separating them. Diavolo had been put all the way in the back, far from where Doppio was seated and everyone was talking. There were sometimes where Kira just wanted to swerve off the road. Luckily Doppio was the one next to him, keeping him calm with his calming yet excited aura. There were multiple times where Kira would just pat Doppio’s head to calm himself. Doppio, although being of the same age as Kira, is a whole different person, it made him question things. He also acted very different from the person Doppio said was a “split personality.” He explained to Kira what had happened that fateful day. The separation of bodies ment they could be their own people. Diavolo didn’t need to speak to Doppio through his own mind and could give him hugs and apologize for everything. It would take him a while but he forgave his former boss. Everytime he would pat Doppio, he wondered if Diavolo could feel it. Once they reached their location, they got out of what would be called nowadays, a soccer mom car.
“Okay everyone, we’re here… Do be on your best behavior.” “Yeah, okay Kira, we got it.” Said the god, not knowing why he was listening to the mortal. Kira went to pay for their tickets and they all went their different ways. Kira also paid in advance for Esidisi, being that he knew Kars and him were inseparable.
Doppio was being carried by Diavolo when he asked, “Can we go with Kira? He’s a good guy and I kinda wanna learn more about him.” Diavolo thought about it and said, “Yeah sure. We just have to find him in this sea of people.” Diavolo stretched and Doppio kept looking over the people there. It was even harder since Kira usually wore a purple suit, this time, he wore a black shirt and blue jeans. After a few minutes of searching, they found him. Doppio got off of Diavolo and gave Kira a hug. Kira accepted it and hugged back. “C’mon big man, join the hug.” Kira said, motioning for Diavolo to join. “Yeah Bossu! Join the hug!” “Uhhh, no thanks.” He said, looking around. He tried to find something to point at to leave before his old other half would throw himself on him. He saw a fortune teller and pointed at it, “Look! We can get our fortunes told!” Doppio let go of Kira and walked over to Diavolo, stars in his eyes, “Whoa!” He yelled. Kira walked over to the two and gave Diavolo a head pat. They all walked over and the teller was a bit nervous. He already felt their auras and knew they were not to be messed with.
“Hello!” Doppio said. “We came to get our fortunes told.” He said with a smile. The teller looked at Diavolo, already knowing the fate of the 33 year old… Death. The other two would fall into despair after the passing. “Come sit, it seems you three have very adequate futures.” He smiled at them. The teller would tell them a fake story to keep them satisfied. Kira would try to give the teller money but he refused, only saying, “You’ll need it for later.” Kira kept trying and the man would refuse each time. Kira got bored and left with the other two. The old man muttered, “The ferris wheel is not to be trusted.” He stayed there, waiting for his next set of customers.
Everyone was scattered in the fair. DIO and Pucci had found themselves heading in the way of a roller coaster. Funny and Diego had found themselves in a shooter game. Kars was at the entrance, waiting for Esidisi. D&D + Kira were heading in the way of the ferris wheel. The gates of fate had been sealed. The bolt of one of the empty carts became loose. Under that cart stood Diavolo. Without having King Crimson or Epitaph near him, nothing could have prepared any of them for what would happen. The cart fell, crushing Diavolo. A pool of blood mixed with brain matter and the sight of bones made the two men next to him freeze. The screams and the sound of people running either away, or to the scene were all that were heard. It would have been music to Doppio’s ears if he hadn’t been in his own mind, trying to calm himself. The usually calm Kira had lost his demeanor, joining the screaming crowd. The sound of sirens took Doppio out of his own mind, knowing that this, with the death of Diavolo, would spell trouble for Kira’s well being. He grabbed onto Kiras arm and took him away from the gruesome scene. Today was supposed to be a good day. Doppio turned around to get one last look at the scene only for his heart to drop. His former boss, the person he was stuck with for all of his life, mangled beyond recognition. The sight almost made him vomit. They made their way to the entrance and just sat there. Waiting for someone in their gang to come.
DIO and Pucci had been around the area and spotted the two. Pucci tapped DIO’s arm lightly and said, “Do you not think it’s a little bit off? They seem to be in distress and Diavolo is nowhere to be found.” DIO nodded, “Maybe Diavolo is with another person right now? Maybe we should ask them.” The two walked up to the others, Pucci stepping forward, “What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you two be out and about? Where’s Diavolo?” That question, the final question, pushed them to their limits. Kira started sobbing, leaning into Doppio to find some sort of comfort. Doppio hugged him, trying to hold back his own tears. Pucci looked at DIO, knowing they had made a mistake. “Should we gather the others?” DIO asked, knowing completely well something had happened to Diavolo. Doppio just nodded, still comforting the catlike man who had put his complete trust in him. Pucci and DIO did as they were told and gathered everyone, except Diego, who had left as soon as Diavolo had been crushed.
After some explaining, the group had gotten a grasp on why these two are in such bad shape. They had witnessed the death of someone close to them. DIO knew the feeling, so did Kars. Kars had offered to drive everyone home, forgetting he knew nothing of modern day technology. Pucci would not let DIO drive so the designated driver was Pucci. Kars was made to keep Funny from talking. The trip home was quiet. Something that never happens. The only sound was Esidisi’s speech. Comforting the two.
As soon as they got home, Kira rushed to his room slamming the door behind him. Doppio dragged his feet, walking into his room, grabbing King Crimson and Epitaph and joining Kira in his room. Doppio wished not to see the room he shared with the deceased. The mood of the house was very gloomy and no one wished to be there. So that’s what they did. Kars and Esidisi went to their home, Pucci and DIO went to DIO’s mansion, and Funny went home to his wife. Leaving the mourners to themselves.
