Irving Juarez for Bluetile!
Very excited to present this new work for Cotton Branch Farm Animal Sanctuary, an amazing non-profit in Leesville, SC. Give it a watch!
King and Calhoun is a collection of 35mm photographs taken in Spring of 2016 at Charlestons busiest intersection. The zine is 36 pages printed in full color, featuring a mixture of color and black and white photos. Printed in landscape format on 80lb. matte finish paper with a 100lb matte cover.
Only two copies left of my zine, “King and Calhoun”. Also got a few “Desert Dazed” left. Get your orders in!
Tour Moments - Pt. 3
Our show in Durham ended at Waffle House, as they all should. We met some other late night diners and things got a little heated. But then our boys broke into a Waffle House chant, some staff joined in, and the situation resolved itself. Definitely my favorite night of tour.
Tour Moments - Pt. 2
Touring with Zack Mexico was the best. We love them. These photos are all from a show together with them in Durham, NC.
Tour Moments - Pt. 1
Great 12 days of touring the southeast, playing cool venues and hanging with cool people. Band pictured is Beach Bug playing in Clemson, SC at Pablo.
Shi Shi Beach/Point of Arches!
It’s hard to backpack when you have the comfort of sleeping in a van. It’s even harder when it’s gray and rainy and relatively cold. But, we had paid for the permits and decided to do it anyway, and we’re glad we did. The 3ish mile hike in was muddy, wet, and rainy. We found a spot to set up our tent and did so in a hurry during a short break from the rain. And then something amazing happened: It cleared up! We walked further down the beach to Point of Arches and checked out hundreds of starfish and sea urchins in the tide pools, and then caught an amazing sunset. The next morning was beautiful. We hiked out and made a huge breakfast. Hiking on the beach is hard.
Back at it! After flying home for two weeks to play Hopscotch Festival, we’re back on the road. We flew into Seattle, spent a day there, and then took the ferry over to the Olympic Peninsula. This part of the country is beautiful, Olympic National Park might be my favorite park yet. The highlight so far has been a backpacking trip down to Shi Shi Beach and The Point of Arches, which will be the next blog post.
Our best adventure pals Connor and Kelly joined us for about 10 days for a run through Glacier NP, up through Canada, and back down into Seattle. We saw some animals, ate some food, skated through apocalyptic traffic jams, and did some great hikes.
Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, other stuff. Not taking as many photos as I should but having some great times. Our friends Connor and Kelly flew out and joined us for just over a week, and we had some epic times. That post coming Monday!
South Dakota (pt. 2)
Badlands National Park! Never seen anything quite like it. Beautiful rock formations that sort of look like another planet. Tons of prairie dogs, and Bison! Huge Bison! We sat in the van with the hatch open and watched one of these massive creatures graze less than 15 feet from us. Pretty unbelievable. We had to check out Mt. Rushmore since we were going right past it anyway. No way we were actually going to pay the $11 to get inside so I hiked up a small hill next to the road to check it out. Also, so many motorcycles. Apparently the largest motorcycle rally in the country is nearby and happening this week...
