“Ew, you’re in love.” Todd said, making a face as he followed alongside the girl. “Obviously you do if you never come find me when you’re ready to take a hit.”

Doris blushed, but looked at Todd for a minute. “Are you scared that it’s yours?” She said softly, having heard some whispers about Bellatrix’s baby around the castle. She wasn’t one to really pay much attention to gossip, often taking it with a grain of salt, but she cared for Todd and wanted to make sure he was okay. Especially since she knew Rodolphus could be more violent than most. “It’’s my weed, you can come find me when you want to smoke it.” She teased.

“I have a cat because I love cats.” he said looking confused by her reaction. “Are you sure you’re okay? Why are you alone here? Classes ended hours ago.

“Class?” She asked, “I was withdrawing money from my account for chocolates, but then I remembered that chocolate is not good for dogs, so I decided that I should get peanut butter fudge. Do you think the Daisy would like some chocolates?”

“But come on, please?” she whined when the girl refused to go. “I need to hear everything about what went on between you and Nico but I can’t ask him because I am mad at him.”

“I can’t, my Uncle didn’t sign my permission slip this year.” She lied. He’d insisted on it, after her summer of locking herself away as often as she could. He wanted her to get out, but she was terrified of leaving the castle, even after everything that was happening inside of it. “At the ball? We-um.” The redhead blushed, “He told me he loved me. And I told him I loved him, and then he got drunk and wandered off somewhere and I got high and went back to the dorm.” Doris felt bad for lying, but the juicy bit about them saying they loved one another was true enough. “Why are you mad at him?”

“Oh,” she managed to say still looking puzzled as she walked back to the spot where she had left her books, “and I my books!” She pointed out with a smile. “I haven’t heard anything about practice with everything going on, it’s crazy how something like that can happen here, isn’t it?”

Doris looked at Amelia for a moment, not angry or upset, but there was a sadness resting just under the surface as she nodded. “Yeah, it’s pretty insane.” She mumbled quietly, picking up her bag. “I guess I don’t blame Dorcas for not setting practices in the mist of all of this, I just want to fly, I guess.”

Hugo frowned a little but then he got distracted by her question. “I actually don’t know, probably not. Dogs are tiny to them, maybe they think of them like how we think of flies.”

Doris frowned, reaching up to touch Hugo’s face, “That’s why you have a cat, I guess.”

“Well with Dumbledore gone I don’t know how safe this place will be anymore.” 

“It wasn’t safe for some of us before, either.” She said quietly, looking away.

“You know I think the school ball turned out more fun than my parents’ stupid party would have been.”

“Your parents had a party?” Doris asked politely, not sure if the girl was talking to her or not.

“Dorcas, what happened?” She asked quietly, gently taking her friend’s hand.

“I think a trip to Hogsmeade is in order after being stuck inside all week, you coming?”

Doris shook her head, “No thanks, Claire, I’m good here.” She said softly. Doris hadn’t went to Hogsmeade since before she’d been taken, herself, and with the addition of another young girl going missing, she didn’t plan to chance it. “But, please take someone with you, and be careful.”

Amelia returned to the transfigurations classroom about ten minutes after class had ended when she realized she had left her books behind. As she entered she spotted Doris mumbling something and cleared her throat to get her attention. “Her Dor, what are you still doing here?”

Doris jumped when Amelia drew her out of her delusion. “What-I?” She looked around, and saw her bag on the floor. “I left my bag here. Just came to fetch it.” She said smoothly. “Do we have practice tonight?”

Nicholas felt like he couldn’t breath. He opened his mouth to speak but no words came out, he was literally speechless at what Doris was telling him. He was honestly an idiot, he knew he shouldn’t have gone to the ball last night considering it was a full moon and all, but he went anyways. He didn’t remember much from the Ball. The last thing he did remember was Doris running out of the castle after him. Anything after that was blank but obviously Doris saw him transform. And here she was, still loving him, something Nicholas never thought she would do if she found out. “I’m not..” He shook his head, looking around to make sure no one else could hear them. “I’m a werewolf, Doris. Not Superman. Superman helps people. I could kill you and not even remember what I did the next day.” Nicholas sighed, taking her hand in his. “But thank you for not running away.”

Doris squeezed his hand, but moved her free hand to his cheek to make him look her in the eyes. “And I’m part veela. Do you know what Veela’s can do when they’re angry? They can turn into harpy like creatures and shoot flames from their hands, they can get men to do a lot of things they might not want to. But you turn into something once a month, something you can’t control. That does not define you, that’s not who you are.” She said seriously, but her tone was still soft. “What does define you, what makes you my superman, is how you help me so much. I don’t know how you can’t see it, but you make me feel safe, Nicholas. You don’t know how rare that is for me.” The redhead pressed a kiss to his lips. “I will never run away from you, Nicky. Not unless it’s some kinky game we come up with, because I love you.”

“I haven’t had the pleasure of doing so. Perhaps, you can tell me when you two are getting at it again and I can join in. Unless, your hooking up days are over now that you and blondie may be an item?” He questioned, raising an eyebrow. “Fine. I’ll come. Besides, the least you can do is share your stash with me.”

“Yeah, Nick, he’s the one I’m with, the one I want to be with.” She said softly, a small smile spreading across her lips. “I don’t have any problems sharing with you, Toddy, you know that.” Doris rolled her eyes at him, leading him towards the basements.

“Doris, are you okay?” Lee asked, moving towards her. “Can I get you anything?” He asked. She looked lost or confused and he just wanted to help. 

Doris looked towards Lee, moving over to him to stroke his face with one hand. “You’re so pretty, I will miss being pretty with you.” She mumbled, but smiled as she moved her hand up to stroke his hair. “But someone else will be pretty with you, and we can still be pretty friends.”

“Doris, are you okay?” Hugo asked, looking at the girl with worry etched on his features.

Doris nodded slowly, still in her delusional state. “Do dragons like dogs?” She mused, looking at him curiously.

She had a point. The brunette sighed and nodded a little. When was Hogwarts ever safe? The school had Voldemort as a student. If the school couldn’t recognize evil then they wouldn’t be able to now. “You think they’ll close down the school?” 

Doris shook her head. “No, I don’t think so.” She said with a small sigh. Given, Doris hadn’t been taken from the school, but she had been taken and the school hadn’t missed a beat.
