{ adira }:
“Nyx.” Adira was worried about her friend. It wasn’t like Lennox to zone out like she was, and although they were supposed to be studying together, her friend’s mind wasn’t there. They were right next to each other, and yet she seemed a million miles away. “Maybe you just need a break. Some rest. We can go get some tea, see if that helps?”
She looked up at her friend, getting firmly pulled out of her day dream. After a beat, she nodded. “Yeah, I think some tea would help.” After a moment, Lennox closed her book and took a deep breath. “And some company if you’re up for it?”
{ dorcas }:
A small frown formed on Doe’s face as the other girl spoke. She didn’t really know the other that well, but that wouldn’t stop her from worrying. “Are you alright?” This was stupid to ask, clearly the other wasn’t doing fine. But those were the first words that left her lips. “If there’s anything I can do to help, let me know.”
“I think I’m okay,” she said, blinking away the confusing day dream she’d been stuck in. “I may just need to take a break from studying for a little bit. Wanna go do something?”
{ caunus }:
“Alright, I can leave you to it if you want.” Caunus offered but made no motion to leave. “Maybe you’re just missing a detail or something.”
She handed him the book, her gaze moving back to look at the malformed spoon. “Knock yourself out. Maybe it’s just me, but that glowing green thing was pretty cool.”
{ emrys }:
“Is there a reason?” He’d pretty much ran out of the hopsital wing the second they said he could leave, even if he was leaving to go home tomorrow. As much as he loved his family, having them fawn over him for the next two weeks was not going to be entirely fun. “Just, try and clear your mind or some shit. Have you tried yoga?”
“I don’t know...” Lennox looked up at him, a small bit of shock crossing her features as she saw just who was in front of her. “I’m not exactly a yoga-to-relax kind of person. But hey, I’ve got all the time in the world to try, right?”
{ addison }:
“Have you tried not speaking so loudly? Maybe if you were quieter, everyone else could concentrate much better,” Addison commented drily, rolling her eyes as she looked up from her textbook.
She rolled her eyes and turned to look in the direction of the voice. “So sorry for disturbing you, princess, I was just thinking out loud.” Lennox closed her textbook and leaned back in her chair, her eyebrows knitting together.
Lennox had been having nightmares recently, her mind seemingly distracted no matter what se tried to do. A book sat open in her lap, her eyes staring blankly on the page illustrating the in-depth steps of creating a spell. After a moment, she brought herself back to the presence and took a deep breath. “This is the first time in a while I haven’t been able to focus,” she said with a from. “I don’t like this feeling...”

{ phineas }:
“Oh really?” Phineas arched an eyebrow. “What kind of spell? I could try and help.”
“A detection spell,” Nyx said, holding the mutated spoon out for him to see. “It’s supposed to glow when someone within the vicinity is using a an illusion spell.”
{ caunus }:
“I can help.” He offered, mostly out of intellectual interest. “I’m not Transfiguration major but it’s my second best subject so I might be of use.”
“I wanted to do it by myself,” she said, looking up at him, weighing her options. “But I suppose a fresh set of eyes could help.”
{ blaise }:
What had happened on the full moon had put things back into perspective for Blaise. As much as he tried to fit in with everyone else, it was a harsh reminder that he wasn’t the same anymore and he couldn’t let his guard down. He tried his best to keep a distance from his friends, but his friends had a way of slithering into his space anyway. “Technically if you are doing it for Ravenclaw winning, shouldn’t it be blue?” he asked her, forcing a smile to his lips. “But it looks amazing though, really suits you.” he added, not really wanting to talk about Sun to her, or anyone really.
“Of course it should be blue, but I look better with green, so we’re not going to dwell on that.” Lennox moved a bit away, just enough so she could look at him, her head tilting. “Where’s your mind at, Blackthorn? I know a fake smile when I see it. Wanna talk? Or do you want to just forget it?”
{ alice }:
Alice couldn’t remember a time she’d had so much fun. The Ravenclaw Common Room was pulsing with people, and her friends kept handing her drinks. She was sure it was a conspiracy to get her to loosen up, but it was working so she couldn’t bring herself to change. Someone had turned music on and Alice looked up from the depths of her cup of punch.
“I love this song!” She said, voice approaching something close to rapture. “Come dance with me!”
She sang along to the music as she moved through the crowd, her head bopping side to side before someone appeared in front of her, probably just drunk as she was. Lennox gasped as the other told her to dance with her and happily nodded, grabbing her hand and pulling her to the center of the room where people had made a make shift dance floor. “I’m so glad you asked!” She called over the noise. “My friends won’t dance!”
{ ivanna }:
Useful. Especially in these times. Ivanna eyed the remnants of the spoon in the other girl’s hand carefully as her mind went into overdrive with all of the ways a spell like that could assist in these dark times. “That’s clever. You want some help with it?” She was the type of person who always needed to do everything herself, someone who didn’t want to ask for help ever if she could prevent it, but offering help to others? That was a different story. “Any ideas on what’s causing it to melt instead of just holding the glow? Maybe the incantation itself?”
“I’d say yes but I’ll kick myself if I don’t figure it out alone.” She chuckled a bit, closing the book before pushing it away. “I think I just need to give my brain a break for a second. Feel like sneaking down to the kitchens for a bite to eat? Or maybe down to Hogsmeade for a drink? I think I’ll begin to permanently speak in Latin if I sit here any longer.”
{ phineas }:
Phineas frowned as he watched, eyebrows knitting together as the spell clearly went wrong. “What exactly are you trying to accomplish?”
-
“I’m trying to create a new spell,” she said as she flipped through the last few pages of the open book in front of her. “Though it’s a little more challenging than I had planned.”
{ caunus }:
Caunus didn’t want to eavesdrop or remain in the courtyard for longer than necessary but his natural academic curiosity prompted him to stop in his tracks, looking over her shoulder at the book and cleared his throat to make his presence known. “Not like that you won’t.” He confirmed, frowning a little as he tried to read the incantation. “What is it even that you’re trying to achieve here?”
-
She jumped as she heard a voice behind her, lifting her head to be able to see him. “Transfiguration extra credit,” she said casually, holding the spoon up for him to look at. “I’m trying to create a spell, but I’ve hit a bit of a snag.”
{ brynmor }:
Realization dawned on Bryn’s face when she explained that she was experimenting with spells. “Not particularly… what was it supposed to do? I don’t think many people really want spoon-melting spells.”
She chuckled as he turned down the need for a spoon-melting spell and looked down at the mutated piece of metal. “It’s supposed to glow,” she said with her eyebrows pinched together. “Well, more than it did. It’s supposed to glow when there’s an illusion spell being used around you, but it isn’t supposed to change shape.”
{ @blanilla }
As soon as Lennox spotted the other Ravenclaw prefect, and one of her best friends, she knew she had to corner him to prevent him from leaving. She tapped his shoulder as she walked up next to him, smiling as she flipped her hair. “Like the green? I told Sun I’d let her dye my hair if Ravenclaw won the game and we decided on green this time...Which, in hindsight, probably wasn’t the best color to choose this time around, but it’s too late now to worry about it.”
{ ivanna }:
Ivanna really wasn’t trying to eavesdrop as she read through her potions essay to make sure it had everything it needed but the muttering was sort of distracting her from her own work. She was sat on a bench near the Ravenclaw and looked up right as the spoon in her hand started to melt away. “What are you trying to do to it?” Being a Transfiguration major she thought that she might be able to help. “I’m pretty advanced in the subject.”
“I’m working on a new spell,” she said, a bit of frustration seeping into her voice as she slid the mutated spoon from off her hand. “It’s supposed to just glow when in the presence of illusion spells so you can know when you’re being tricked.” Looking up at the other, she sighed. “It’s extra credit for Transfiguration, but I like a challenge. I’ll figure it out eventually, I hope.”
