You know what pisses me off even more?

There are actual people who are commenting on TBL social media accounts and saying that they're glad Liz/Megan will be leaving, that they're only here for Red/James, that the show will be better without her-

Um? Have we been watching the same show?

Liz and Red are the two parts of the equation that makes TBL... TBL.

It doesn't work with just one of them.

None of these moments would have been possible without her.

Don’t understand why so many ppl are being rude to Megan and saying things like “she was bad anyways, the show will be better without her.” Like have some decency? Megan worked her ass off for years. She is not her character; it’s not her fault the writers went this way with the story. If anything, she’s a champion for putting up with that ON TOP OF the constant hate from “fans” who simply don’t know the difference between the actor and their character. The show will definitely not be the same without Liz; it’s a huge loss. How some people don’t see that is baffling to me.

This is why I hate when they drag out a show as long as they can.

To be honest, The Blacklist could have been successfully (as in, doing the characters, the relationships, and the premise/story justice) wrapped up within 5 maybe 6 seasons.

I don't care if Elizabeth Keen's mother was the Virgin Mary herself. It doesn't take almost a decade of full TV seasons to successfully conclude a story. It's just not necessary. How much of the past 8 seasons have been made of actual good writing? And compare that to how much of it was just retcon after retcon, stupid arc after stupid arc, and filler filler filler?

I'm really trying to be as positive as I can (i.e., remember how many ACTUALLY talented writers have gifted us with absolutely amazing lizzington fics over the years), but I think we're still allowed to be upset. Yes, the creators/producers/writers/actors/etc don't owe us anything. Yes, no one forced us to watch the show, make edits, write fics, etc.

But that doesn't change the fact that The Blacklist has been a significant part of many of our lives throughout the years.

I have many great memories of my experience in this fandom, and as upset as I am with how things turned out, I don't regret coming to love this show, because it brought me aboard the lizzington ship, and I made so many shipper friends.

This is the most invested I've ever been in a show/ship. I really believed in it, and I always stayed hopeful.

The show may go on, but for me, it really did end in 3A.

I doubt I'll be active on Tumblr at all once Megan leaves, but you can bet your asses I'll be lurking on AO3 to re-read our treasure trove of fics, to read any (hopefully) new fics that appear, and to maybe even continue writing, myself.

I know there are a lot of toxic "fans" out there too, but my experience with you guys has been nothing short of fucking fantastic.

I love and appreciate you all.

We've all said it a million times before, but really:

We'll always have fanfiction.

tptb may take our Lizzie away from us, but they can never pretend these moments never happened.

Elizabeth Keen deserves better

Elizabeth has been the flip-floppiest character on The Blacklist and I resent the writers for it. She goes from not caring about who Red really is (“I don’t care for who you were I care for who you are and that’s the only thing that matters”) to trying to convince him that such is among the questions to which she “deserves answers.”

I feel that the writers are doing her an incredible disservice. We’ve seen the potential Red and Liz have together in the early seasons, especially 3A. They WORK on-screen as a team. They have the most chemistry out of anyone on the show. They seriously BELONG together. Given this, I am confused as to why the writers insist on piting them against one another every fifteen seconds. Where is the fun in that? Sure, maybe it was a half decent idea when Tom was still around. However, at this point it’s honestly quite annoying and it’s making fans hate Elizabeth when she deserves so much better. Again, fans know how good they are together, even those who aren’t Lizzington shippers.

The Blacklist seriously needs to go back to its roots. STOP piting Red and Elizabeth against each other. They’re a (married) team. They work sooooo well together. Please stop depriving the show and its viewers of this incredible dynamic!Both them and the fans deserve better. Stop trying to convince me that Elizabeth hates Red twenty seconds after her admitting to him that she loves him.

@ashesandmint and I was just talking about this the other day, about how much her answer-obsession is in fact fueled by the need to dismantle this “block of secrets” that’s (understandably) preventing her from establishing a close, intimate relationship w/ him. So maybe it was not a coincidence that right after he emotionally unmasked himself, she just dropped the whole “I want names and dates” angle and told him she loved him. He finally let her in in his own way and it mattered more to her than some info sheet from the past. It was such an amazing development for both of these characters, imo.
