I’ve been thinking about The Mandalorian and Grogu and it’s a movie build on small heart warming moments. The Mandalorian is this seemingly cutthroat guy in expressionless armor that’s almost like an unstoppable force, but there’s such a warmth in how he treats people.
Like the sandwich guy, sure Mando’s trying to pay him for information but he never tries to hurt him and only uses a little bit of intimidation to get pieces of information.
And then how kindly he treats Rotta the Hut after he finds out that he’s a pretty good, honest, guy. Mando tries to warn him when he finds out Lord Janu is going to put him in a battle to the death; and he’s not even mad that Rotta calls the guards and helps him fight all the monsters anyway. After that the two of them kind of form a bond that Mando holds up all the way to the end of the movie. He doesn’t even tell Colonel Ward that he found Rotta at all when he brings in Lord Janu.
It’s also in how the movie is suddenly a Muppet movie after Mando gets kidnapped from his home. The movie is now Grogu and the Anzellan techs on a rescue mission to save Mando. And they get on the tiny ship and are blasting through the galaxy. Then when the forth Anzellan that was kidnapped with Mando meets back up with them and they’re all so excited; they help Mando escape and promise that they’ll comeback with help. It’s so good that that actually pays off and they’re the ones that bring back Colonel Ward and the gang.
Then when Grogu is trying to take care of Mando in the swamp, the movie almost becomes about the atmospheric beauty. The swamp is actually kind of pretty and we see Grogu make an attempt to keep Mando alive. And then we see the little atmospheric swamp hut Gatori has and they are kind to Grogu. I loved that that’s where the poison antidote came from.
It’s all the small moments of goodness that made this movie work for me. It was a series of events where the characters chose to show kindness when they didn’t really have to.
Decided to redraw my tangled redesigns but now inspired by the 1630s because that's my new hyperfocus...

sweet sweet dream
"father. I have a bomb."
The fact that Din Djarin, hardened Mandalorian warrior and bounty hunter, in the middle of a fight to the death against a gigantic venomous water snake that wanted nothing more than to eat him... Took one look at his son holding a grenade and that's what made Din react with "... Dank ferrick..."
Just thinking about it makes me cackle 😂😂😂
Din is such a daddy and knows his little gremlin so well! 😍🥹
(Also have to say I'm not a parent yet, but my heart also kinda stopped when I saw Grogu packing up grenades to take on the trip to rescue his daddy 😅)
saw this edit on tiktok with benophie as clois where sophie was sophie kent and benedict was benedict lane and now i can’t unsee it! SOMEONE WRITE THIS!!
Oh my... Don't touch me I'm emotional!! It was SO good! I love this type of movie so much, where you can watch the routines but also how the action is built in a way that feels logical: like, you see a decision made, and then you got the consequences that come with it afterward.
It's a movie that tells you a story, which, as it is made, cannot have a second part, but it takes time to set the context in and at the same time, it has a good pace. The kind of rhythm that takes you gently by the hand, whispering "Follow me, I have something to show you" and you get involved in the story smoothly and you don't even realize you are already immersed in the events.
You have blasting moments but also a day to day pace. It's a movie to watch when you feel the need to disconnect with everything else.
And now, I'll have to watch it a second time 🥹
Never forget to stretch before you do anything
