I personally believe Spamton was told by the guy on the phone to expand his operation to be much more aggressive and shady with his advertising. It isn't uncommon for people running unscrupulous websites to get lackeys to redirect traffic to their operation (via spam, robocalls, etc), and Spamton could have been one of those lackeys, getting a cut of the pay. This would fit with both his puppet symbolism and his status as a "salesman" - he was as much of a salesman as an Amway distributor would have been. He was a small link in a chain that all led up to someone bigger. This is the reason you always see him talking about random cheap products and not his beloved Cungaderos. He wasn't the boss. He was the downline.

This is a real con that people really pull. A scambaiter named Pleasant Green examined one to see what went on inside it. He paid a guy a few bucks to get in and was told how to spam people with the computer program he was given. I can see how somebody in the nineties would believe this.

This couldn't last forever, obviously; the world's first adblocker was released in late 1996. If we take Spamton's dialogue as proof that he got his final call in early 1997, he could have been notified that the whole operation had become unsustainable and let go.

To any Susie or Terezi cosplayers out there: Popeye candy cigarettes are completely indistinguishable from sticks of chalk. If you're interested in pretending to eat chalk while on the con floor (as some Mouthwashing cosplayers do with their Dragonbreath) then you've got a good option right in front of you.

If you want to dye the chalk sticks red, put a bit of food colouring and water in a mister/sprayer (don't use too much or they'll melt) and leave them to dry out for a bit.

Okay, but also: if you see a Muslim praying in public and they have something in front of them, like a purse or a bag or something like that, you can pass in front of them, but pass in front of that object.

it’s called a sutrah, and it’s meant to act as a physical barrier between the person praying and someone who might happen to pass in front.
