Genuinely makes me sad, but I feel like someone has to say it once? There’s a serious bias and stigma against OCs in the K Fandom that disheartens me to a huge degree. It honestly makes me a little sad to ever ask someone to RP with Aedre, given how little attention she receives in comparison to my Nagare or even my Douhan and Anna. Douhan had about 15 people wanting to interact within the day I made her blog, while Aedre’s been around for about a year.
She hasn’t even hit 50 followers and I”m not trying to say it’s the follower count that matters. It’s the fact that most OCs aren’t being given a chance. I know beautifully written, well-structured OCs that the creators have put blood, sweat, and tears into, and yet they receive little to no recognition for that effort. It’s a huge slap in the face, you know?
It really makes me not want to RP, really. Not just on here, but as a whole, if I can’t meet that many people who don’t show that respect that I think those of us who’ve worked so hard deserve. I’m not trying to be conceited, but I am proud of the effort I’ve put into Aedre, in the years I’ve taken to flesh her out, develop her, and to write as her.
So when that effort is ignored, or throw aside, well: Try to imagine slaving over a piece of art, and someone not bothering to take a glance and simply tossing it into the trash while calling it worthless. That’s some semblance of how it feels. JJust once, just once–I’d like for someone to ask me if I’d like to RP, not the other way around. I don’t like feeling like I’m pulling teeth when I ask to plot something out with my OC, and I don’t like feeling as if I am irritating a person just to ask if we can thread together.
