[♙]: “…Are you satisfied now, Sukuna…?” The ex-blue didn’t so much as raise her voice, or make any sort of strong reaction other than flinch when the palm of the child’s hand came into contact with the cold skin of her cheek; Mukuro could feel the stinging warmth left after the slap, and she had no doubt a faint red imprint was beginning to form on her porcelain pale skin.
Although the woman should’ve been angry, she felt no reason to be, as she assumed Sukuna’s actions were out of him looking for a similar reaction from the elder Green– She felt as if he’d continue to rebel if she raised her voice, or shown any inkling of displeasure; Most children were like that.
“…I understand…you’re angry because you think we’re trying to control how you live…” She then stated, with no hint of uncertainty in her quiet voice, as though what Mukuro was saying were cold, hard facts–
However, the reason for her certainty, was that she could relate; it was common for parents in wealthy families to dote on their children to an unbearable degree, and though the silverette was older, she too wasn’t spared from that fate of having her life hand-picked for her from the moment she was born.
What kind of question was that?
Did she honestly think that he would be satisfied with himself after doing something so unethical as slapping her across the face? Maybe, just maybe, if she fought back if he didn’t genuinely like her he would have been.
Sukuna stared at her through a softening gaze; his eyes had previously been burning with anger, frustration, determination but now, Mukuro was treating him with such gentle kindness despite his actions. He couldn’t remember the last time someone had been so nice in response to his attitude; in fact, he didn’t think anyone had ever reacted in such a way.
“That’s all adults care about.” The snarky edge to his tone cracked and faltered; Sukuna’s eyes drifted to the reddening mark left upon her cheek. She seemed the same as all the others up until this very moment. “They only want you to think and do as they please. Adults don’t really care. I hate them!”
Most of them. A lot of times, she acted the same as those he despised. He wondered if he would grow up to be the same.
