Maker knows what the cook wants done with ‘em –❞
Green eyes flutter at the Commander's insistence to help her, although it seems just as much an excuse to get away from his office as it is to genuinely help. Either way, Dove appreciates it and smiles in return, letting the crate slip easily into his hands. She's not going to say no to free help, let alone from someone so eager to offer it.
"Well thank you, Commander, that's much appreciated." She nods her head politely, and can't help but snicker at his statement. "Young lady? That's a new one." She isn't old by any means, but Dove isn't foolish enough to think she's really young anymore. His question makes her laugh again, shoulder shrugging and head nodding as she opens the door to his office. "I'll let you know when we get there." She isn’t the only cook that worked for the Inquisition, but she is the one in charge and will be the one helping the Commander figure out what to do with all those cabbages.

“A-Ah…. no I don’t think I need any more recipes than this… thank you.” This one was just going to dust somewhere on his house till she needed it back, smile that came to his lips was nervous in nature as he worked up the nerve to come out with what was bothering him, and when he finally did, he hoped she wouldn’t think he was being odd.
“Mh…” He cleared his throat as if that would help loosening the knot on his throat and proceeded in a slightly hoarse tone. “Say… do you think you’ll be busy tonight?”
“Tonight? Hmm...” Dove thought for a moment, genuinely wondering if perhaps there was something she had to do. Sure she was on vacation, but that didn’t stop her from keeping herself busy. She pursed her lips for a moment, and eventually smiled, shrugging her shoulders.
“I don’t think I will be, no. Why do you ask?” She folded her hands neatly in front of herself, head tilting with curiosity. If Dove were being honest, she had a vague idea what he was getting at, but didn’t want to make any assumptions. Besides, he seemed so nervous, it didn’t seem right saying anything and taking the moment away from him.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I appear to have gotten turned around.” She had never been to the Commander’s office before, never had any reason to, so Dove knew she really must not have been paying attention to wind up there. Offering the Commander a polite smile, she nodded in greeting, arms full with a large crate of cabbages. “I was looking for the kitchen but I guess I wasn’t paying attention.” She laughed softly, shifting her weight. “Sorry for disturbing you Commander, I’ll be on my way.” Nodding again, Dove stopped to adjust her grip on the crate, obviously struggling to carry something so cumbersome, but not about to ask the Commander of the Inquisition troops for help.

“Oh, wow, you’re—her.” Meeting the Hero of Ferelden hadn’t been on Dove’s list of things to do that day. If it had been, she certainly would have made more of an effort to look presentable, instead of covered in flour and egg from baking all day. Clearing her throat, she hastily wiped her hands down the front of her apron before striding across the kitchen to greet the Warden Commander.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you ma’am, I’m sorry about the mess it’s ah...” She trailed off, looking quickly around the kitchen. All old stone, most surfaces covered in something; food, cooking supplies, seasonings. “—It’s usually not this bad in here, I promise.” Another clearing of her throat, before Dove offered a sheepish smile. “What can I do for you?”

“Ah…. no this is fine.” He couldn’t say he was bothered, more awkward than anything. He had a printed recipe he probably would never use and he felt a little bit guilty about it. He wished things were not so difficult, admittedly he had never been a smooth guy, an affectionate lover he could be, but when interest was growing he didn’t know how to approach the matter at hand, nedless to say for a thirty year old cop…it was embarrasing.
“Thank you…” How smooth Yang Seungbae. How smooth.
“Well, if you’re certain. You’re welcome.” She smiled and nodded, deciding to drop it. He was a strange one to begin with, so Dove wasn’t that surprised by his behaviour. Seungbae was nice at least, and had been a lot of help during her trip to Korea, so she had very few negative things to say about him. “If there are any other recipes you want just let me know, okay?” Dove smiled warmly, tucking a tussle of blonde curls behind her ear.

“I will, I promise!” he chuckled under his breath, crossing his heart in hope that it would bring Dove some small amount of peace. All this concern for nothing… It was like being back at the lab, honestly.
“And yes, but in Norway the councils actually make an effort to grit the roads! I just don’t want you to slip, Miss Barnes.” True to his word, Elec was still standing by her side, just in case. “Everybody else has closed up shop and gone home, you know.”
“Elec, please. It’s Dove. Miss Barnes makes me sound so old.” She wrinkled her face, showing the crow’s feet that were beginning to etch their way into the corners of her eyes. They quickly smoothed away as she relaxed though, rolling her eyes with a smile as she returned to sweeping the front of her restaurant.
“I’ll be closing up once I finish everything I have to do today, don’t worry.” She normally closed at around 10pm, which gave her enough time to clean and prep things for the next day. 6am to 10pm, six days a week. Tuesday’s were her days off, which was just fine with her. “You don’t have to stand out here with me you know, I don’t mind sweeping by myself.”
