i was so excited to see the video, i thought he was going to asnwer the bggest question of all. HOW BIG OUR THESE BUGS! so in rage and spite i imediatly went and calulated it out and im still pissed about my answer because it’s both large bugs and small bugs.  if we try to ID flowers, the ROSES are are closest referance, the shells at the blue lake cant be used as they may be from snails or something. but is those red flowers are roses then we got big bugs.  BUT maybe those are also magic bug flowers without an equal to our world THERFORE! the most mathamatical way we can do this is the city of tears.  WATER CANNOT FORM DROPLETS UNTIL A MASS IS REACHED. as it is leaking from the cave ceiling, it must be water raining down at a scale equal to our size. otherwise it would be more like in a Bug’s Life with massive drops Big bugs it is folk!

Honestly, Eevee DOES kinda fit, since an Eevee can become a variety of things. Likewise, Ghost can he who you want in game as well. You can go straight to The Hollow Knight and seal the Infection, fulfilling your purpose and remaining empty, or you can develop friendships with other characters and do a bunch of things around Hallownest, and becoming a vessel with emotions and goals. Man, I thought way too hard about this.

The pokedex also loves to mention how ‘Unstable’ Eevee’s DNA is…I bet a void Eevee even moreso

\so uh, i always do a PMD au of everything and desided to pull up my list for yah for idea cause i put a lot into it while zoning out at times. Spelling is not a strong point of mine. but like i litterly have a doc full of this just because there are so many charaters and i Still havent filled it out completely  kinda copied and paste with some edits for easier reading but its very much a mess of rambles from 3 am

Elderbug: duncsparce. or the drampa, but one of these is battle worthy and the other is not. Zote: subbull. known to be cute to women??? but also look at that face and tell me its not a zote. he can even be missing half an ear for that short horn of his

Bretta: uh something cute puggyand soft, gotta. like nidorina, or clefairy, maybe raichu? one that might have evolved early to try and prove herself wothy of affection, but now is locked out of any good battle moves and cant fight well. now THat’s a way that makes me sad on her backstory. no on wants her on the team, oh she’s nice as a person but we dont need to have an excort mission while exploreing. Clefable? yeah that sound good azumarill has the best silhouette match tho.. why is she so hard??

god tamer’s beast is a philoswine. or a dolphon. godtammer herself... weavil? bisparp would work REALLY well but i littelry will try to make everyone bisharp if im not careful Sly: not a lot of fly pokemon but Celibi is too funny. but depending on the Nailmasters other option is spinda nailmasters. they gotta be a trio, and my first thought was the beast trio. or umboar, hairyaama. but a trio of Pangoro, Beartic, and Usraring with a tiny spinda that holds a nail bigger than his bigger bear students and SPINS LIKE A TOP. is too perfect tho we are getting two more bears but they arnt a trio, but maybe sheo might be one of them, he was the “best of them” after all.

we got MANTISSAS. Szizor, Lurmatis, Leavanny. traitor lord is unevoled syther. of corse the fungel wastes are full of paras and other mushroom Pokemon, but the paras make EVERYONE uncomfortable..i know paras is like, a cicada, but i always thought they were crab mantis. 

Quirrel is a solipede, SBaBL says so. but in an actual game you know they would make him a lucario. Mononmon is that ultra beast jelly.

god the great knights huh actually some of those would fit for the five knights. that Silverfish one for Grey mourner. Buzzswole for Orgim. guzzlord for hedgemol. kartana for drya, i dont want to make isma Celesteel tho...

someone is tyranatar but im not sure who, maybe one of the knights. ooh aggron would work for hedgeamol actually but i want to make the knights a SET. bah rhyphier for DD, the ONLY time i have considered that one for anything other than the dex entrie.  hmm could do some OP strong pokes. we got a lot of bulky pokes to pick from too many options, tho i would like to NOT mess with ultra beast if i can help it hmm Hedge:aggorn Dung: rhyphier Isma:liligent Drya:hakamo-o? Ze’mr:phermossa why do we only have two bee pokemon? we need more options for hive knight! he cant not be a bee! are we supost to make him a beedrill with a fur coat.  Seer is a Venamoth, easy, but a case can be made for xatu Radiance and markoth are a bit tricky cause they BOTH could be Volcanrona, but we cant have them both be that.  Dusktox for markoth then? wish i could think of better colors for him cause we he go by fluff he’s s shiftry, masquerian?holy shit did i spell that right first try in not making Brumm a hypno im not i dont care if he’s got fluff im not doing it not a lot of options for WHite lady, a shiny trevenant is the most on point, exspesialy with phantumt vessels being popular. but a Tangrowth is like, the best things ever exsically with SNOM PK because what else can he be? slowking? Florges might also be an option for WL too Midwife by name and job, is like, kangacon or chanscy. but like, she would very well be a scolipede is not for quirrel’s dibs. Dragonair could work if you lean into the “aw cute it’s adorable OH SHIT DRAGON POWER, heck we could go all out and be rayzazza, but that new seciscorch could work.

Ariados fits hornet, but. Bisharp is like, too good. we got all these spider pokemon and here i am going, Bisharp is soo good tho, it’s a knight and protector and SHARP god i want an abasol in here and she would work for it but only kinda she would be a raboot in a real game, great now i cant think of anything else it fits too well. 

i’ve seen ideas for ghost and hollow but im far too firmly in the “type Null and Silvally” boat. they cant evole unless loved, and hollow being a silvally just makes it hurt even MORE. also im just here for the “are we sure that’s even a pokemon?” gag. i mean i love mimikyu ghost, but it makes hollow harder to do.

as much as sableye is my fave, myla is a drilbur, or if we go by lights, we got illimuse, or chichou or marreep. all are cute and perfect.

so. what’s up w/ the “higher beings, these words are for you alone” thing in king’s pass? because my initial interpretation was “higher beings” referred to… “intelligent”/cognizant bugs, as opposed to like. tiktiks. whatever was out in the wastes. etc.

and the signs you see in the wastes were like, welcoming newcomers to hallownest in a kind of… ingratiating way. “congrats, you made it, you’re so smart. obey our laws and share in our riches or perish.”

but “higher beings” are like. gods/godlike. so who were those signs for??? bc the pale king doesn’t seem to have appreciated other divine presences

higher beings as spoken by PK are implied to refer to the inhabitants of Hallownest, so likely those he had a hand in ‘uplifting’ and those who chose to come to his kingdom to bask in his god-aura, that sort of thing

his citizens/subjects, in other words

he notably does not use higher beings to refer to other gods, if i remember correctly, he only refers to radiance as a light ( No blazing kin. Only one light shall shine against the dark. ). he barely talks about other gods at all aside from that one thing really

that’s what I thought at first? but there was something (and it may have been something in the code, a developer note thing? I found it in a mossbag video now that I’m finally actually getting around to watching those) which iirc outright said that higher beings are gods/godlike

like it did make sense to me, the way you explained it, but now it doesn’t

unless you mean PK was using higher beings in one way, and others would have used it differently?

well, think of it this way

It makes sense that PK wouldn’t use ‘higher being’ for other gods, because he is himself a higher being. To a god, especially when you actively dethroned another god and kicked her into Forgetfulness Jail, and also you don’t want to acknowledge other higher powers existing, they’re not really like. Higher than you. They’re just your coworkers/rivals/competing powers/etc.

He doesn’t even use that term for his wife, arguably the person he’s closest to, and the White Lady judging by Godseeker’s comments is a higher being of significant power that avoids her attunement. So, to him, the term is either not worth using or is used for something else.

‘Higher being’ can in fact be used (and is possibly used in game but idk I’m basically running out the door and I’d have to check later) as a term for a god.

However, a bug of elevated intelligence that the Pale King uplifted and enlightened would also be considered a ‘higher’ being, I would think, given that it comes from being educated/taught/being in the proximity of a god. Given that the Pale King essentially shed himself and died his first death to become something closer to a ‘mortal’, it would also make sense in context that the higher beings he refers to are specifically the inhabitants of his kingdom, the ones he granted knowledge and civilization to….more or less.

So both meanings can be true. It’s just used differently because the context around it matters. Language!

it’s uh, very much suspicious. Because so many of us believed it. So much of it has been proven to be untrue. There ARE other kingdoms and whatnot. Bugs have sentience elsewhere. But new players bugs that have wandered in that were effected by the wastes arnt going to know that. Way to take advantage of that!

You have a good point there but it's usually agreed that the lifeblood and lifeseeds are a much more benevolent force, they help you out when you get them (which is kinda taboo iirc to consume lifeblood?) and they flee from you unlike what you'd expect of a parasitic entity so.. I like to think it more as a symbiotic relationship than anything I guess? As a big contrast to the lightseeds and the infection. {At least that's what I've seen and my take but opinions might differ}

yes totes it does seem like the big lifeblood god is pretty chill!! defs not a parasitic entity.

the fact of the matter is that it’s still reanimation via a conditional relationship with a god, though. even if the lifeblood god has no ill intent, the power imbalance is still there.

Actual depiction counts for this too- Lifeblood isn’t just depicted as a substance in association with a god, it’s also broadly considered a healing substance with invigorating processes. If the lifeblood/Vessel depiction is more akin to the Broken Vessel’s infection then yes- there is an innate relationship there that positive or not that includes the lifeblood being core to the vessels survival. If the lifeblood god is in any way actively connected that does make the vessel, unfortunately, subject to the will of another greater being. 

But if lifeblood can be a healing substance apart from the god, and is being used as such (and works on the vessel, which Its questionable whether the broken vessel is beyond the point of saving in this manner) then i suppose you could argue for the safe revival of the broken vessel without that dependence on lifeblood upholding them. Similar to how Ghost simply absorbs the lifeblood for further life force, maybe the lifeblood could be used as a means of healing/allowing the broken vessel to heal rather than the driving means of survival.

With that said, the state of the broken vessel really implies such isn’t possible, and the mechanical means by which we see the lifeblood operate doesn’t really support that- Ghost sort of just contains the lifeblood separate to themselves. Which kinda implies the lifeblood isn’t true healing or vigor but an additional level, it makes you feel healthier without actually truly being healthier. Lifeblood doesn’t heal Ghost at all, just staves off death. Which could be a side effect of a vessels biology, but I guess the point I was going for is that you could theoretically play around with the nature of lifeblood to avoid the aspect of reliance

i suspected that the reason the PK baned it probably had to do with the implications of joni’s blessing. Sure you got a health boost out the wazo but now you cant heal. which seems to be the result of Too Much Lifeblood. Taking the, “feel healthy without making healthier”. is similar to a dangerous drug route almost.  ...thats probably what happened to Joni.  oh just slap some lifeblood on and you’ll feel fine. oh it wore off? slap some more on! until the body ends up relying on it entirely. she probably would have warned ghost not to take it if she could remember the consequence of it.

i still really dont understand why there isnt official hk merch of just... all the charms as pins like.. they are MADE for that and i really frickin want them and overcharm myself so that bumping into a stranger on the streets will kill me immediately

Honestly so many charms would make great pins. Why even a few aren’t done is surprising, but I suppose that HK technically doesn’t have a ton of official merch

i actually have gone through and made a full set, been testing materials, and i’ve gotten them pretty sturdy, and i’ve been selling them at ten dollars a charm. (with a buy two and get your pick of a void heart or kings charm in for free.)

i was surprised Team Cherry hasn’t made official one, but i was raised with “if you dont like it and cant find it, make it yourself” and so i do.

can sleep and  @palossssssand grub drop wont leave my brain alone. so like 5 in the morning of no sleep rambles here.

(i brought up the nosk grub mimic thing, cause most of them are in deepnest.) nosk is probably the fasion gay. they can perfectly copy and disguise themself as other bugs. ever since you brought up shipping them i keep seeing similaritys. but like both nosk and the grub mimics ARE mimics. 

youre worried about teh collector being problematic for collecting grubs HA. theyre perfectly safe and alive, meanwhile nosk has half a dozsen vessels hanging from their ceiling  im too tired to edit a photo but that “ive never done anything wrong in my life” “i know this and i love you” with the collector and nosk. I mean, i stuck fimly in the camp of nosk being some kind of taxidermist in this au because it just FITS. they probably make dolls too, the real creepy kind (i make dolls why)

the collector thinks the mimics are just as adorable and is freaked by having more kids to watch over. good thing theyre demon spawn and are very capable of taking care of themselves.

lost my train of thought but anyway. seeing how the collector keeps the weaker enemy bugs and goes on about a safe place for them. makes me belive in the, kingsmould knightly duty of protecting the weak and the collector being an absolute mess but definitely doing their best at it. (after all kingsmouds do TWO MASKS of damage while the collector does one and tosses bugs at you, they arnt really a fighter, but those glass bowls are super sturdy. in fact, that grab attack sure makes it seem like they arnt trying to fight so much are wear you down and catch you.

I know the nickname “Hollow” for THK is just meant as a cute simplification of their title into a name but on a serious note I feel like the best course of action who be to forsake the title entirely you know?  Since yeah, “Hollow Knight” would be a familiar name to them but at the same time if we’re talking post-ending like… They’re gonna be Painfully Aware they aren’t “hollow” :(

ive been trying to find that word for AGES.  i KNOW some human langue has a word for self sacrificing to like “end harm to others” like how Romeo and Juliet’s death ended the feud. (not on purpose tho) The closet i seem to get is altruism, maybe. But i feel the parallel to war hero ending a battle at their own cost is far closer to their proper title. (they were basically a child solider, brand that unto the pale kings legacy.) 

we should be calling them just, The Knight, but we already have to share that with ghost. i mean we could swap from hollow to hero. But like, that’s a bit too positive of a word. NOT that they dont deserve that title. they do. but well, its a hollow victory, a hero of a hollow victory is a bitter biting name. maybe we *can* keep calling them hollow. The Hollow Knight. The Hollow Victory. It fits with the great cost. They all paid so much all for nothing. but yeah most words when searching arnt TITLES and its been driving me NUTS. yes google i know im describing self sacrifice im looking for what we CALL A PERSON THAT DOES THAT. we might have to pull form old english or other languages cause i KNOW there is a word for this i have SEEN it before. maybe old hebrew. time to start puling up the jesus metaphor. go to the OG martyr back before it got claimed by region stuff.
