You step into what was assumed to be an abandoned pizzeria.

Sonic’s Pizzeria.

It was strange, it was so popular and then it just.. lost popularity.

You were expecting to find an empty building with everything being run down, but the second you walked through the doors.. you could hear it.

Talking.

You couldn’t make out the words, not yet, at least…

As you walked closer, you could start to make out words, but not for long.

After what felt like a skip in time, you woke up in the middle of a group of.. robots…? They all seemed familiar.

One of them was.. Sonic..? Sonic but with a top hat, bow tie, and rosy cheeks. Besides him was Mario and Yoshi, Mario having rabbit ears and a cape, and Yoshi having a bib reading “LETS EAT”! On the other side of them was what appeared to be Tails with a bow tie. They all had the same rosy cheeks.

“ Move, you mechanical buffoons.. “

You heard it, a strange raspy voice. Sonic and Mario parted, and you could see what appeared to be sonic but golden, black and red eyes, some strange black goo running down his face.. he had a maroon bow tie, top hat, and cape, and was holding something behind his back.

This… is going to be one very interesting experience…

You’d recently gotten an old sonic disc. It was blank, stored inside an old plastic box with “SONIC DISCOVERIES” sloppily written on it with a blue sharpie.

Now you were at home, sitting down and getting ready to boot this weird game.

As you picked your controller up, focusing on the scenery of green hill, you saw it. Sonic. He looked.. off.

His face was hidden by shadow, the only thing visible being his eyes.

What you didn’t expect was him to look over at the screen, almost looking through it at you. It was unsettling.. but the panic set in when he disappeared.

Was this a hacked or possessed copy? You didn’t exactly doubt it, considering the condition you found it in.

Your question was answered the second he reappeared o; the screen, facing you directly. Despite not having a mouth, it was clear he was smiling.

“ Well it’s been awhile since someone has booted this old game up! “

Despite sounding monotone, there was still a friendly tone laced in his voice.

Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad…

A flash of blue and white light appeared in Xenophanes domain, the spot the flash appeared leaving being a golden hedgehog.

Tucking the phantom ruby away, Dr Golden began wandering the strange area, something he was not used to.

This would be the first time he managed to save enough energy in the ruby to travel to another universe, he found it interesting. What he found most interesting were the small shards of crystals that littered the floor.

[ he wasn't paying too much attention, but the flash made him flinch a bit. Xeno was.. honestly a bit zoned out beforehand. ]

"What the-"

[ he glanced around, wondering what caused the flash.. he started stepping slightly, definitely curious about it. ]

"Who goes there..?"

Dr Golden perked once he heard the unfamiliar voice.

An area that was inhabited by someone..

That’s helpful.

He began making his way towards Xeno’s voice, throwing his cape behind him as he walked, his robotic legs making small mechanical sounds as he took step after step.

And soon enough, he was looking up at Xenophanes, looking small and pathetic besides the eight foot being.

[ he looked down, slightly intrigued by the person standing in front of him.. he definitely didn't look like the average mobian, and.. he wasn't intimidated. This would be interesting. ]

"Well, well, well.. what do we have here?"

[ he was smirking, keeping a hand on his hip. He was leaning down slightly.. he just wanted to get a better look at the hedgehog. He looked golden up and down, just taking in every detail he could get. ]

Golden stood with his arms crossed, seeming unphased by Xeno’s appearance. Bored, even..

Strange…

His own gaze was quickly scanning over Xenophanes, examining him and engraving every detail into his brain.

He was counting possible weak and or blind spots as well..

“ Someone from… another world, I’ll say.. “

The way he spoke was slow, quiet, and slightly drawn out, like he was carefully picking out each word as he went on.

[ he removed his hand from his hip, crossing his arms ]

"And what's your name, hm?"

"Maybe if you humor me enough, you'll leave this alive."

He gave a slight eyebrow raise, it was almost challenging in a way, like he wasn’t afraid of the death threat.

He tilted his head down, letting out a quiet hum.

“ My name is Dr Golden… and you are…? “

"Xenophanes.. though, for simplicity, you can call me xeno.."

[ he shrugged, keeping a smirk on his face at all times. He sat down slightly, leveling with golden. ]

"How did you get here, hm? Not many people can get here with a flash or anything.. you've peaked my interest."

“ …I got here with a… gem of my own. “

He thought for a moment, thinking if he should spill the entire truth of the phantom ruby.

He wasn’t exactly planning on coming back to this exact universe… and Xeno didn’t seem like he could go back himself..

“ …The phantom ruby, a gem I made myself using power from the chaos, super, and master emeralds… “

[ he seemed.. extremely intrigued, looking the doctor up and down. ]

"Could you, perhaps, show me this.. phantom ruby? I'm very interested.."

A slightly unsteady look crossed his expression.

Would he actually hand the one thing letting him come and go to this unfamiliar entity?..

With nothing more than a simple nod, he reached back into his cape, producing the phantom ruby and holding it out to Xeno.

Why was he giving this entity the ruby..?

He didn’t know.

"This is.. interesting. How did you make a ruby like that on your own? Creating gems is no easy feet for a mortal.."

[ he.. didn't mean that condescendingly, which was probably surprising. Hell, he meant it in a more complimentative way. ]

[ it was clear he was impressed, but.. he rarely complimented anyone.. especially not mortals.. so.. why would he be complimenting one now? ]

[ it was definitely surprising, to say the least... hell, he himself hadn't expected it. ]

“ It’s a long and complicated story.. the explanation is… lengthy. “

He hummed lowly, tucking the ruby away once more as he straightened his posture, small mechanical whirs coming from his legs as he did.

“ And frankly, I wouldn’t exactly label myself as mortal.. I have come back from death.. “

[ that.. surprised him, making him sit up slightly. ]

"You've.. come back from death? That's.. possible?"

[ he quickly snapped out of.. whatever trance he was in. This was.. new to him.. he'd brought people back from death, yes, but he hadn't heard of people doing it themself.. yet again, he had been controlling the ones he'd brought back. ]

"Interesting.. very interesting. I assume it wasn't easy?"

“ Surprisingly, it was.. very easy. “

It was subtle, but a small twitch of discomfort and possibly slight annoyance made it’s way into his expression, vanishing as quickly as it arrived.

With a small but heavy breath, he continued.

“ Just a simple possession of a vessel who’s soul had long since expired, I just happened to be lucky enough to get to one that hadn’t decomposed too much… “

The same twitch of annoyance and discomfort appeared, but for longer this time.

“ The only downside is that it was a messed up sonic clone… so now I’m stuck looking like the rodent… “

"Ah.. that.. that makes sense, yes. And.. trust me, I have my fair share of being stuck looking like that rodent."

[ he snickered darkly, then rolled his eyes. ]

"Sone simple vessel manipulation was what got me here, though.. so.. I suppose it's fine."

[ he just sat there, staring at golden for a moment, then slightly sighing ]

"You differentiated yourself enough to the point that I can look at you and think you're a different hedgehog and not a clone of sonic.. I don't see why, but it's definitely there.. that's not an easy achievement, for sure.. but it's also very.. very impressive."

He hummed quietly, crossing his arms, tapping one of his fingers on his arm.

“ I can tell your having the same issue… “

Golden looked Xeno up and down, having to force back a slight smirk at what he assumed was supposed to be a compliment.

“ Trust me, it was quite easy… all it took was time… withering away, I’ll say.. and a few more… necessary alterations.. “

He cast a glance at his mechanical legs, folding his arms behind his back.

[ You were wandering around Green Hill, slightly humming some music as you walked. Things had been.. peaceful until you heard a racket coming from tails lab.. you decided to check, plus you needed tails anyway, so it was a planned trip. ]

[ as you stepped inside, you saw a cloud of smoke. It appears another one of his inventions exploded on him. You approached him, tapping his shoulder slightly. He turned around in that same.. freaky way he always did. ]

"Oh?- what is it, friend?"

[ the way he spoke always sent a chill down your spine.. and whenever he says friend doesn't make it any better.. he slightly coughed from the smoke, the last bit of it finally fading away, revealing tails fully.. he had some slight soot covering him from the explosion, which.. wasn't out of the usual for the fox. ]

A flash of blue and white light appeared in Xenophanes domain, the spot the flash appeared leaving being a golden hedgehog.

Tucking the phantom ruby away, Dr Golden began wandering the strange area, something he was not used to.

This would be the first time he managed to save enough energy in the ruby to travel to another universe, he found it interesting. What he found most interesting were the small shards of crystals that littered the floor.

[ he glanced around, wondering what caused the flash.. he started stepping slightly, definitely curious about it. ]

Dr Golden perked once he heard the unfamiliar voice.

An area that was inhabited by someone..

He began making his way towards Xeno’s voice, throwing his cape behind him as he walked, his robotic legs making small mechanical sounds as he took step after step.

And soon enough, he was looking up at Xenophanes, looking small and pathetic besides the eight foot being.

[ he was smirking, keeping a hand on his hip. He was leaning down slightly.. he just wanted to get a better look at the hedgehog. He looked golden up and down, just taking in every detail he could get. ]

Golden stood with his arms crossed, seeming unphased by Xeno’s appearance. Bored, even..

His own gaze was quickly scanning over Xenophanes, examining him and engraving every detail into his brain.

He was counting possible weak and or blind spots as well..
