@dr-jake-williams
-frowns- I’m sorry:
Don't be, okay? But let's try. Let's both try like we used to. I know I haven't been around and for that I'm truly sorry, Trina.. but we can get you better and make life decent again. You'll enjoy the freedom once you start living, trust me.
You’d do that for me?
Katrina, if it means you finally getting better, I'd do most things.
But you’re not crazy jake!
Trina. -huffs exasperatedly, knowing full well he isn't exactly 100% health in the head department- Try, for me. Just please try. If you'd like, I'll come and visit every so often. Hell, I'll even stay if it gets you out there into the world.
You don’t get Jake because you don’t have to live alone!
I used to, Trina. Just like you, when I was on my own I moved from America to England and stayed on my own for months. Now's different, because I tried.
A few weeks is enough Jake!
A few weeks from being supported and cared for, provided food for and a roof over your head where you can walk out of your room door and meet someone - to a place where you need to look after yourself, buy your own things and actually make an attempt to meet people? I don't think so.
How do you know I haven’t tried? It’s not like you ever see me anymore.
Because this happens every time you go Outpatient, Trina. You only asked me a few weeks ago; I can safety say you haven't even given it time to work out in your favour yet.
I…I don’t want to. I want to come back here
Katrina, you can't just give up when you haven't even tried.
Aye, totally. I know people do that with me so I’d be kinda biased if I refused. As you can guess, I don’t talk like this outside here or I get some real funny looks.
Yes, that's completely understandable. -chuckles softly- The prejudice is a little ridiculous, considering Scotland is still part of the UK.. and if anything, you'd expect Americans like myself to stand out more in a rural town because we've come from continents away... but I have no idea how it works. -shrugs some-
True, I mean it’s ingrained behaviour, but it’s still nice to do. Not nice when people assume they’re above all that. Bit sappy, but somewhere in here, I like it. And you get a few like that in places like this. Yeah, everyone’s different, but I can’t stand it when people make everything about them.
It's nice to hear an opinion that could make a difference around here, Mick, I'll have to admit. Sadly, you won't always find people here that have the time for necessities for politeness, but I suppose you just have to take the odd one or two with a pinch of salt.
A club?
That's right. Go somewhere that you can share your favourite pastimes. It's a great way to make new friends, since you have things in common. Book clubs, team sports, art centres.. there's so much out there, Trina. I'd be happy to help if you don't know where to start.
=shakes hand= Fine, thanks. Rather nice place. Nice t’meet polite people.like yerself. Don’t get that much these days.
It's been done up new, since an incident in the previous building. -frowns slightly at the thought, but shakes it off- No, I agree.. and I'm grateful for the compliment. Manners are free, so I don't understand why we can't use them.
I don’t like being alone! And my neighbors are mean. And no one talks to me.
-in thought for a moment- Have you ever thought up a hobby? Maybe joined a club? Trina, you can't just give up on the first hurdle.
Oh, no, sorry, m’a big mouth. That would be right. Mick. Take it your in some kinda position of professionalism around here?
It's not a problem - I took no offence to it. Pleasure to meet you, Mick. I'm Jake Williams, a Psychologist here at Kingston. You might run into me once or twice in this place. -extending a hand to the other male- How are you settling in?
Much more hard-working than I’ll ever be.
I think it's one of the first night-shifts I've worked in a long time, so I suppose it needs to be done. -smiling softly, yet tired- You seem like a new face to me. Have we met?
I don’t like it.
But- -sighs, rubbing at his forehead- Trina, we can't keep doing this.
