Authors Note: Okay guys, this is literally my first fanfiction I've ever written and I have been hesitant about posting it, so this is the first time I even attempt to share the ideas I had in my head for a while. Please go easy on me!
P.S. : Any constructive criticism is definitely appreciated, lovely comments as well . If things go well and you like this first part Iāll definitely try to make more fanfics.
Summary: You and your friend are ready to take a trip to NYC, and while you're at the airport, you find out that your favorite actor, Matthew Gray Gubler is currently in New York as well. Anything can happen, right?
It's the beginning of summer '21. You and your best friend were planning your trip to NYC since you were 10 years old, and now that you finally finished college, you both decided to reward yourself with a trip to the city of NY, hoping it would live up to your fantasies. For the last 6 months you were carefully planning each day of your 3 months stay in the City of New York, anticipating on visiting all the places you've seen in your favorite movies, strike up some friendships, or maybe even meet the love of your life.
You're currently at the airport, waiting for your departure to the Big Apple. It has been a long while since you traveled. Because of your impatience, you got there early, so you decided to catch up on some episodes of your favorite show, Criminal Minds. You just started re watching it for the fourth time, hoping it would bring back memories of the day your eyes sparkled for the first time, and you got a weird feeling in your stomach you've never gotten before as you saw Matthew Gray Gubler pop up on your little laptop screen years ago, while you were still in high school.
You've only gotten as far as episode 15 of season 2, which you knew broke your heart every time you watched it. The time Spencer got kidnapped and tortured by a sadist who had a multiple personality disorder. Your heart was skipping a beat every time his you'd see Spencer on the screen, worrying that something might go terribly wrong even though you knew how the episode was going to end. And in that moment, you hear:
"Boo!" your friend comes from behind you and scares the hell out of you. "Got you, didn't I?" she laughed, holding two cups of coffee in her hands.
"I got you some coffee so you'd stop being so snoozy all the time," she said.
"Thanks," you replied as you paused your show right on a close up of Spencer's face.
"Cheer up Y/N, we're going to New York! It's what we always dreamed of!" she exclaimed, bumping her shoulder against yours in an attempt to perk you up.
"What are you even watching?" she asked, squinting her eyes at the laptop so she could get a glimpse of what's on it.
"Is it Criminal Minds again? Y/N again?" she rolled her eyes as she smirked and said
"You really are the biggest Gubler fan I've ever met."
"You really think so?" You looked at her, smiling and taking a sip of the hot coffee she got for you.
"Do you think there's a chance I'll ever get to meet him?" you added.
"Well, you do know he's in New York right now? Right as we speak," your friend smirked, noticing how fast your pupils started to dilate when she said those words.
You could feel your heart starting to race faster and faster, knowing that you'll both be in the same city at the same time, as you thought to yourself "There is a chance. What are the odds?" And went full Spencer Reid mode in calculating the probabilities of something like that happening.
Your friend noticed that your eyes started to glisten, as she gave you some words of encouragement.
"Hey, it's New York. Anything can happen," she said.
Taking the last sips of your coffee, you both hear the speaker in the waiting room announcing that the flight to New York will start boarding any second. You close your laptop, as you start to walk to the boarding line and repeat that last sentence your friend said to you "Anything can happen."
