Toxic Yaoi Writing Advice

Howdy folks have you ever wanted to do a fic exploring power imbalances between 2 characters in a fic but the staples [psuedo-familal, professor/student, etc] dont spark joy today? Or blocked by not desiring to add in an age gap to same-age charas?

Well, I work at a kink club, so let me present to you:

A: works at the kink club, been there for 5 years, well educated, leads classes, community figure

B: freshly divorced/broken up with/new in town, attending for the first time, smitten with their sexy talented instructor who knows everybody and is so cool and good at things and approaches them for advice and mentor-oriented scenes

I love the jokes but i do think it's important to recognize that like just because a masochist likes one kind of pain doesn't mean they'll like all kinds of pain. I think an important (and fun!) part of meeting a new masochist is figuring out exactly what kinds of pain they like or don't like.

Also, like, ppl are 'masochists' for all kinds of reasons. I've met ones whose bodies sublimate certain categories and levels of pain purely into pleasure. I've met others that enjoy the pain response as pain, who luxuriate in writhing in agony in hating what they're feeling, and achieve a kind of automatic subspace with it. I've met others that simply like the idea of receiving pain, the catharsis of viscerally getting fucked up, even as their actual pain tolerances are low. I've met still others that like the idea of masochism as a kind of end state, a place where pain is synonymous with pleasure, but actual scenes are rarely enjoyed.

There's an impulse to say that only some of these are true "masochists". I dislike this argument. Each category will have different kinds of scenes that work more or less well for them, and the process of figuring that out may be easier or harder. But in the end, I find it quite rewarding.

thanks to @luzon-dove im creating a self-insert bsd oc so here we are. ezra is a low-level lackey for the port mafia i think whose job really just comes down to archive management and writing reports. shes also a classic anime tomboy gag but theres never a glow-up sequence so she just routinely gets mistaken for a boy. bsd universe like doesnt?? have??? world war 2 ???? so theres a terrifying possibility that her family never immigrated from germany but i dont really want to think about that

i know her ability is called "child's play" (because thats the only fic title ive written thats not taken from a song) but i literally cannot think of what the ability itself is... all of the writing based ones already exist within canon.

Maybe Child's Play allows for her to "force" someone to play by "the rules of the game". So anyone who verbally agrees to a bet, contest, or challenge that has clearly defined parameters, HAS to follow them to the letter.

If you like the concept you can flesh out the applications and cool uses vs debuffs. Just tossing it out there :)
