Y'know. There are a lot of people who say "problematic" when they actually mean "sinful". And I kind of wish they would just say "sinful".
It'd be more honest about their perspective, and it'd save me time trying to determine whether they're critiquing something in good faith or just being reactionary conservatives.
Also noticing a lot of people who say “problematic” when they mean “gives me the ick,” but they enjoy making their personal preferences sound morally superior (or, you know, they think their personal preferences ARE morally superior).
this picture of a chip pan oil fire from the wikimedia cookbook is so strikingly sublime
Activity to do with your date: follow the song from the bottom of the lake to your muddy death

Hey. Hey!
Also people being obsessed with Greek mythology as kids wasn’t invented by Percy Jackson. My dad read the Iliad and the odyssey in high school because one of his friends was super obsessed with Ancient Greek lit and he was like “well I can’t let him be smarter and more well read than I am I’ve gotta catch up”
Moment of silence for all the centuries of Greek mythology enjoyers who didn’t have online databases of fragments and different translations and had to physically hunt down the texts at libraries.
Also shoutout to Princess Anna Comnena one of the first known woman historians for sneaking into the archives at night to read the epics because her family thought they weren’t appropriate for women. Dedication.

I added pictures to try and explain the cartoon better!
I see so many people saying shit like "the way fandoms behave makes me really nervous to write the story I want to write, what if my fandom sucks" and I just want to sit down with all of them and be like it's ok, you don't have to worry, you're not going to be famous
Jasmine Vine, lead programmer of Hollow Knight & Silksong just transitioned!! I'm so happy for her!❤️🏳️⚧️
her bluesky header & icon are so cute too 🥰
It always amuses me when someone IRL is surprised I'm a lesbian. Buddy, I am as subtle as a Xena bag in a dyke bar
I want this to happen when I’m with you so I can be like “I’m the gf, I’m literally right here”
Please
Your dialogue is stiff because everyone is being too honest
Great dialogue can come from radical emotional honesty. But in most real conversations, people
dodge questions
answer indirectly
lie (badly)
change the subject
crack jokes to avoid serious answers
lie (convincingly)
say half of what they mean
tell the truth but get so anxious/angry/defensive others now think they're lying
If your dialogue feels unnatural, it might be because everyone is saying exactly what they think, or articulating their thoughts too well. Try letting characters hide things instead.
Subtext is where tension lives.
the age of the "romanticizing high school" media is over. we're going to romanticize college now
