must be the season / tarot reader dr: the debut
first and foremost, this dr is inspired by one of my moots, sara (@guidance.by.sara on tiktok) & her current lifestyle. couldn’t have cooked this up without her!
there’s a quaint little place at a street corner near central park, a peculiar one (and that’s saying a lot, living in new york) that smells of sage & coffee—which is also its name. it’s a tarot/book/coffee/flower/art fusion, where people can relax, socialize, and/or work on their personal projects. the whole place is run by me, my fiance, & our friends.
we each manage different areas, but we sometimes do switcheroos when someone’s got things going on! it’s where you’d find us working after college.
ethan & i were high school sweethearts, had been together for a decade before he proposed & we got engaged. he’s also in I.T., so he works on that in the evenings. it’s pretty chill.
on the outside, there’s the florist section, managed by anika & quinn. anika has a lot of fun chatting with strangers, she’s a natural at drawing people in! quinn’s a charmer as well, convincing people is in her nature.
you walk in, and you’re greeted by the café area, run by chad & sam—chad’s addicted to caffeine, and sam’s worked at a café before, so it was fate. there are organically shaped wooden tables with cushioned chairs. whole shelves of roast beans & sleek machines.
adjacent to the lounge area is the library, run by ethan & tara. there’s a shelf we swap out with books from new authors every two weeks, to help promote their work. on another, there are some tarot decks & crystals, a bunch of tidbits alike.
tucked into a corner is a room utilized for my tarot services. a lil’ cozy nook, with thick curtains drawn during readings for privacy, managed by me & mindy (when she isn’t busy with the art section, which i’ll get into).
as for the remaining space at the back, there’s a space for our art club, with a long table and comfy chairs. we usually hold monthly meet-ups for creatives. this area’s managed by mindy, though anika likes pitching in since the florist’s closed in the evenings. ✶
