mal’s proposition
beautifultragedyemery:
Emery looked around. She knew deep down, this place could be good for her. Whether she’d admit it or not, being away from the Isle, for her situation in general, was good for her. All the pent up feelings she had and the confusion over what she was doing with them or what even they were. She felt betrayed, hurt, lonely, wanting, and most of all, lost. How does she fix herself? She’s the powerful Emery Lilith Rog. Part demon, daughter of Chernabog. But she didn’t feel like it anymore. She never felt powerful because of her father, she knew she was but had always been too afraid to see her full potential, even if she didn’t know it herself. The potential was there, but it was broken and hidden. She looked back at Mal. She couldn’t figure out how she felt about Mal. She wanted Mal to like her, she always had, but she was also confused. According to most of the VK’s she was pretty much supposed to hate this girl, yet she couldn’t bring herself to.
Emery was a villain kid, yes, but she wasn’t evil. She knew right from wrong. She was smart. The brunette took a deep breath and sighed. “I I don’t think I do, Mal. I know how th-things work out for me. M-my dad said it a few times and I.. I believe h-he’s right. I’m meant to be alone because i’m w-weak and I’m not worth anyone’s time. It’s why I d-don’t make friends very easily. I don’t have ch-charm or the ability to even talk n-normally.” she admitted. She had always hated her stutter, and Nic had always told her it wasn’t bad. She knew she had it because of fear and it was something she always had, but she hated it. People automatically assumed she was nervous or scared, but she wasn’t. It was one of the things she hated the most about herself. “I c-can’t make friends. I w-want friends l-like how you have Evie and J-Jay and Carlos. And I w-want something like you have with B-Ben. Mal that is so s-special.” she chocked.
Self-doubt, constantly being reminded of your minimal worth, being brought up to be something they wanted you to be-- as much as it was sad to admit it, Mal had gone through the very same things; she knew her friends did too. And it sort of pinched her heart to see that someone like Emery would go through the same things. The girl didn’t deserve the pain that their monstrous parents inflicted on her-- none of the villain kids did.
“You are, Emery.” Mal reached out for the other’s hand, clasping it firmly around hers. “Your father... he can’t touch you here.” That wasn’t entirely true. With Ben’s third proclamation, Chernabog might come over to Auradon, “We won’t let him,” she said with a firm nod; hoping Emery would detect the sincerity in her words. “Carlos, Evie, Jay and I had trouble too-- at first.” She told her, trying to reassure that she wasn’t the problem, because she wasn’t. “We didn’t exactly feel welcome.” but then again, these kids had never been positively regarded to, so they wouldn’t really know at the get-go. “You are not weak,” Mal almost laughed at that-- she was half-demon. Anyone would be crazy to go against the girl. She pursed her lips at the latter things the other girl had uttered. “Yeah, I’m lucky.” she said with a small smile, glancing at the ground then back to Emery’s eyes, “but you’ll find people too,” Mal nodded ardently, “I strongly believe that.” she squeezes the girl’s hand lightly. “This isn’t the isle anymore--we’re in Auradon now. You can be your best version of yourself here... and find the people that will love you like you should be loved.”
beautifultragedyemery:
The brunette looked down at her hands. She was burning, she felt like she was on fire. Which wasn’t out of the ordinary for her. When the Rog kids got upset their body heat got intense, literally. They got very hot. She looked over at her allowing a few tears to spill from and doing her best to stop them before they became overwhelming. “Y-you can say that again. It t-took my date until the last m-minute to ask me and then he d-ditched me. Oh did I m-mention he was my ex and kind of h-horrible?” she said wiping her eyes. She felt vulnerable, way too vulnerable. But something about Mal drew her in. Made her feel safe and protected, even if she had been abandoned. She believed, deep down, that Mal hadn’t left everyone on purpose. She knew that until Evie had spoken up about others who deserved or even needed Auradon there wasn’t much Mal could do. Yeah, she could have talked to Ben but it wasn’t her decision. Plus, what would Auradon think if she’d tried to get him to allow them over in the first place. It would most certainly make her look like she had bad intentions. These were just a few thoughts that flipped in and out of Emery’s head.
Mal could feel the heat emanating from the girl, but that didn’t bother her. For some reason, after being able to morph into a dragon, she started to notice that she was insusceptible to heat-- or fire, in general. She didn’t know how long that would last, but Mal didn’t want Emery to feel like she was trying to take a step back from her so she stayed where she sat. “Wow.” The fae remarked after Emery opened up about her ass of a date. She-- of all people, the daughter of the mistress of evil-- shouldn’t be surprised at this kind of behavior, but being in Auradon kind of made you assumed that everyone was good. She shook the thought off-- regardless of where they were, or where they stood, Mal knew better than to assume such things. Some people are just inherently cruel. She took a moment to gather her thoughts, not wanting to say anything that could tick the other off... but seeing Emery in this state hit home; “You deserve way better anyway, Em.” Mal leaned forward a little, trying to catch the other’s eyes. “I hope you know that.”

beautifultragedyemery:
Emery tensed up slightly hearing Mal. Mal the girl that everyone was mad at who had left them there. Who knew what she was going through with her dad, because she was positive everyone knew he was horrible to her and Nic. She knew and she still left her, left them, there. She looked over at her. Her eyes were red and puffy “I just I needed something to d-do I I was bored.” She tried to sound legit and not upset. But em was hurt. “How… How do y-you do it?” She asked sighing. “You w-worked so well here and y-yet you’re still fierce and and M-Mal” she explained. “M-meanwhile I can’t get a d-decent date to the b-ball.” She looked Down at the cactus and turned the Fire dark red. She hurt, she hurt so much. She thought moving would make things better, but it reminded her how much of an outcast she was.
It seemed like yesterday that Mal ran away to the isle and had caught sight of Emery alongside the pirate’s crew. Mal didn’t have the most friends back in the isle-- it took her months to consider Jay, Evie and Carlos as her friends; and Emery was one of those kids that barely talked, but Mal knew if she only had the chance to be more than what she was in the isle, Emery could be so much more. Maybe Ben was brushing off on her, but she could see the good in Emery. She wasn’t all evil. Her father was, that’s for sure. Just by looking at the girl, Mal felt as if she was responsible for her hurting. She sort of was, in various ways, and Mal hoped to make up for that. The purple-haired fae let out a soft chuckle, hiding her surprise at Emery’s view of her, “Dates are overrated,” She said, taking a seat beside her, “These guys are being stupid princes.” She tried to joke, looking at the fire.
beautifultragedyemery:
Emery was sitting in her favorite place to be alone. She wiped her cheeks and wiped the water from them onto her pants so her hands were dry. She watched the developing cactus and touched one of the limbs letting it burn a little. She focused on the fire and changed the color to black. She swallowed hard and the flame disappeared. She was working on making things look like they were on fire rather than actual fire. She got annoyed and threw the cactus and set her pals up. She was so frustrated with everything. She set the plant on fire watching it burn slowly. She heard footsteps and froze. “G-go away” she choked.
Mal didn’t know what to expect, but she certainly was not thinking of spotting Emery in the greenhouse, sat and burning cacti. She approached with caution, thinking that when she would so just step wrongly, could lead to agitating the other. Why was she here? Mal wondered; she had noticed the girl fit in well; well enough to have a date to the ball even. “What are you doing here alone?” Mal asked, completely ignoring the other’s attempt to shoo her away-- like that’s gonna happen.
@beautifultragedyemery
things seemed to mellow down pretty quick right after the ball-- or at least as mal had noticed it. she had not seen anyone make a fuss since then, but that only made mal uneasier. ever since they’d arrived, the isle kids did not hide their opposition and as much as she’d wanted to appear that nothing had affected her in any sort of way, mal was worrying about everything, now more than ever. the purple haired fae found herself wandering around the prep’s greenhouse, her fingers brushing slightly at the plants that were by the path. a sudden unfamiliar noise caused her to stop in her tracks. did she hear fire crackling? eyebrows furrowing, mal listened, deciding to make her way to the noise.

Blending in with the people of Auradon so easily was almost disappointing. Anthony had a wonderful imagination but he had expected the royalty of Auradon to best even his greatest hopes. Still, the people and environment were leaps and bounds above the Isle. One figure that had always been too great for the smallness of the Isle was the daughter of Maleficent. Maybe not a noble but she had been feared as a ruler and even at a tender age the son of Tremaine recognized her power. Approaching the girl with a sense of deja vu, he offered his hand with a charming smile. “Would you like to dance, lady Mal?” It was a risky move but the male didn’t expect to be rebuked the way he had been last time considering she had now spent a considerable time in Auradon. For now, his only goal was to see if he would receive a better outcome.
The first time this had happened, Mal went pink with discomfort. No one was ever bold enough to ask her to dance and it had never occurred to her that anyone would be interested to in the first place. Who would dare to dance with Maleficent’s daughter? Back then, she had done zero dancing--and Auradon changed all that. Balls were happening here and there-- basically everywhere and Mal, being Ben’s lady, had to attend to almost all of them. Dancing was something she was particularly familiar with now and she was sure Anthony knew that. "Wait-- with me?.” Mal said with a laugh; silently weighing her options, “I thought I’d already told you I don’t dance, Anthony-- should I call you that? Or do they refer to you as Lord Tremaine now?”

Mal couldn’t believe her eyes-- but really, she shouldn’t be surprised. For a moment, she had to double-take at the scene she was watching. Anthony fit in so well with the crowd, she knew for sure that the people could hardly tell that he was from the isle. Especially now that he was out of the wretched place, he had a proper and untattered set of clothes that made him more regal than he usually put himself to be. Mal would rather be caught dead than to say any of her thoughts aloud though. The girl could still remember how uncomfortable she had been when the Tremaine boy tried to hit on her (did he, really? or is she exaggerating?) at that howler of a party that she threw back in the isle. Mal tilted her head to the side, arms crossed as she slowly realized that Anthony was coming her way.

Mal had been reduced to a standing spectator of the grand ball once she’d lost Evie. All she had been doing, aside from watching everyone do things, was eating basically every type of finger food that had been laid out in the open table. She stood in a corner just enough to see everything happen, and just the right amount of secluded not to be bothered. As much as she enjoyed her alone time, she was starting to wonder what her other friends would be doing-- or if they even went. As if on cue, green orbs landed a familiar brunette just by the very same table Mal had been standing beside. A smile made its way to her face, picking up a shrimp cocktail on her way to Cordelia. “Question,” She asked the other, “If you guys were to eat seafood, are you technically eating family?”

Having her best friend as her date to the ball was probably the only thing keeping her from not going. It had been a long week for Mal. A terribly long week-- and she would not have expected any less. The other kids from the isle did not miss the opportunity to scream at her face. She had been called weak and a disappointment. Traitor was the most popular; The insults stung at first, only a little bit, but the purple haired girl had come to the point that she just didn’t care what they had to say anymore.
With a small sigh, Mal took a moment to compose herself. Evie and her had just walked past the red carpet and were about to enter the ballroom.
“I never know how to pose for those,” She leaned unto Evie, referring to the paparazzi, “I feel like a big purple marshmallow that’s being flashed with a hundred different lights.” The girl patted her humongous gown patterned with sequins, it only bounced at the slightest, “But,” she then added, “At least I look not hideous, right? Thanks to you and your amazing talent.” With a smile, she nudged the blueberry haired girl. “This is, by far, my favorite gown that you’ve made for me, E.”
