Looking for help finding the .utc files for DAA so I can make a few adjustments to NPCs that are not modded on the Nexus already... so many clones in the game, it drives me batty!! Is there a way to find these files? Thanks...

Hi, I do not currently have DAO installed to point you in the right direction but they tend to be in more or less the same places across both game and DLCs. Your bigger problem will be that iirc DAA files are encrypted, much like the other DLC files and to use them you will first have to decrypt them or obtain an already decrypted copy.Unfortunately won’t be able to point you towards any particular method or instance either, but it’s basically the same thing people do to make pirated version of the game work.

hey, i've started playing the mac version of da2 and i keep running into an issue where some modded hair (like the josie/isabela mashup from ferelden cuts or the dai hair from hd isabela) show up weirdly transparent? i read something about dx9 vs dx11 compatibility maybe being the issue, but i'm not sure how to apply that knowledge to fixing this

IIRC you can switch between versions of DirectX used in game options

hey, is there any way to get a character you made in the in game character creator out into the toolset? or even restart the game but use the same morph that you'd made in the cc before?

Yep, I only ever make characters in the toolset LOL. Here is a tutorial with a link to the Change Your Hero Hair and Face tool that allows you to do both of those options.

DAO/DA2 “Black Spots On Hair“ Troubleshooting Mini Tutorial

If you’ve ever ported a hair from Skyrim (mainly Sims mod hairs) or a Sims 3/Sims 4 hair mesh into DAO or DA2, you might have run into a ‘black spots on hair’ issue. This happens when some of the normals are facing the wrong way - I don’t know why they get that way, but it happens.

This mini tutorial will briefly go over how to fix them!

This will not go over how to extract vanilla dao or da2 resources, nor how to resize hairs, nor will it go over how to install nifscripts. There’s tutorials out there on how to do so.

What you’ll need:

Latest version of Blender, as of writing that’s 2.79b (this is my choice, you might be able to do this in 2.49 as well)

Nifscripts importer for this version OR Nifskope OR another program that can import nifs, but these two are free

do u guys know if it would be possible to like import armor from inquisition and make itmove the way it does in another game by exporting the skeleton orrrr animations or something? or make characters move the way they do in inquisition in da2/o?

for dao animation editing may be possible with gmax, but i am unsure about da2.

Hello! I have a problem with removing the masks of Florianne and Celene at Halamshiral. I've been trying to remove it using Frosty Editor and Mod Maker but without succes. What do you think may be wrong? Is there another way with removing the masks?

Hi! I was wondering if there were mods for DA2 that swap the mercenary/smuggler armor you get at the start of Act 1 with something else? Or if you had a tutorial on how to do it? The mercenary's light armor is particularly horrendous imo.

with a little utc editing you can change the gear :)

open the utc with tlkedit, scroll down to equip_itemlist, open the branches till you find the one labeled with a cht (for chest) and change it to the uti of your liking. there’s a list of vanilla on the nexus, and modded ones are always packaged with standalones, openable with the gff editor.

Hi! Do you know if there are any mods that gives Flemeth's armor to Hawke? I haven't played the game in ages, but I'm starting to get an itch to play it, and I was kinda hoping someone would have made a mod for that by now.

i get floating heads when i try to edit utc's :( i'm trying to edit the mom from the human noble origin (pre battle/howe betrayal) and swap out her chest piece for a modded one but i just get a floating head, i've tried it with default armors too and its the same thing. modded or unmodded armour, floating head. the structure is 4, which is chest, and i really don't know what i'm doing wrong :(

If you’re editing UTCs and it does it on the vanilla try doing one of a few things

a) making sure there are no .uti after the armor names in there, and no spaces in it

2) editing it in the toolset though that’s a bit cumbersome and also has it’s own issues

3) editing a different line to see if that one also goes invisible or if it works.

A long time ago an anon asked how to make multiple mrh files editable, no one had an answer but I just found one myself and thought I would share ! Select the folder with all the mrh you want to edit, Right click and select properties, uncheck the "read-only", it'll ask you if you want to apply this too all files within the folder, click yes, and done ! Working for me at least O:

hey! do you guys know if there's a mod (similar to Unique Light Armour That Tiers on the dao nexus) that improves the stats on adaia's boots without changing their appearance? i want to be able to use them in the later game but Unique Light Armour changes them to the da2 semi-barefoot style, which i honestly never really liked lmao. i'd try doing it myself but i could never get the toolset to work. thanks, sorry to bother you!

You don’t need the toolset, you just need tlk edit. This is an edited version of the Adaia boots uti, just swap them out.
