But remember, just because DragonCon is an Old God that doesn’t sleep doesn’t mean that you’re no longer a food-eating, water(alcohol?)-drinking, blood-bleeding human that has got to get some shuteye on occasion.

We sent out the DCT intern to do some scouting of the new renovations being done at the Peachtree Center Mall and here’s what found out.

Short version? There’s less seating than last year, so be considerate of your fellow con-goers! Also, stick to moving around in groups.

Random Chik-Fil-A Bowl fan, staring around in wide eyed wonder: Scuze me. Do you work here? Me: Nah, cousin, I’m just loud. What do you need? Random football fan spouse: What is … happening? *vague gestures all around* Me: Welcome to DragonCon, cousins.  Me: *explains broad concept, Elevator Pitch Edition* Them: … YES?  Me: *gets out spare program and shows the multiple pages of Today’s Program* Them: … Y E S ???  Me: … and I hear Leonard Nimoy has convinced Bill Shatner to give us a try this year. We’ll see how that goes. Lots of folks think we’re just San Diego Comic Con on the East Coast, but our structure is different and how we treat the celebs is different. They get to be people. Sometimes that creeps ‘em out. Random football fan spouse: … WHAR GET BADGE?!?  Random Chik-Fil-A Bowl fan: Can you tell me a little more about this “Science Track” thing and HOLY SHIT WAS THAT PETER JURASIK?!?  Me, face-blind: Could be. He’s here somewhere.  Them: WHAR GET BADGE??? Spouse, on cell phone: “Hi, it’s me, we’re not going to the football game. You want our tickets?”  Me: *gives directions to Sheraton* Nearby actual DC Security, laughing: Guess what. You work here.
