Family drama!anon I just realised something that I genuinely forgot, Bruce's relative gonna act so weird with Bruce kids. My relative act weirdly(talking shit behind) with my younger sister, because she has darker skin and not *girly* enough.

Literally everyone here is same race (Asian) including my sister, the only reason why she has darker skin compared to the rest of us because she is athlete that won 30plus medals nonstop. (also my father has darker skin)

Assuming Kane and Wayne is white, i don't think they like most Bruce's kid including Damian.

considering the Wayne's are an ancient british family that + their wealth yeah i can see them getting super racist about Damian. Bruce finally has a legitimate child and he's half brown/middle eastern/Arabic(?), they are definitely making comments. with the others they could pretend Bruce was just being charitable but this is the kid they're going to have to be working around/leeching off in the future.

i'm not as sure about the Kane side, especially with the retcon of Katherine/Batwoman and Jacob now militarizing and heroing that side of the family. i don't think it excludes them from being awful but i don't think they're meant to be read that way.

This just from my experience of having traditional and rich family from both side of my parent (despite that, my family live in slightly lower middle class bracket, basically comfortable but not actually rich)

if Wayne and Kane family anything like mine, Bruce probably only seen them like during holiday and funeral, (in which, they probably acted like they are grieving over Wayne couple, but god forbid, if Wayne couple actually sick and need their help, they most likely make themselves scarce in another country or if they actually help, demanded for 40% in inheritance in the lowest demand)

family drama kinda inane to the point my father giving up his inheritance just so he can be done with his side of family, which demand more share of inheritance, (which is funny considering that my family is like the poorest/average at least compared all my other relative.)

i kinda glad Bruce don't actually has a lot of relatives in first place, because he gonna to be the main ping pong ball in family drama.

the Waynes are an old enough family that i feel like Bruce would have at least some extended family on that side but in my headcanon they basically cut Thomas off when Thomas ended up with the company despite being a doctor and he refused to share control. they are at the funeral and the will hearing specifically to try to wrest control of the company away from Bruce/his guardian or, if that doesn't work, obtain legal guardianship of Bruce and his company shares

it is a LOT of inane family drama about the money and Bruce maintains his distance from them once he grows older and firmly gets across he also won't be sharing the company

depending on how big you want to believe the Wayne and Kane families are i think it would have been one massive shit show when it was revealed Bruce was left to Alfred in the will and depending on what you want to believe about family law when itty bitty baby Bruce was asked who he'd rather stay with he knew choosing Alfred meant losing both sides of his parent's family and so he learned that any choice he makes for personal love will inevitably hurt someone else he cares about

i'm never going to be over the fact that Bruce Wayne had one single, localized, already unrealistic goal that was at least straightforward and achievable in the ways he wanted it to be (save as many people as he could and then die) and then events spiraled so far beyond his control he ended up with family and friends he never learned how to live for and fighting gods he wasn't qualified to know about let alone go head to head with but he steps up because there's good he knows he can do and faults he knows he can compensate for and he was asked too and he fails a good 30% of the time because of fucking course he does, what other human in his circumstances could possibly do better, but people still turn on him and blame him for that failure anyways and he will never NEVER admit he's failing because he's in over his head and scared so people see only the terrible legend instead of the human man

I see a lot of “bruce adopted his Robins because they reminded him of himself” and I feel like that’s taking a truth and making it wrong.

Bruce sees himself in every orphan, he sees himself in every hurt child. If he took in Dick and the others because they reminded him of himself and he was trying to “fix” his own childhood through them he’d have a lot more kids, he would have picked up a kid before he even became batman. He took in Dick because he understood his pain and because he knew he was in a position to help Dick that no one around him was going to fill if Bruce didnt step up. It was, like with batman, something theoretically anyone could, but only he would.

idk the more i think about Leslie the more i think about how her pacifism is blind and toothless and that peaceful protest doesn't mean anything when the other side is willing and wanting to kill you. peaceful protest requires a stage and it requires shame, neither of which Gotham has. she is, ultimately, more concerned with not doing something wrong than she is with doing something right.

idk if this is controversial or not, but I really like when non-professional writing like fic has hints of author bleedthrough when it comes to like, what different people assume is common knowledge. Like sometimes I’ll be reading a fic and it’ll just be obvious that the person writing it is either obsessed with medicine or has been to medical school, because they’ll use terms that are just a shade too technical without explaining them. It’s never the super specific stuff that they’d know other people are unaware of, it’s always the things that once you’ve known it for a while you forget it’s niche knowledge. It’s fun because as a fanfic reader it reminds me of how this is a fun hobby community, where everyone has their own thing going on outside of fandom. Everyone’s got their own specialties and they can’t help but write that into their work sometimes

Batman would insist that any time a member of the Justice League brings their sidekick on a mission, they have to put a League issued 'indicator' on the control room dashboard of whatever spaceship they are using so that if the ship crashes, gets taken over or is otherwise in need of rescue the group doing the rescue know not just to look for Leaguers but any sidekick with them. The indicators are just small metal disks that can be secured to the console, very professional, very discrete. Batman designed them well.

Only when some of the non-sidekick having Leaguers realise Batman has just designed a cooler looking version of something that already exists, they wait until the next time a sidekick is brought on a mission and put up 'baby on board' signs in every window.
