Catching Tigers by their tails and other inadvisable gambits: When Hal gets handed an intergalactic exotic species trafficking case by the corps he knows exactly who to ask to play bait. But when Batman disappears with nothing but a bloody tracker left behind he's forced to navigate the ugly world of trafficking up close with a furious Nightwing dogging his every step. (shifter au).

Hear My Heart Beating: hundreds of years ago Bruce was turned into a monster. Terrified and furious as to what he's become he eventually settles for making sure he's the only monster in Gotham. Despite it all he slowly builds a family.

yesterday is bleeding and today is full of mistakes: with all the shit that's come out over the years Bruce's kids think they have a pretty good grasp on their father's past. a vicious argument with a powerful and vindictive sorcerer changes that. over and over again. (de-aging au) read here

i look back and all i see are ghosts and all of them are me: Bruce Wayne kills the Joker with a gun in a painfully average bank robbery barely a week after Jason's death. 10 months later Jason returns home to a wasteland.

Sometimes your doctor is concerned for your breathing and assumes you’re gonna cough out half the dose so makes you take 12 rounds of puffers and SABA’s start tap dancing on your nerves and you start shaking like a chihuahua and it suck actually

but then 14 hours later you’re taking a more moderate 2 rounds and you can’t help but think something is missing, that the shotgun blast to your nervous system had a certain je ne sais quoi

In light of the recent Batman issue, I have no commentary on it other than I better start seeing a BILLION “Pit Madness” Bruce fics from now on or else I am going to call a certain sub-sect of fans hypocritical. If you’re going to make shit up you gotta be consistent with it. It’s the THIRD time he’s been in one guys, surely you can extend your magic green rage powers to him now. If Jason going in once turns him into a crazy violent bad boy woobie who can do no wrong then Bruce going in three times better turn him into the Green Goblin. He better start biting people. Every other word out of his mouth better mention “the green” in his vision. He better start viciously beating his sons and then be instantly forgiven because he feels really really bad about it even though it “wasn’t really him”. I’m watching you guys 👀

To expand on the thing I mentioned before (I don’t remember what post, but I think it was about Dick being possessive)

Dick hides from his siblings that Bruce is really good at cooking, just so he can have it all to himself. He will actively tell them lies, like how eating something Bruce made has given him food poisoning when that only happened because he snuck into the kitchen when Bruce was cooking and ate something raw

Bruce is oblivious to this tidbit and just thinks his kids prefer it if he doesn’t make any food. It’s not like he cooks by himself all that often anyway, so it doesn’t matter to him. Cooking is a chore in his eyes, and he just doesn’t like to do it; he's got better things to do

Dick doesn’t care; he is unashamed of the fact that he is manipulating his siblings and his Dad. He’s a little surprised it’s gone unnoticed for as long as it has, but he’ll take it

There’s been a lot of close calls and slip-ups over the years, but Dick has held it together very well. Panic will only alert his siblings to the fact that something is up, and if that happens, he'll spiral

Not to say that his other children haven’t had his food, they just don’t know that Bruce is the one who made it. They think it’s extremely fancy food Bruce bought

If DIck had his way, he would keep this part of Bruce all to himself to the end of time. Maybe it's a little twisted, but Dick enjoys the feeling of it being only him and Bruce, just like when he was younger. He likes to think he knows more of Bruce than anyone else in their family

watching a video on why men aren’t being sexualized in video games and while I trust it will eventually get there a poll was asked on whether or not people minded if there was to be more sexualization of male characters, the general answer was no, to which I immediately thought it’s not just about the rate of sexualization between men and women, it’s a matter of sexualizing the men the same way women are sexualized.

people were saying male characters in video games also have unrealistic body ideals and go around shirtless all the time, which is true. but I’d bet anything that if those male characters were put in the vulnerable clothes and positions that women are put in there’d be a lot more discomfort and upset. But this is a distinction the vast majority of men interacting with this topic don’t understand and often refuse to consider

Thank god I’m a bitch because the amount of people I had to bark get out of the way at as I was pushing a wheelchair at the airport is ridiculous. People see a wheelchair coming and suddenly lose all sense of depth perception as they try to dart in front of it

hello! :D i enjoy your blog and your many batman opinions, so i'd figure i could ask you if you have any batman/batfam comic recommendations? i wanna learn more about my fav spooky guy and i wasn't sure where to start, exactly? no issues if that isn't up your alley! either way, i love your au's! your "all i see are ghosts" au is especially yummy to me, and your jane doe oc is so delightfully spooky.

If you wanna know specifically where my ideas on batman come from I’d actually recommend at least the first season of batman the animated series and the justice league unlimited cartoon.

To focus on comics specifically I’d need my laptop which I won’t have for a couple days but off the top of my head: batman black and white perpetual mourning is THE comic for who batman is as an independent hero, batman murderer/fugitive and the whole no man’s land arc are good character beats, and a lonely place of dying sets up the very beginning of the modern batfamily

Batman year one (mostly about Gordon) and batman zero year (more modern interpretation of his first months as batman) are the generally accepted origin points for batman if you want to get a feel for what he was like starting out
