Cannot Stress Enough how important it is to read Howlâs Moving Castle written by Diana Wynn Jones immediately after watching Howlâs Moving Castle directed by Hayao Miyazaki. When he made the movie he was of course upset with war and thus included it in the film, but you gotta understand. You really Gotta Understand. Every time in the movie where Howl turns the door dial black to travel to an absolutely hellish warscape? You know where that same dial takes him in the book? The Real World Country Of Wales
He goes to his sisterâs house to play rugby and have a drink with his mates. His sister is like âyou fucking loser get a JOBâ and Howell is like âI have a job, Iâm a wizard!â And sheâs like âFUCK OFFâ

MAGIC
Spent this week stuffing the local little free libraries!
I went through all my books, read and unread, a massive undertaking that took days. Also sweat and tears. Plus some screaming. Maybe some screeching.
But: âšïž Over 100 Books Unhauled!!!!! âšïž

That post about 30 year old coming of age stories?
Iâve been thinking about it all morning. What would the plot points be for that? What makes a 30 year old coming of age story?
Old folks sound off in the comments
A few ideas:
Burying a parent that never encouraged independence
Acknowledging a trauma you've spent your life ignoring
Finally opening yourself up to a truly mutual, non-transactional relationship (platonic or romantic)
Leaving a community (religious or otherwise) that has kept you from growing
Obtaining a diagnosis for a health condition (mental or physical) and finally getting treatment and recontextualizing your life.
Student loan forgiveness kicking in, suddenly you can afford to live. That one small change snowballs into something big.
Starting over after the end of The Big Relationship you thought would define your life. Engaging in a new hobby/social group that adds context to how small life felt in that relationship.
You find yourself with a pet you have to care for, which teaches you to care for yourself.
You take a class somewhere that unlocks skills you didn't know you had.

i am begging if you have a kindle or use an ereader or read books online in any kind of way please go on libby and register with your local library (if you donât have a library card, what a good excuse to see if you can sign up online for one or even take a trip!) to see their digital collection. i made a resolution to not buy as many books as i have these past few years and also to support my library more and it was so easy and iâve already borrowed one book and have another on hold in like ten minutes.
I wanna read this so bad
COMPUARY
The obviously manipulated quote at the bottom is making me cackle
Last night I was talking to my boyfriend, and I couldnât think of the word âlibraryâ, so I said âbook ranchâ. He thought it was hilarious and started making up alternative names for âlibrarianâ.
âCowbook! Like cowboy! NoâŠReadcher? Like Rancher? No, fuck this is hardâŠâ
and just now I heard him yell âBOOKAROOâ from the other end of the apartment in the most triumphant tone of voice iâve ever heard
âHowdy, pardner. Nameâs Tex. Biblio Tex.â
Certified Library Post
I keep seeing lists and recs for short books/stories to cram in before the year is up to meet the âreading goalâ and it makes me feel sad that I know how that feels. I feel sad that people need to feel rushed to read.
Slow down, friends. Read what you want, read what you must, but donât force yourself to consume. I feel like reading should be about quality over quantity.
Thereâs book worms and then thereâs Book Wyrms.
âI drew a picture of a cat with wings, and I thought âOh, what fun! Why shouldnât a cat have wings!?â and then, âWhat would happen if they did?â and so there goes the book.
â Ursula K. Le Guin
