Post-Scratch Self: The Summoner
Rufioh Nitram is the dancestor of Tavros Nitram. He is extremely passive and hates conflict. He is the Jake English equivalent of the Alpha trolls, as every single one of his friends (as well as Andrew Hussie) have tried flirting with him, excluding Meenah. According to Aranea, he is the most well-liked member of their session (anti-her) and most romantically successful (anti-Cronus). Due to a genetic mutation he has a fully functional pair of wings - something usually acquired only by trolls who have reached God-tier.
As a young boy, Rufioh feared the attention his wings would bring him, and ran away -though he claims he was following his lusus - to join the Lost Weeaboos, a gang of trolls who lived in treehouses with a deep love of troll anime. He ultimately threw down the daggerlance and challenged the guild’s high seme - information about the battle is unclear, but at least one of the two was, “ultimately served like a shonen on Shitsuji Island.”
He is very good friends with Meenah, who reciprocates his platonic feelings. He refers to all girls as ‘doll,’ and claims to have low self-confidence, though he doesn’t display many outward signs of it. He swears relatively often, but censors any words that might offend Kankri.
He is directly tied to the character Rufio from the movie 'Hook,’ as well as the actor Dante Basco, whom his vocal patterns are based off of. He speaks much like a normal person might type, but replaces all of the 'I’s with the number '1,’ as well as using words like 'doll’ and 'bangarang.’
When his Dancestor, Tavros, personified his own self-confidence he chose to name it 'Rufio,’ in spite of being fully aware that the personification was not real, and not knowing Rufioh’s real name. Upon actually meeting his Dancestor, Vriska holds that Tavros’s personification was still fake, because he spelled it wrong.
Post-Scratch, on Alternia, he was known as The Summoner, and possessed Tavros’s gift of communication and manipulation of animals. He was the matesprit of Marquise Spinneret Mindfang, though he ultimately killed her. He rose through the ranks of the cavalreapers, and ultimately led them in spite of his low blood. Eventually he either grew or revealed his wings, and led a large-scale rebellion against the highbloods, though it unfortunately failed and he was killed. It did, however, cause Her Imperious Condescension to banish all adult trolls off-planet to keep them from rebelling again. This could be a Peter/Pupa Pan reference to Neverland, a place inhabited only by children.
His pre-scratch self had a soap-opera-esque romantic life. He was in a matespriteship with the sweet-tempered Damara Megido, but then cheated on her with Horuss Zahhak, a troll whose temper and belief in the hemospectrum could outdo even Equius. Horuss demanded that the time they spent together be in secret, and openly disliked Rufioh’s lowblood status - as Rufioh was unused to anything but adoration and being put on a pedestal, he found the behavior intriguing. Eventually the two developed flushed feelings for each other, but disaster struck when Damara found out. Meenah emotionally tormented Damara about the cheating, until she snapped. Eventually she attacked Rufioh and Horuss, paralyzing Rufioh from the neck down and killing Horuss (who was revived). Meenah then went to defend Rufioh - whose hatred of conflict kept him from defending himself - but died herself, which allowed her to reach godhood.
Horuss built Rufioh a mechanical horse body to help him move around, but when Rufioh died Horuss was able to resurrect him (dramatically, while holding only his head, on top of a mountain) fully healed.
When the two of them died and Horuss met Equius and Nepeta, he was inspired by their moiralliegance and became moirails with Meulin, which caused him to become overly positive, counteracting Damara’s personality flip.
Rufioh wants to break up with Horuss because of the monotony of spending hundreds of years in their relationship, but doesn’t want to hurt his feelings. Though Rufioh is still friends with Damara, he has no desire to retry a relationship with her - however, the two are close enough to cosplay together, as can be seen in the background of the ministrife.
His red hair and clothing, his wings, and his horned sign may be a reference to the energy drink Red Bull, whose slogan is 'Red Bull gives you wings.’
