 “You don’t have any clue why you came here?” he asked, intrigued by the small dragon. He was curious was sort of event happened that connected his world the that of Dran’s. “Well, at least it sounds like you come from a wonderful world. You connect to humans..? What about these humans makes them special enough to become a ‘Vanguard’?” He was brimming with questions. Never had me met anyone so peculiar, and this dragon was most certainly an interesting being.

 “Those ruins were the remains of what was once known as the Celestial Capital. It’s part of a few cities that were once the centers for interchange between humans and seraphim like myself. That was a long time ago, though, before the Age of Calamity was brought about…” he explained, looking slightly saddened at the mention of it, “Now, humans have stopped trying to ask for our help, and we seraphs are trying to remain pure and strong. Malevolence is a strong force, however, and should it overcome a Seraph, we turn into a different king of dragon than you probably know… One of anger, pain, and misfortune.”

“Yep. No clue why I came here.” At least it wasn’t a freak accident of being called to the world. Or intentional. Chrono Dran looked a little down recalling this happened before on Earth but perked up again, staring at the person. “Really? I guess it is...As long as there’s no war that is...” Perhaps he shouldn’t have mentioned wars.

“Yep. I’m able to. Though it’s hard to explain sometimes. There’s certain circumstances or just, we see that connection and we strengthen our bond with the human. In my case, I was called out on accident thanks to my human’s imagination and it was when he was only...four? He has the same name as me too~!” Dran started to feel better the more he explained about meeting his human. 

He listened to the other’s words with curiosity and excitement. To think he ended up in a place that once was nice. It reminded him of the ruins in Gear Chronicle’s territory on Cray or the field Chrono Shindou loved to play on. His home turf as a human puts it.

Yet to hear about the Age of Calamity...He took notice of the person’s expression clearly seeing that he was saddened at just mentioning it. “I see. So you all have gone through tough times as well...No matter what world I go to, I see there’s always conflict. I hope you never reach that point.” After all, this dragon has gone through quite a past or time but he will only explain should his friend ask.

 “What, is there something wrong with me living in a village?” he asked, not caring much for the sudden question that was tossed his way. “So you’re from another world? What is it called, and why are you here?”

 “Hellions are beings that have been corrupted by malevolence, the evil that resides within most beings. Hatred, anger, pain, sadness… all of these things, when they get out of control, can turn people or animals into hellions, or even make one separate that is far stronger than most could imagine. They can be purified, of course, but it’s rather painful, I imagine,” he explained to the small dragon as he started to make his way back from the ruins to his village.

“No. There’s nothing wrong about that. I mean, it’s unheard of to me as where I come from, there isn’t such things as villages,” he explained. “Cray. Planet Cray. And why I’m here...I don’t know really.”

The gear dragon listened to the explanation. Sounds like this world has been plagued by evil forces. Definitely nothing like Earth he assumed. “That’s unfortunate. Well, you would love it on Cray as we Units are friendly...Most of them that is. We also connect to humans on Earth too, we call them, Vanguards.” Though that also reminded him about the Stride Gate and what it would do. Tipping the balance of what keeps both worlds in balance, the power of destiny itself. So this is what it was like for a world to possibly experience that misfortune.

“Also...What were those ruins that you found me in...?” This dragon’s curiosity had no bounds.

 “Well, then come on. I’ll take you back to my village and fix you something to eat there,” he said, giving the child-sized dragon a smile, “Mind telling me about these Gear Dragons on the way? I’ve never heard of them before, and I can tell you aren’t a Hellion.”

“Alright, wait...Village?” How far did he even travel on Earth? Or was this place even Earth? Chrono Dran had heard terms that was unknown to him. It would be best for him to stay with the person to find out more information. “Sure~! I’ll tell you about the Gear Dragons though you’ll be surprised they’re from another world along with myself~! Hellion? What is...A Hellion?” As well as the little Unit gaining more information himself.

 “A… what Dragon?” he asked, now completely confused. Normally dragons would be completely shrouded in the eerie fog that was the malevolence, but this ‘dragon’ looked pure. Hearing the other’s comment about wanting food, he couldn’t help but crack a small smile. “I suppose I might have some food back at home. You wouldn’t be willing to come along, would you?”

“Gear Dragon. That’s the species I am,” he explained. Seems this person was confused on dragons as well as lack of knowledge of the actual species. Possibly clueless about Units. “I don’t mind coming along.”

The tiny voice startled him, and he turned around and looked down, his eyes widening when he spotted the small dragon. “What…? Who are you? and what are you?” he asked, confused.

Dran should’ve known he would startle the person. Though he giggled a bit at the reaction of the other. “I’m Chrono Dran~! I’m a Gear Dragon~! Nice to meet you! Oh and if you have a lot of meaaaaaaaaaaaat, I would like some...”

Then sit tight! [cue very long explanation of things in S4 cause things happened and some guys got burned alive]

“Ahhhh...~! *impressed* Yeah he did though Altmile beat him. Oh...Left to wander aimlessly...Well, I wander around too while staying out of trouble. Oh...That’s harsh...Well...

A lot has happened to me and our comrades. We were used to open up the Stride Gate which affected Earth and Cray and apparently the two worlds are coming together and are closer so...Different World Ride...Is possible...Neo-san...I don’t know if you witnessed what happened...”

Chrono was a bit startled when a knight talked to him, but then he realized that he saw that Unit before. “Yeah, I’m Chrono, but my friends love to call me Swirl. To be honest, I was really surprised by Aichi’s skills. He seemed to be shy, but damn, he’s really serious when he cardfights.”

So it seemed the Vanguard recalled who he is while the dragon was in awe at the knight. It wasn’t a surprise anymore though, as Blaster Blade had helped Aichi Sendou during the two incidents. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Chrono Shindou. My Vanguard is shy and started out that way but, he’s become who he aspired to be. I see you’ve noticed…He does get serious in cardfights but he has fun throughout the battle. That’s just how he is.”

He then addressed Chrono Dran. “It’s nice to meet you too, Chrono Dran. I know it’s been tough on you since the Stride Gate incident. I’m glad you’re doing alright.” Blaster Blade knew it was a hard time for both Chrono and Dran, even more so now with a new threat.

“I see, I guess that he gets fired up while playing Vanguard. It reminds me of my friends, who also focus a lot more when they cardfight. I noticed too that Aichi is damn good, so it’s not odd that he kicked my ass.” Chrono didn’t mind to lose against a famous cardfighter, since it showed that he needed to learn a lot before being able to defeat Kazumi.

“Oh man, that Stride Gate mess broke me when I didn’t know if I could save Dran. Ibuki kept me in the dark about key information, so I admit that Myoujin could have pulled me into his group if I wasn’t sure that his plan was full of shit. He promised a perfect future, and it sounded nice on paper as it meant that I could be with my parents.” The redhead sighed, as it brought bad memories to him. “Good thing that he can get a new chance and see that the world isn’t as fucked up as he thought before, but I won’t forgive him for almost killing Chrono Dran and his friends for summoning that stupid gate.”

“Well, consider that Aichi’s a legendary fighter, Chrono~. You both really looked like you were having a blast!!! Been a while since I’ve seen that from you.” Chrono Dran teased his Vanguard. Despite all the difficulties ahead, for once, Chrono looked like he could have fun. “Mhm~! As long as I’m with Chrono, I’m fine. It really has been tough but we’ve been pulling through.”

Though...After Chrono responded with that remark, Dran smacked him.

“YOU REALLY HAD TO SWEAR IN FRONT OF HIM!? WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU?!” Dran believed it was offensive to the knight and for Chrono of all people to swear with his foul mouth in front of such a warrior...

“At least you were able to manage and get us back despite being given so little info from Ibuki! Though you’re right, at least he gets another chance.”
