Elder Clove, the oldest of the lot. He teaches Natural Sciences, and Philosophy! He doesn't want the kind of responsibilities that would come with leadership but is quite willing to give (mostly wanted) advice
Elder Baker is in a full on shouting match with Harper hahaha. He teaches History, Commerce, and the ancient language of that country. He and Harper always get into debates that perpetually heat up
Elder Cartwright teaches all the other languages from the continent, and while they are capable of magic just like the rest, they are questioning finding another job just to escape the rest of them xD
also i got kidnapped for movie watching during my trip so i got to see project hail mary, iron lung, and then when i was on the plane i watched sinners. really enjoyed.

uses this as an excuse to talk about ricaud tbh. so i'm actually gonna answer 14 and 15 first bc they're shorter answers and then i'll put 8 under the cut bc its long :)
14. Does your OC hold grudges? How good are they at letting things go? Do they believe in second chances?
ricaud doesn't believe in grudges and he's very good at letting things go/second chances. when he (and i) say that he's a lover not a fighter (though he can fight he just prefers love) i mostly mean that he prefers communication and diplomacy over might and power, which given his realm's history is "surprising." he thinks that everyone has the ability to be good and that most times they're in shitty circumstances, though he does believe that if you are doing Bad Deeds then you should have consequences for your actions. one such person is one of his (eventual) lovers, rivant, as they sort of have a "rocky" start to their relationship relatively. but yknow. eventually rivant gets over himself so all is well :)
15. What is your OC's fatal flaw?
he's lowkey a push over. because he values communication so much he sometimes lets people talk over him and bully him into stuff he doesn't really want to do bc he really wants to keep the peace. he's lowkey like me fr.
8. What does your OC's family look like?
i actually made ricaud's entire family tree awhile back so here ya go :)
this is basically the royal lineage of concordia from its creation to ricaud. i got a very vague plotline from how we got from a to z which i'll uhhh kinda detail and then perhaps i'll rant about his relationship with his father idk. but under cut:
general timeline thing (also as an aside: most of these rulers and people had waaaay more kids than are on the family tree, i just condensed it from the irrelevant heirs for sake of brevity)
queen nise of dawnbran entered into a pact with the elder goddess nynvia to protect her people from persecution and strife. she then founded the kingdom of concordia with the goal of creating a harmonious people who mediated conflicts around them and kept the peace between nature, the gods, and humanity. this is hilarious in hindsight :/ she gets married and to the prince of the largest neighboring kingdom and they have a daughter, the next ruler
king gascien continued the work of his mother and expanded the kingdom. had a kid
queen esylat just kinda continued building the kingdom nothing going on until her daughter and heir queen feride who converted to a new religion, straying away from the "pagan esque" (i don't have a word for it but yk what i mean) elder gods. in conversion, feride gave up her throne to become a nun so the crown just passed to her husband king apovere
it was around this time that the empire associated with this new religion that i have yet to name, the arouneian empire came into town and basically threatened concordia with imminent destruction unless they did the marriage treaty shit. many surrounding kingdoms did not sign the pacts and faced siege war and other nonsense, but apovere was pragmatic and was like why do all that when we can just join up. oh how we've fallen. anyway he marries the princess and makes enemies of p much every surrounding kingdom but has the empire to back him up so who cares. unfortunately concordia became p rich during this time and the repercussions of this will be haunting ricaud even decades/good hundred years later :))))))
apovere and princess had duke dryzent, the first ruler of concordia who isn't a king bc they're subjects of the empire and basically got demoted. so he's a puppet ruler. i listed the siblings bc they're important, but basically the main one that matters is lord drylles who marries a lady from the western part of concordia. concordia was divided into east and west a la germany by the arouneian empire to keep them from uprising. but this will be important for later lmao.
it was around this time that this world's kinda equivalent of wwi happened but basically it was everyone against the arouneian empire lmao. dryzent ended up getting MURKED along with his wife, but his daughter, brettie blakin was able to escape into hiding, changing her name and fucking a bandit. good for her.
the western part of concordia was actually chill tho bc they decided to join up with the other kingdoms (well, sorta its more like they were switzerland and ended up being spared) so lord emrys was spared and they kept their riches.
brettie and the bandit had 2 kids but nirene of the dead is the most important because she had a very uhhh interesting ability to just survive unsurvivable situations. we don't know how. dw about it. anyway she ends up marrying one of the minor lords that survived the world war and they have 2 kids; the important one is duchess orcassant.
elsewhere, emrys had lord kubeth who then had lord phector; who then had a son lord phector the second who married a random princess.
this was around the time that the empire finally collapsed, and this lead to a MASSIVE WAR FOR SUCCESSION in concordia and a buuuunch of people not listed on this tree ended up dying it was literally a hot mess. who matters tho is the two who survived (cousins mind you) who got crowned: king phector the third and queen kuvar. this began the "new" dynastic era in concordia. again. how we have fallen.
anyway, they have 2 sons: phector the fourth (god give it a rest already) and escowain, who was younger. however, he hated that his brother was going to have the throne so he finally ended the reign of phectors and killed his older brother in a coup, seizing the crown for himself. how was he able to do this? welp, king escowain is an empire revivalist and wants to restart the glorious era of the fictitious "concordian empire". lets just pretend the time we were a puppet state was actually us being super awesome and ruling everything.
he then proceeds to be an abusive piece of shit, kidnap a princess from one of their "former colonies" (colony of the arounien empire but WHATEVER), queen lith of starfell and forces her to be his wife. they then have our favorite baby boy, future king ricaud and young princess belafleur.
when lith dies, escowain's abuse ramps the fuck up and he thinks ricaud is too weak to be his successor. at 14 ricaud runs away with his page boy gleriath and they end up meeting an arkmagi hyhfrit who tells ricaud that he's destined to overthrow his father and return concordia to some SEMBLANCE of order.
ricaud ends up meeting and reforging the pact between himself and the elder goddes nynvia, he overthrows/kills his dad, becomes king and while there are some problems he p much goes on to have loads of sex, have lots of lovers, and be the bestest guy ever i love him :)
