Yup. Yahoo bought tumblr so its only a matter of time before this place  tumbles. Dont believe me ? Think about it.  Why would an ad driven mega-corporation even buy an artist driven blog sphere ? 

... remember GeoCities and what happened to that place once Yahoo purchased it ? Yahoo changed the User agreement allowing them to own any and all intellectual property and creative content that you (the user) put on "its" GeoCities.

So, here is my "grandfathered" Licensing agreement - Yahoo does NOT have permission to use anything made by me or posted by me on Tumblr.

Yahoo allowing my presence here on Tumblr means they agree with these terms.

I guess i am just sad that our little cool place has become uncool.

 A few pieces done a while back for a desert environment. The building is suppose to be a battalion HQ and the rocks are of course, rocks. The idea I had behind using this kind of building is its ability to allow C3 vehicles to connect by way of its high-bay doors.

While ABC showed viewers the glitz and glamor of Sunday night's Academy Awards from the red carpet and inside the Dolby Theater, across the street there was a very different show going on. Members of the visual effects (VFX) industry gathered on Hollywood Boulevard to raise awareness about the financial hardships faced by VFX houses, and the people who work to make our movies more beautiful. You might have heard something about it during the Oscars — if you could make it out over the Jaws music.

Applying for some jobs in this field require you to take a test. They will give you some constraints (poly counts, hierarchy, texture size, etc.) and an reference image. Here is one such "art" test i did for a studio a long time ago.

TDR (short for Carmageddon TDR 2000) had the ability to record game-play, but it could not record the vehicle animations (Bloodmixers drum turned in the game) or show all vehicle parts. You could save these videos to your hard-drive. The files were saved as uncompressed AVI files. I edited a few recordings of Blood Mixer and added music. The end result was a promotion video for both this add-on vehicle and the Lord of Destruction web site lod3d.net. The site is long defunct. Today that address goes to an unrelated Japanese site.

This video was completed and originally posted on Jan. 4th 2001. I do not know if this qualifies as Machinima but i added that as a tag.

Im going to try and get as much of my old Carmageddon TDR imagery and whatnot up and posted before i jump to newer stuff.

Here is Big Dog. This was an add on car (er, tank) for Carmageddon TDR made over a decade ago. It was 2nd only to Steamed in weight. Its climbing ability was 2nd to none. You could climb almost anything; mountains, some buildings and even walls with this thing. Big Dog was also almost impossible to destroy, but it was not very fast. Very easy to out run in any race if you could survive its onslaught!

3D model of a M113 A3 made a few years ago when i worked for Global Majic Software. This is the A3 (modern version) of the M113. This tracked vehicle first saw service during the Vietnam War back in the 60s. It was the first personnel carrier to use aluminum as armor. this allowed the vehicle to be air lifted while still offering protection from light arms fire.

After almost a year learning the workings of Re-Volt, I moved on to Carmageddon TDR 2000. The cars for this game were far more complex, but allowed far more creativity then what was possible in Re-Volt. TDR cars had collision, damage, moving parts, no wheel number restriction and allowed a lot more detail and geometry and texture maps. TDR also allowed several texture maps to be used on a single vehicle.

Here is one of my most popular creations, Blood Mixer as a Desktop Wallpaper. Blood Mixer was a cement mixer that was driven by a deranged doctor who was a cannibal. The mixers drum was a rotisserie that cooked his captors. I designed, built and textured Blood Mixer and it was tuned by Beroc (Who ran the then very popular but now defunct Lord of Destruction website, a very popular download site of additional content for TDR.).

Anyone remember the PC game Re-Volt ?

This R/C driving game from the late 90s was a game changer for me. It was what sparked my interest in game modding. Building cars was a big step up from changing texture maps on DoomII and Quake models (my first taste of modding). Re-Volt was one of the early games that was 'opened' to allow users to actively add content.  This was instrumental to Re-Volts longevity and this little game still enjoys an active fan base to this day (Just Google it).

Did these 2 models a while back on contract. The company used these in a video cut scene dealing with an enemy technical attacking a lone hummer on patrol. Hummer is shown rendered and Toyota is shown as outlined geometry. I could not find an image of the Toyota with its texture map and I don't keep most things done under contract. This untextured image may be the only picture i have of the work.

This is another add-on car that was done for the PC game TDR. This is the famous Cadillac LMR Le-Mans Racer. Like "loaded" this also used a few old school tricks to enhance the look and game play. The wheels were mapped so the black and grey of the wheels were on separate parts of the texture map. this allowed the spokes of the wheel to remain sharp and not MIP into a washy blur. TDR had a hardwired vertex limit of 5k points. Some models easily were made to be under this limit (like this one) while other were almost impossible to keep under 5,000 points.

This was done long ago to enhance an existing game... This is a very low poly B17 bomber done for a German blitzkrieg II mod. The texture map on this is only 256x256 pixels. This replaced the British bomber and was included in the night missions (Historically, the British bombed Europe during the day and the US bombed at night).

 Here is a pair of Soviet Era subs, A Project 949A Antey (top) & Project 971Shchukaand (bottom), I made these in the late 90s to depict 80s era cold war subs. The Antey (Nato name OscarII) is a cruise missile sub and the Shchuka (Nato name Akula) is an attack sub.

 If a battle group of these were ever unleashed on a surface fleet it would of been devastating. Good thing the US and Soviet Russia never went to war on the high seas during the latter part of the cold war. These were made for a water warfare game idea that was about just such a scenario.
