“That’s fair. Bites and bleeding out just seem like awful ways to go. Slow and painful.” She’d always wanted to die in her sleep, back when things were normal and that was much more likely to happen. Now, she just hoped to avoid it for as long as possible, and wanted to go fast when it happened. “I suppose so. Unless a wrench, customer service smile, or a cocktail can help them, I’m pretty much useless.”
“I think if I got bit, I’d just take a bullet to the head,” Harlan admitted honestly. Not that he thought he would be able to do so himself. Bite or not, he was terrified of dying.
