McCree picked the clipboard up, reading the
stranger’s name— shit. Hanzo— The Hanzo?
He cleared his throat, gesturing to Lena to take
over the desk as he stood, motioning for the other
to follow, “Lemme show you around myself. Be
nice ‘n hospitable, y’know?”
Once out of sight, Jesse turned on his heel, expression
serious as he chewed on his words.
“Thought you wouldn’t come. Genji told me a lotta ‘bout
you, so lemme get one thing straight. I don’t know why
you’re here, and I don’t care as long as you ain’t gonna
hurt nobody. Heck— might be bringin’ up some bad blood,
but I rightfully don’t give a frog’s fat ass.”
“So, I got one question— you here t’save the world or do
some fucked up shit t’someone you done hurt enough?”
He should have known he couldn’t make friends there. He should have known and he shouldn’t have even tried to acquaint himself with anyone. He should have just signed the damn paper and walked away. He felt foolish.
Now at least he knew he’d be spending his days alone. Avoiding everyone. For they all knew Genji’s side of the story. Not his. Not that he was forced to do it. That he’d been brainwashed. That he had no choice.
Not that anyone would care about his side anyway. He was a murderer.
He hadn’t expected any different. He knew people would know who he was based on his last name alone. It was shared with someone else they all knew well. But to be directly approached on it ...
It was a touchy subject, to say the very least. But he knew it’d happen.
His eyes slid closed, a heavy sigh leaving his nose as heat itched along his skin. A voice whispered to him to breathe evenly. To keep his upset under control.
The last thing he needed was to become angry. To lash out at someone who didn’t understand.
“I would not dream of hurting my brother ever again.” He stated, his voice quiet, lacking it’s stern tone.
“He is the one who convinced me to come here.” His speech was slow, his voice even. However, his eyes reopened to look the Cowboy dead in the eyes.
“But I would appreciate it if you didn’t bring up my brother’s and my story, lest you know the full truth.”
