The library wasn’t a typical haunt of Hana’s, despite the lackluster schooling she had experienced in her teen years. But sometimes people would mention important or famous literature, and if she felt it warranted further inspecting she might go looking for it. Or sometimes Ivah came home raving about some book she’d been shown in Kindergarden that she couldn’t really afford to buy for her, but could fairly easily rent. This was one of those latter times. However, it wasn’t often she saw a fellow VK lurking between the bookshelves. “Hey, stranger. Long time no see.”

Gil smiled, always a sucker for compliments, especially when it was for more than just his physique. Although he enjoyed the occasional admiration of the muscles he worked hard to maintain also. “Uh, I don’t know about that.” The bar had enough regulars from the Isle, VKs looking for a place in the safety of Auradon that reminded them of home. Now, he had nothing against serving AKs when they came in but inviting many more to come, he didn’t know that it was the best idea. “No, that’s totally fine with me. Whatcha want to talk about?”
“Oh? Well, that’s fine. They can be kind of annoying anyways,” despite her slightly jovial tone, Sofia really didn’t like saying that about anybody. But, people always had their, quirks, and she was a much bigger fan of talking over drinks than singing. Plus they might not fit in well with Gil’s, usual customers. While she may not have always been the best at reading social ques, it still wasn’t particularly difficult to tell an AK apart from a VK, and considering all the debocle with the Isle and the barrier... Well, safe to say that she wasn’t too surprised that so many seemed so hostile. “Nothing in particular,” she shrugged, “Just, feel like we haven’t caught up in a while. What’s been going on with you?”

“Well, I am the only one that makes them.” None of the other bartenders bothered making drinks without alcohol and only a handful made mixed drinks. For somebody that was considered inept by most, memorizing the drink recipes was fun and he loved learning new ones. “Neither. A good, steady flow,” he answered with a shrug as he mixed her drink. “What brought you around besides my amazing mixing skills?” He asked with a grin.
“Still the best though,” she winked, not fliratiously - well, okay, maybe a bit flirtatiously, but she wasn’t genuinely flirting - as she watched him begin mixing. “Really? That’s a shame. You really should be packed in here... Hey, you know what? I’m fairly sure the theatre majors are wrapping up some big project tonight, so I can nudge them your way if you want?” She knew that Gil’s typical patrons were other people from the Isle, which wasn’t entirely surprising, but she did hope that he’d be able to expand his patronship soon. It would be better in the long run, at least financially. “What, I can’t just want to talk?”

A soft smiled graced his lips as she agreed with him and he slowed his drinking pace, noticing that he was coming very close to the bottom of the cup. “ No harder than usual. Just long, ” he explained simply. “ What’ve you been doing lately? ” He asked since it had been a few days since they hung out.
"Long, then!” Sofia chirped, pushing her drink away from her slightly so she could better engage in the conversation. “Oh, not much, really. Mainly just school, some law stuff with King Ben. You know, the ushe. What about you? Anything going on other than work?”

— dahlia had watched her older sister before she made the decision to make her presence known and waved her down. She had always resented her because she was daddy’s favorite and she wasn’t. Maybe if things were different, they could have been close but living on the Isle and with their dad, it didn’t seem possible. Still though here she was looking to see how she was doing before going home to report to dad. “Hi. How about a coffee to start off and…” She let it drag before she dropped her hood from the sweater she was wearing under her leather jacket. “…any recommendations on what to get here?” She said almost to sweetly.
Head snapping up at the sound of the familiar voice, Hana cursed herself. Not aloud, because that might get her fired - she learned that the hard way - but internally. How lost in her own damn world had she been to miss that it was her little sister who had called her over? And most importantly, “Dahlia! What are you doing here?” Despite her best efforts to keep the light, polite air these sort of jobs seemed to expect from you, she couldn’t help but feel a little, tense. And she was sure that was showing, too. If not through her voice, then certainly through her body language.
islehunter:
“Hi, Sofia!” Gil waved back, smiling as Sofia approached the bar. Far from the usual sort that came into the bar, he appreciated that none of the regular VKs tried to hassle her. Their friendship probably had a lot to do with that. “I’ve got a couple virgin cocktails with your name on them. You in the mood for something with raspberry or strawberry?” He asked, already retrieving the non-alcoholic drinks he would need.
Sofia squealed at the mention of mocktails. “Oh. My. God. Your raspberry mocktails are the best,” it was a bit disappointing that they didn’t serve toon alcohol here yet, but she knew there were external reasons for that. Reasons that she and Ben were hopefully going to be able to deal with, at least eventually, but mocktails were delicious so she couldn’t really complain. “So, how’s your day been? Busy, quiet?”

— Ben leaned back in his chair as he looked over the documents. he had been trying his best to do what he can to help not just the VKs but also the toons who also came to Auradon. He knew some used the bands to try and fit in and he honestly hated that many where hiding because of the looks people gave him. It made him feel like another he was failing at. “Well what do you think? I took your advice from last time and some of my advisors added some stuff as well. it’s just a draft so if you want to add or change anything, right now is a good time. I want to try and do what i can to help everyone.” He said to Sofia.
Sofia appreciated Ben’s effort when it came to all this, she really did. But at the end of the day she was studying medicine, not law. So while she really did try her best to understand all the papers he presented her with, it really took her quite a while to read through them well enough to mostly grasp what they were saying. “I, think it’s okay? I don’t get all the legalese, obviously, but the most important bits are definitely covered here. Y’know, like making dip illegal and making sure businesses can’t decide not to serve us. I’m, a bit unclear on some of the more specific stuff, though? But maybe I’m just not getting it.”

the thick strawberry shake flowed slowly through his straw, keeping the smee boy from slurping it down like he usually did. sofia was the one treating him to the sweet drink after he spent a long morning fishing at the docks so he also slowed down to escape a lecture about his sweet tooth. “thanks for the shake,” he finally spoke when he released the straw from his lips. “i like strawberry the best but my brother prefers chocolate,” he added, glancing over at her.
“You’re welcome!” She beamed, as she sat down with her own milkshake. “Really? Well, everyone has their own preferences... But between you and me? Strawberry is by far the best,” winking, she took a long sip of her own refreshing shake, before she noticed exactly how much of his was already gone. “Wow, you really were thirsty, huh? Hard day at work?”
“Hi Gil!” Sofia waved, excitedly, as she sat on the barstool. Having been here more than would probably be expected of someone who didn’t even drink, she quickly got into her routine; pull out her card, put her purse on the floor, second guess putting her purse on the floor before reminding herself that it hadn’t been stolen yet, so it was probably fine, and then turning back to Gil. “What’ve you got in today?”
@islehunter
“Alright, so,” running a hand fervently through her hair with one hand as she held Ivah on her hip with the other, “There it is!” Grinning, she pulled the now-crumpled list she had written a few days ago from beneath some dishes that she still very much needed to do. “Right, so, here’s what you need to keep in mind while looking after her. I’m not, too strict with time or anything. So long as it all, you know, gets done. Oh and you can ignore all the, dishes and stuff. I’ll deal with that, later, I guess.”

Dizzy had just finished her shift at work when she decided it’d be the perfect time to go out and eat despite it being late at night. There was no doubt about it that even at midnight, the young Tremaine girl was pretty hungry. She grinned when she noticed one of the waitresses rushing to her.
“Hi, do you have any curly fries and milkshakes?”
“Of course, is tha- Do I know you from somewhere?” So that response wouldn’t be, entirely professional, if it turned out that she didn’t know her, but honestly the place was so empty that she’d probably get her food quickly regardless. Besides, there was just something she couldn’t quite put her finger on. She might have been another VK - only Gods knew that there were more than enough of them - but she’d done her rounds around the Isle, and if she was then she’d done a truly amazing job of avoiding her.
“Damn it!” Sofia wasn’t big on swearing, but in this case it felt justified. She had absolutely no idea why her car wasn’t starting. She knew that she wasn’t drunk, because despite having just come out of a bar she hadn’t consumed any alcohol, and while she had popped the hood to look at the engine she had no idea what she was really looking at, or for. Biology had always been a stronger skill of hers than physics, that was for sure. Luckily, it wasn’t long before she saw someone else wandering past.
“Hey! Um, excuse me? Hi! Do you know anything about cars?”

Despite the sheer size of Auradon, Harry Hook never seemed to be too hard to find. Maybe it was just his attitude, or maybe it was fake hook that he carried with him everywhere. Either way, Sofia finally had the drop on him, and she wasn’t about to let it go to waste. Sneaking up behind him as quietly and slowly as she could bear - which meant a lot of giggling and a speedy tip-toe -, she soon had her hands over his eyes from behind.
“Guess who?”

– ♔ It’s a stand off filtered with alarming amounts of tension the longer silence controls the atmosphere. Azure orbs keep steady gaze locked on the other until it’s all begun to gnaw away at her and then Katherine’s huffing out a measly excuse. “Et’s not like ah forced him inta et, ye know. He feckin’ ASKED me ta do et, he woulda given himself away if ah didn’t help him.” She doubts it’ll make a difference, “Coulda gotten himself KILLED.”
“...What?” Hana had literally just sat down, and honestly could not tell if Katherina was talking to her, or if she was talking to someone else and she’d caught the tail end of the conversation. Either way, she had gotten a nanny for the first night in weeks and had just been looking forward to a nice, quiet night of drinking. Well, maybe ‘quiet’ was the wrong word. A nice, toddlerless night of drinking.
