23/1/15 - not quite 18 months but close enough, missed 17th update. Thinking about growing the sides and dreading them as they grow. Fed up with the non-dreaded bits, it keeps sticking up in odd directions. Unless I shave them off! Started a couple congos. I have enouraged some of the thinner ones to do a two strand congo and hopefully they'll turn into nice thick dreads. Looking forward to the day when I can tie the front ones with the back.
4/12/2014.....I love multipurpose scarves! They're great for people with dreads. I especially use them for work to keep my hair out of my face. So I am always looking out for new interesting designs. Newly received this morning 2 items... One called yellow circles, the other rokker2.. Or along those lines. Very impressed. Bought from an ebay seller called magicscarvesuk... Bargain at less than £3 a piece and received within a day of ordering them, I will definitely be getting more.
29/11/2014 - 16 months! Woot woot! Yesterday I went to the hobby craft store. Unfortunately they didn't have any beads with big enough holes in them. Bought some anyway and made tom charm thingys and carved a couple of the wooden ones to get bigger holes, works fine. Also went to see a few bands at norwich last night (korpiklaani/tyr/sabaton). Fantastic show and got a photo with a couple of the members from korpiklaani. Brill! Good bunch of guys. So far the dreads are feeling great. Some bits tighter than others. Just can't wait until they're epically long like Jonne Jarvela!

03/10/2014 - 14 months. Right now, I am looking forward to having them long enough to tie back. The dreads themselves feel great. They're feeling pretty firm and solid nearest to the tip but the only thing I am currently getting bored of is wearing head wraps or tube scarfs to keep them back while I need to. Which is alot of the time. I still go swimming 2 or 3 times a week and have up until now refrained from purchasing a swimming cap design for people with dreadlocks simply cause of the cost to buy one and the fact that I have only seen them retailing in Australia. I havee gone through 2 regular swimming caps and torn both trying to get my dreads in. I wasn't 100% sure what chlorine does to dreads so this is one reason I use a cap. I believe the new one is in the post, I will let you know how it fairs. As far as maintainence goes, I have mostly crocheted the longest of the loose hairs and a little bit of twiddling the strands in my fingers. A bit of palm rolling as well. New: i bought some new beads on ebay - 4 wooden beads of different natural looking colours and a black metal cuff with a skull on the side. I'm hoping to find or make some more in the future, probably go for some themed ones. I've seen some beads with charms on. I particularly liked one I found on ebay with a black feather and some norse/pagan attachments which I haven't purchased yet.

17/09/2014 - i know it's not quite 14 months yet. But my dreads are feeling pretty good today. There still are some loose bits but they are looking good. Feeling quite compact and solid for the most part. A fair bit of new growth as well. Thumbs up! I haven't done an acv wash in a while though, so it is due one. This week I bought a set of 4 wooden beads, each a different colour, and a painted black metal cuff with a skull on it. Loving them. Also, got another bottle of dreadhead hq as my last bottle is getting low. The beads i got via ebay through a uk seller called ruthlottie. She has a nice selection of beads, metal, plastic and wooden, as well as charms and other bits 'n' pieces. Never had a problem with them getting here so, worth a look. I got the shampoo through ebay as well from altered_alex, but i got a feeling they have a website as well. Altered state or something.
29/08/2014 - 13 months. Most tips are knotted up really well. Some have whisped out which I haven't done anything to. Can't wait until they are long enough to tie back on their own. Still a bit of frizz though...
Long journey there and back... Delays and waiting. Was it worth it? Fuck yeah it was. Going back next year, you bet I am!
One year dreadlock anniversary!!! 28/07/2014 it has finally come! They are feeling pretty good at the moment. Very happy with the way they are going... I think they still have some tightening to do but they are in a step in the right direction. Awesomeness on my head! Also... Since august last year, i have almost lost 3 stone. Thats almost 18 kilos. :D
Progress thus far..... Moved a few about for better composition. Not liking where the resi evi umbrella logo is placed though. New additions - at the gates, nightwish tribal, another opeth logo (not sure it works there but it'll stay there for now), and a union jack (not that i'm patriotic or anything)... I have ordered a few more so hopefully they will be sent in time for wacken. Looking to get some more geek patches as well. Left some spaces for when i nose around the metal market! And this years wacken patch! Hope to start another jacket later this year using a denim shirt instead.
27/06/2014 - 11 months.... In 3 days it'll be 11 months since I had them done. Since going to the gym I have been washing the dreads more regularly but 2-3 times a week at the most. However less often in the weeks I go less regularly. Majority of the tips seem harder and more solid that the part of the dread nearest to the root. There are however a couple which don't feel as firm as the others. I have been playing with them alot, either twisting them in my fingers or palm rolling. There have been a few trying to congo but I have pulled them apart instantly. They feel quite dry still as I have been using a mixture of sea salt spray and the dreadhead hq shampoo with lush seanik shampoo. There are still quite a bit of loose hair and i've tried not to worry too much about them. Some at the roots and some at the body of the dread. I still get questions about how they were done and for more information, which I have been happy to answer and even let them feel the dreads. This is hopefully my way of helping change the myth about dreadlocks... Well, atleast in my area!
29-05-2014 : purchased from supermarket... Cheap-o garden twine and thread... Can be used for natural colour style dread wraps. Cut to size and twist twine and thread, then fold in half... And wrap around the dread. To keep in place, either tie on or use an elastic band. Rush job with photos but you get the idea.
29-05-2014 : 10 months! Woot woot! They do feel tighter lately. More a bit like rope. They were feeling quite dry as well so I bought some oil that was recommended by various dread info sites. More on that later. I ran out of the dreadhead hq shampoo a month a go so decided to use up the shampoo bars that i had. But, received some this week and I certainly have noticed the difference of not using it. This stuff is amazing. They made the dreads feel a lot cleaner and tighter. Anyway, back to work. Dreads, loving them.
I bought one of these beauties through ebay and I highly recommend it. This is my main-go-to towel for my dreads. These towels are a bit thicker than your usual microfibre towels. They soak up water very well and shorten the drying process a fair bit. The other good thing about it is that they don't leave any lint or debris in your hair. Thumbs up! Best towel ever!
19-05-2013 : recently i have made some dreadlock decorations using thread, bits of fabric or fimo clay. I wouldn't say i was good at it but i think they look cool. The black one with the red thread was fabric i cut into shape using cut-off's from my battle jacket. Last year i saw a stall at wacken open air that sold really small band patches so i hope this year he will be there again and i will make them into some dread beads or something. Fimo is pretty easy to use for basic beads but with time and practice, I hope to make some epic beads! More geeky shit!
