This is the story of a battle.
A battle fought within the walls of a strange building, yet in an oh so familiar town.
Nobody really noticed when the building went up.
In fact, it’d always been there, hadn’t it? There hadn’t been any new construction on Durdam Lane for years.
That must have been where it went wrong.Â
The letters soon followed, bringing each individual forward with the promise of their greatest wish. Oh, how gullible. One by one, the doors locked them in, but there came letters from each of them for the less gullible.
“It’s really true! You’ll love it!” They cried out, bringing the rest of the street in.
Our protagonist stands in front of the doors, the papers in his hands, his foot tapping nervously on the ground. It’s all too good to be true, he had always thought.Â
Nonetheless, he was the final one. Being alone wouldn’t suit him either, he’d decided. Though he didn’t believe a word of what the letters spoke, he was a curious man.
He wasn’t sure if he had a choice, anyway.
Pushing open the doors, he steps inside. All his friends stand in front of him-smiling, waving…
And it fades into black. He barely registers as he plummets to the floor, the figures fading into strange silhouettes.
-
And then he wakes up.
He doesn’t know how long it’s been. His phone is missing, everything he had on him is gone...his hoodie pocket has nothing but lint.
Standing, he glances around. The area he’s in seems similar to an office building, filing cabinets lining the walls and empty computer desks filling the floor. No windows around him, no sound in his ears. A small television on the wall, the screen blank.
Though he doesn’t want to leave the room, there’s nothing interesting to find in here. The cabinets are locked-no amount of prying will bust them open. All that’s left is a single door.
He moves to it, pushing lightly and nearly jumping out of his skin at the squeak of the hinges. Unlocked, at the very least.
The door opens into a hallway, fluorescent lights assaulting his senses. There is only one way to go: forward. His footsteps echo in the empty hall, the feeling of unease becoming quite familiar to him as he makes his way to the door at the end. Taking a deep breath, he once more pushes it open, relief washing over him as the faces of his friends and neighbors greet him once again.
They’re not quite as happy as the first time, that’s for sure. One figure rushes forwards, his voice soft and familiar.
“Tord! Oh, thank goodness you’re safe…” His boyfriend. Even in the worst of situations, Edd could make him feel alright.
He sinks into the embrace, his head barely reaching Edd’s chest.
A loud beeping invades his senses just moments later, and he frowns, reaching into his pocket. He could have sworn that was empty just a moment ago…
A tablet sits in his hands, small but bright. It flashes his name across the screen unlocking as he taps it. His face goes pale at the next words on the screen. The tablet falls from his hands and clatters to the floor, a shocked silence filling the room as everyone reads the same thing.
Welcome to the Killing Game! Can you make it out alive?

Tord is now open for questions.
