Prompt request: Being in a relationship and slowly realizing it isn't good for your soul....
"If my heart obeyed what mymind warned, I know for certainI never would have met you.Sometimes I wish my heartwasnât deaf.â
- Haley Hendrick
Yesterday my mom posted a picture on Facebook of my 5 year old brother Sam wearing a pair of shoes he picked out for his first day of preschool. She explained to him in the store that they were really made for girls. Sam then told her that he didnât care and that âninjas can wear pink shoes too.â Sam went to preschool and got several compliments on his new shoes. Not one kid said anything negative toward him about it.
However, my mom received about 20 comments on the photo from various family members saying how âwrongâ it is and how âthings like this will affect him sociallyâ and, put most eloquently by my great aunt, âthat shit will turn him gay.â
My mom then deleted the photo and told Sam that he can wear whatever he wants to preschool, that itâs his decision. If he wants to wear pink shoes, he can wear pink shoes.
Sam then explained to her that he didnât like them because they were pink, he liked them because they were âmade out of zebrasâ and zebras are his favorite animal :)
What does it say about society when a group of adults could stand to take a lesson in humanity from a class of preschoolers?
Words cannot express how happy this makes me.
Omg forever reblog
those shoes are fly as hell doe
YAS SAM LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU COULD WERK DOS SHOES BEW BEWÂ
Itâs okay to change your yes to a no. Yesâs arenât permanent. Theyâre something we choose again and again, each and every day. Something we have the right to recall and reconsider as soon as saying yes no longer feels conducive to our wellbeing and happiness. It doesnât matter whether you said yes to a job, a date, a relationship, sex, a favor to a friend, a social endeavor, or a vow of silence â you donât ever have to commit to something that forces you to compromise who you are and what feels right; especially if itâs something you agreed to under pressure, intimidation, or force. Changing your yes to a no might make people angry. It might hurt their feelings, cause them to see you as a flake, and result in lost connections. But if saying no means staying true to yourself, honoring your feelings, and making self-care a priority, itâs worth it. You are worth it. Donât let anyone convince you otherwise.

As you dissolve into love, your ego fades. Youâre not thinking about loving; youâre just being love, radiating like the sun.

iâm rebloggin this because it looks like a cute family photo where everyone is wearing a matching sweater and they all look uncomfortableÂ

THIS IS MY FAVORITE EVER WHO WROTE THIS

My womanhood is not delicate or generous. It is a snarling, wounded animal caged in gleaming bars of pride and hidden away in the blackest part of my heart. It is wily and ruthless and jealous of the company it keeps, and it bleeds day and night from a secret, raw need for the worthy one. It waits in the dark and howls out a lament for the one with a muzzle in one pocket and bandages in another, the man with teeth like knives and eyes full of starlight. I am a pillar of light and flame bottled up tight against intruders, and no man may open me or he will burn. Kisses from these lips are curses to the boys that steal them, and any one who looks at me too lingeringly calls down destruction upon himself, as though I am this centuryâs arc of the covenant. Why? Because I already belong to a bountifully cruel man with tenderness only for me. He is the supper-massive black hole at the center of my universe, drawing me closer with every second of these lonely nights and shuddering in anticipation for the day when he may swallow me up. On that day, he will come for the girl who thrills at silk scares around her wrists and a kingdom at her feet, and I will kneel for he who fears nothing but the curve of my mouth, the sound of my smallest whisper. I will wander through the halls of his heart with bare feet and loose hair, unafraid of what I might find there, and he will put the animal in me at rest with gentle words and firm hands. Together, we will make this world tremble. So do not touch me, brother mine, or we will make you understand what it is to burn.

đ on We Heart It.
She lives somewhere between London and New York. In an apartment that is as messed up as her mind but in a city that supports her art and her expressions. She is old enough to have tasted life but young enough to want more of it. The apartment is small but big enough for her thoughts as she only writes about that one guy that loved her but still broke her quietly because he couldnât deal with all her sharp pieces. She is a diamond in the rough; beautiful enough to make you fall for her but only to clean her out of the dirt. She married; the desk, the paper, and the pencil. She didnât marry the love of her life. She only writes to him and about him. And she only wears underwear and his big hoodie, he doesnât even know, she has it. Her hair is usually in a messy bun and her lashes are long even though she has given up on make-up. She started smoking as her friends predicted and as she was destined. Her coffee is still the same though; a lot of sugar and little bit of milk. Life is bitter anyways so you put more sugar in your coffee. She will always write about him and to him even though he found the ââright girlââ that means nothing because, She is famous. She is the writer of madness. He is the muse. He is addicted to her poems. Because Miss âRight Girlâ canât write about him.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!
this is perfection.
For real, as someone who used to have heavy self esteem issues in the past and suicidal tendencies and who managed to heal, move on and come to absolutely love life, I beg of you, whoever you are, to take these to heart. Itâs hard, but know that even if itâs a difficult fight, you can win.
Learn to love yourself, itâs the first step to loving the world and loving life.
