Sabreen is a friend of mine. I've known and her little family since last year, and they're desperately trying to survive these harsh times. It's even worse now that the surgery is over as she is now in need of medication, which is not cheap either.

Collins is gone.

Namaygoosisagagun First Nation/Collins has burned to the ground. The entire community is nothing but ashes after being quickly consumed by wildfires. They did not have any support from emergency services, and no one offered aid. The community saved themselves by escaping into boats because no one came.

Mishkeegogamang and Cat Lake have lost power. Families are ending up in shelters with nothing. Armstrong, Lac La Croix, Whitesand, Gull Bay, Lac des Mille Lacs are currently in the fires path and all members are being evacuated.

All this loss, all this devastation, and it was entirely preventable.

After steadily underfunding wildland firefighting and purposefully excluding Indigenous wildland firefighters and Indigenous wildfire organizations from wildfire operations, firefighter training, decisionmaking, and resource exchanges, in 2025, Doug Ford slashed the forest firefighting budget.

It's hard to ignore his decision to cut funding and leave us out of adequate fire training (even though we've lived with forest fires for thousands of years—far longer than settlers have been in Canada—and made sure fires like the ones we're all seeing today were prevented through kinisitotēn) when, despite making up less than 5% of the population, we account for 42% percent of all wildfire evacuations in Canada.

And when we are successfully evacuated, we face discrimination and racism—like Kashechewan—because it's always been easier to blame us than it is to blame the true culprit: denialism, corportate greed, and colonization.

The people of Collins and every other impacted community deserve better.

Right now, the AFN is currently accepting donations to help Collins First Nation. If you're able to, please consider donating.

ONWA (Ontario Native Women's Association) is another great place to donate to. They have outreach vans going to motels and inns and offering food, water, resources, and cultural support to those impacted by the wildfires.

Other places to consider donating to are Mikinakoos Emergency Fund, Red Cross, True North Aid, Indigenous Climate Action. You can also send donations directly to Whitesand First Nation via e-transfer ([email protected]) and they request that you add your full name in the e-transfer comment section to receive a tax receipt.

This is how large Clark Kent is meant to be.

A true bear in human form. He has to duck down every time he enters a room, his shoulders are too wide to walk in straight through a door.

He tries to find oversized suits but it's next to impossible to find something that is an oversized fit. He towers over everyone. The only reason he's not been exposed as Superman is because of his hypno glasses.

He's 6'5+ and his voice alone is enough for Bruce's knees to get as weak as boiled noodles. He looks like a twink next to Clark and he's never found anything as hot as this.

Going out on a limb here, but what if he is that large, but people done perceive him to be.

Now stay with me here, what if the glasses he wears that change how people perceive his face, also change how people perceive his fisyque too.

We all know that one of Clark's best ways to blend in with humans is to hide himself in a suit that's one or two sizes too big. Yes he's a farmers boy and yes he grew up likely with enough food in his system to allow his body to reach that level of big.

But I have yet to see or meet a farmer that's thicker than a bridge and sturdier than a brick wall. Not saying they don't exist, but there would have to be more behind his diet and work out routine to get that large.

In that panel he has closer to a body builder physique that, statistically speaking, are muscles for show and that are useless outside of the gym.

A farmers muscles are ones that are earned by doing farmer things say like helping cattle, lifting huge amounts of hay a day, likely doing things with other animals such as carrying sheep sometimes for a distance (I know little about what farmers do). But even muscles earned by that are not that big.

What I'm saying is it's basically impossible for a human to have that physique naturally. And yes I know he's not human, and Kryptonian biology and physiology is very different to a humans, but that's the point. Wouldn't it be odd for a farmers boy who works as a reporter to have a physique like that?

So getting back to my original point, what if he does have that physique naturally, but to hide and blend in better with humans, his glasses alter how people perceive his body to be one that looks natural?

I was thinking about Clark's glasses being able to do that the whole time I was typing this post. It just makes so much sense you know.

In my opinion Clark is huge, and not the kind that is normal or usual. It's not a physique that farmers could achieve only through farm work. He looks more like a powerlifter and you cannot just brush off that kind of physique off of your back like water.

His glasses altering his appearance as a whole makes so much sense. Bruce is dumbfounded/gobsmacked/flabbergasted when he finds out Clark Kent, the mild mannered, 6'1 mildly jacked man is Superman— 6'6, 300 pounds, muscles built to last a millennia. After finding out about it Bruce is stuck to him like a cat to a pole, he never wants to come out of Clark's bear hugs or even think of getting away from his heater/scratch pad/cuddle blanket/ rumbling machine.

If his appearance does alter his whole appearance then I want him to be an absolute unrealistic unit of a man when he's not using them.

Hello Occa! I hope you're doing well. I recently found out that the reason I go days without being able to eat and intensely dislike solid foods is because I have gastroparesis - essentially my stomach is somewhat paralyzed. Since I pretty commonly projected those issues onto Bruce in the past I wanted to toss it your way as potential prompt. Maybe from the angle of well-meaning but deeply flawed Alfred. He keeps forcing Bruce to eat full proper meals after his parents passing and doesn't realize that Bruce is still vomiting after/refusing eating not due to grief but a legitimate medical issue. He's not trying to be cruel but he's scared Bruce will waste away. Bruce gets diagnosed during his training and when he comes back he doesn't tell Alfred, just makes the diet adjustments a part of his regiment with Batman so the man won't feel guilty but won't feed him such large or such solid meals. Bruce eats the large meals placed in from him at family events and holidays, hiding that's he's in pain and sneaking off to throw up. He doesn't tell his kids either, maybe he kept secret at first so Alfred wouldn't find out then later so they wouldn't feel bad for having teased him about his eating habits - something he enjoyed, most of the time. Maybe one of the kids finds him throwing up. Would be fun if Jason found out after he baked/cooked something for Bruce for the first time-post resurrection and catches Bruce heaving in the bathroom after. You don't have to do anything with this but would love it if you did🩷

"You could've just said you didn't like it if it was that bad," Jason said afterwards. Afterwards, because he wasn't actually that much of an arse, and when he came across the man worshipping the porcelain throne his first instinct wasn't to make it about himself, and he instead kneeled next to him, rubbing his back, flushing the toilet when he slumped aside and wiping off his face like they'd suddenly swapped roles and Jason was the caretaker. It was weird. He doesn't like seeing Bruce so weak.

"Not that," Bruce had gasped, a hand curled into claws over his stomach as he slumped against the wall. "Was nice flavour. You're a good baker."

"That's why you're throwing up?"

Bruce grimaces. "Just something...don't worry about it, Jay."

So Jason had nodded, and pretended to agree, and after Bruce had clapped him on the shoulder and hobbled away, he followed the instinct tugging at his gut and followed it down to the Cave.

It would be so easy to find out why Bruce was throwing up.

I will preface by saying composure where? Everyone is losing their shit.

"Sound off!" Barbara orders, a hand pressed to her comm. She has all of her monitors set up, she can see the red dots in her peripheral, but she can't tear her eyes away from her main monitor.

Not when that is the screen where she is watching Batman die.

"Two minutes out," Nightwing pants.

"Turning onto Henel Ave; three minutes." His bike's engine roars, but she switches her attention to the growl of the Batmobile's engine.

"Catching up to Nightwing now, Oracle."

"Red Robin."

"I'll get there."

"Where are you?"

"I'll. Get. There."

"Then fucking hurry," she snaps back.

Bruce arches as another surge of electricity hits him, and Joker's laugh crackles through her headset. It sends a shiver down her spine, and she watches Bruce intently. He's too good to give Joker the satisfaction of the torture, he won't make a noise, but selfishly, she wishes he would. Just once. Something to let her know he's still breathing, the boys aren't too late, she hasn't just lost another person to the Joker.

"Medbay's ready," Duke reports. "Leslie's on the way, Alfred's ready to scrub in, Cass and I are ready to receive Bruce however you bring him in."

"You bring him in," Cass repeats, a demand.

"We will," Damian swears.

Dick's follow-up somehow doesn't feel like a reassurance. Or, not just a reassurance. Given how bad Bruce looks, it also stands to possibly be a goodbye.

"We're not coming back without him."

Barbara watches Joker throw his head back with a laugh, and two thugs lumber into frame, lugging with them—

"Hurry," she orders. "Bruce needs you."

"What's changed, O?"

"Joker has— fuck, I don't even know what it is, but it's clearly... fucking hurry up."

"I'm there, I'm here, where the fuck are you guys?!" Hood yells.

Dick heaves a deep, whistling breath. "Red?"

"I'm here, let's go—"

"Going dark," Damian rasps, and four beeps sound in her ear as they cut off their comm lines.

"Are they gonna make it?" Duke asks, and she presses her fingers to her mouth, watching the masked goons aim the whatever-the-fuck at Bruce's exposed, battered, bleeding chest.

"One bad day," Joker sing-songs. "You never agreed, Bats. Shall we find out whay your birdies think?"

Barbara breathes a sigh of relief as the flash of blue she glimpses in the pixelated shadows.

They made it.

Bruce is safe.

They converge around Joker, stepping out of the darkness to surround him from all sides.

Nightwing holds a glowing baton under his chin, and Joker tinkles a laugh that is cut off by the crackle of electricity.

"Let. Batman. Go."

Thinking about that one fic idea where Bruce is heading for a death match and the only kid he tells is estranged Jason because he needs someone to keep the other kids from getting involved or they'll die and "you'll let him kill me". And Jason is in shock that Bruce thinks their relationship is that bad that he would let Bruce die, but then has to reconcile that he will.

Then he has to stand there, a human barrier against his siblings as Bruce fights, and has to let him fight and just hope he doesn't die. He can't. Jason can't have agreed to just stand by and watch while he dies, right?
