One of the things I love about Jaime and Brienne is that they are both the first friend the other has had in a long time. They don’t say it, they never even allude to it, but they are both just in each other’s corner the entire time without either of them dwelling on it or really thinking about it.

Jaime has childhood friends and cousins, he has his siblings and his subordinates, but the first person he ever he could tell his deepest, darkest secret to was Brienne. Brienne has had a lonely past filled with false friends, one trusted servant, an acquaintance she mistakes for more, a short-lived mother figure, and a distant father. Yet she never knew any of them on the deep, intimate level she knows Jaime. She never knew Renly or Catelyn’s secrets, or anticipates their responses and reactions, in the way she does Jaime’s.

Their relationship is one of the only examples of true friendship they each experience, and I think that’s so cool!
