First things first: IT'S NOT FREEDOM OF SPEECH IF YOU'RE INVALIDATING AND DISCRIMINATING PEOPLE FOR WHO THEY ARE, THREATENING THEIR DAILY LIVES. WORDS CAN HURT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A HUGE PLATFORM AND WHAT YOU SAY COULD INFLUENCE MASSES.
So. I've been ghosting from IG and my Tumblr blog for some personal issues and I think I'll continue to do so for some more time. BUT. We all know what happened with JK Rowling the past few weeks, and I've personally been quite vocal about what I think about her statements on my private accounts and in groups dedicated to HP, but right now I wanted to do something for the DA Fandom. I haven't even finished DA:O yet, I'm still an outsider but as a Potterhead and a member of the LGBTQ+ community I wanted you all to know that I understand what you're feeling right now. I can't speak for every single person in the HP fandom but I know that the majority would stand with you as we stood against the woman who gave us the Wizarding World and then decided to invalidate our trans brothers and sisters. I know that you feel betrayed by Greg Ellis supporting Rowling, but he can't take away what you felt playing DA from you. That will always be yours. Cullen is yours. He belongs to you all, Ellis is not Cullen. Don't let him ruin what you hold dear.
As for my fellow Potterheads: it's the first time I post about this issue on IG and Tumblr, so I'll take this opportunity to remind you all that we can still love the Wizarding World without supporting JK Rowling's toxic statements and behavior. We can support unofficial merch and independent creators! Stay all safe and hydrated!
