Soul food is unmatched
i must not get takeout. takeout is the wallet-killer. takeout is the little-death that brings total obliteration. i will face the kitchen, fridge, and pantry. i will make choices about what to cook and then execute them. when hunger is gone there will be nothing. only i will remain.
i love.... calm men. like some men just have this really soothing, gentle, calm aura. as a girl who is highly strung and often suffers from anxiety and paranoia, I love a man who’s good at comforting you, who’s relaxed vibe rubs off on you, talking to him eases your anxiety and you just feel calm and safe
Black and Latina teen moms get slut shamed.
But white teen moms get TV shows and fame.
Must be nice.
Been saying this ever since Teen Mom started.
Since “Juno” was a hit.
☕️🗣 @puremarula
It’s like they treat white teen pregnancies as accidents due to innocence and Black and Latina teen pregnancies as inevitable confirmation of their hypersexualised views of POC and Black Girls.
I mean pregnancy in general. Just look at 19 Kids and counting. White women has too many kids and she gets a show and her kids get spin off shows. If she had been a WOC she would be ridiculed and seen as a problem…
Latina and black women pregnant means more latinx and black people are coming into the world.
They don’t like that.😐😑😔

I was eating dinner with my mom and when she went to pay I noticed a “Hooters” frequent diner card or whatever in her wallet. I asked her WTF, and she explained that a friend of hers got a coupon for the grand opening and so a group of them went for lunch just to try it out. This is a group that consists of women from their 50s into their 80s. Apparently the food decent but the service was amazing, and the servers were “all such wonderful girls, so sweet! Said it was nice to take a break from all the gross men they had to deal with.” So they decided to come back. Now they go once a week at least, and the Hooters waitresses fight each other for who gets to serve them. Anyhow I thought it was cute.
I am all for the idea of a bunch of aunties and grandmas invading a space typically dominated by men acting like gross creepers and just taking the fuck over and being nice to the ladies on staff.
Because who the fuck is gonna argue with an army of polite older ladies?
Nobody, that’s who.

Not all that Glitters is Gold….
They exist in Haiti. Thats how my great great great grandfather died.
Wait hold on someone explain this to me I’m so lost lol
The belief is Haiti is that certain women can live under water and will lived there for years… These women are extremely beautiful and men being men can’t stay away from a good looking women are seduce and then dragged under water and are never to be seen again… My great grandmother was one of these women… One day her mother sent her to go get water from the river and she never came back 10 years later they see her come up the road in all white with beautiful jewelry all around her body sing up a storm.. When her family asked her where she was she told them she was under water… thats the story my grandma always use to tell me growing up

I love African and African Diasporan mythology.
we call them “river mumma” in Jamaica
I NEED MORE MYTHOLOGY INVOLVING BLACK CULTURES IN THE DIASPORA.
We call the “mammi water” in Nigeria
Can we leave these in 2016 please?
