Is there anything you would want to change from the digital circus (even if it something little) if you have to do it all over again?
I'd want to probably explore Pomni's angry side a bit more. She was originally going to be a much angrier character, but after casting Lizzie, she was so nice and sweet that it was toned down a bit, but I kind of regret that. Some of Pomni's anger issues made it through to the final thing, but I wish I made it more of a key part of her.
OK. How do I word this without the people that I’m intending to talk to clicking off of it immediately.
These are not spoilers. As in, this contains no content about The Last Act finale. However, there is a glaring lack of certain things that I’m gonna say, take all together, collectively, 95% of the fandom probably expected to be there.
So, if you want to be steeled beforehand that you’re not gonna get to see said stuff, so you can have a more positive experience than waiting the whole runtime and it never happening, read on.
So, under the cut, let’s start with (a) characters that don’t show up that you probably really, really want to (not discussing Caine, you’ll be going in 100% blind on that) (b) plot points that SEEMED important, but were totally absent (c) interactions between two characters that it’s SHOCKING did not happen.

Yup. She is nowhere. We don’t get to hear her story. Do not get a reason for her death. Apparently, Gooseworx thinks that making a really crappy and OOC-feeling merch ad about it is sufficient.

Yes thank GOD the theories and fanon about him being a secret antagonist weren’t true. This is the only one I’m actually relieved about. We needed the cast to have this chance to bond, to continue to be real people dealing with real problems, not turn it into a (too) cartoonish story. They already filled the quota on that in ep 8.

This one is really devastating to me personally. But I try to be understanding about it, in the grand scheme of things. At the same time. Before I went, I said to myself, you didn’t have to give him a whole conversation with anybody or Caine, should he come back or not, you didn’t have to make it a big deal. But one hand on the shoulder from somebody, a shot of the group of AIs having a powwow like you did in music montage twice. ANYTHING.
The final time we see this man is going to be cemented as an almost-mind-controlled tool to hurt the person he existentially bonded with????????
Why would you do this.
And I don’t even get the sense that it’s supposed to be a ‘lingering tragedy’ thing, since it’s not discussed either, it just feels like he was an afterthought.
And this leads into a much, much more disappointing problem. The issue of snapping and/or deleting AI’s? It was not brought up at all.

Like, Pomni should’ve covered that in her vent in episode 8, to begin with, but that it is absent here is . . . just mind-boggling.
Just a character going “ah yeah that was so cruel that he deleted that mannequin”
But, it rly seems like, despite Gummigoo, the narrative was never interested in even bringing up the notion that they were people.
Jax is allowed to unleash a rampage on them in 2. He’s allowed to chew up his counterpart. Pomni giggled at that second one. o_o
So. How. t.f. How tf does that work. You set up her crushing on Gummigoo, but never explore that?
I was having her wrestle with that hypocrisy as early as last October!!
You have Caine refer to himself and Bubble as THE SAME kind of being in ep 5, but the notion that he might’ve dehumanized the other AIs because he himself was dehumanized, that was never the aim???????? Really???????
The narrative expects us to sympathize with Caine, but the other AIs are disposable??
Now. Next thing.
Not even in flashbacks, do Kinger and Caine get a SINGLE CONVERSATION. And Kinger does not discuss killing Caine AT ALL.
What. The. Actual. Fuck.
I’m going to have to baptize myself in fanon content about it just to get over it.
At this point, it doesn’t even matter if the fanon is Outright Enemies, or Kinger is passively relieved the AI lording over them all is gone, paternalistic-towards-the-cast style, or sad about deleting his creation, or if he doesn’t know how to feel about it because he never got to know him that well, but wished he did, or if they were estranged friends, estranged lovers, estranged father and son, DON’T CARE. But GIVE us a STORY.
(as most of my followers know by now, I //heavily// prefer storgic RoyalTeeth over romo RoyalTeeth, but hell let it be canon! At least they’ll be INTERACTING! Even if it’s in the past! At least we’d get to explore Caine’s apparent shame over Scratch-and if it applies- Queenie)
Give us SOMETHING!
Not a black hole elephant in the room that sits in the middle of the narrative.
Nor does anyone discuss the box he was shoved into.
I wanted to do a more extensive post on the things I felt were missing, but I just kept putting it off, and now it’s crunch time.
Listen. I was willing to put up with Jax hogging the spotlight in 7. It was mildly irritating, nothing more. It was even much less egregious in 8. But he fuckin metastasized in the finale.
I liked what we got about Jax. How it was done, etc. But, that you dumped everything else that was so much more fascinating about this story in favor of your self-blorbo is just … I’m still trying to process it.
RAgatha is the one who’s been through the most shit in the circus, been stranded for who knows long with a guy who could barely talk, and yet she’s hardly present in the narrative. She never gets to have a conversation with Jax after 5. She doesn’t even get the honor, in ep 7, of being expressed as MUCH closer to Kinger than Pomni. Because she has to share the spotlight with the protagonist, I guess?
And said man’s advice ultimately didn’t wind up where a lot of us thought it did.
I keep looking for any scrap of confirmation that Kinger’s line “the worst thing you can do in this world is make someone feel like they’re unwanted or unloved” was MEANT to apply to Caine. (Because it seemed SO obvious.) And not finding it. Maybe other people can do a better job, idk.
Because if the point of this story was never that any of the humans didn’t reach out to Caine, in a show that, QUOTE, “is all about relationships,” what exact type of story did you think you were writing?
I do NOT understand.
If it was about relationships, the coldness that the humans had towards him was just … never going to be relevant??
I liked the information we found out about Caine. Immensely, even. I am rapidly oscillating between loving the finale and being devastated by it. And I hope, by writing this post, I gave someone out there a chance to sort through all that BEFORE they see the premier on YouTube, set it aside, so they can fully enjoy what awesome stuff we DID get.

Hazbin S3: Vox, taking a temporary step back from his company, goes to the hazbin hotel for a while as a PR campaign to improve his reputation again as he plans his next power move (plus he'll be close to (and can mess with) Alastor (if he stays at the hotel) and perhaps collect some crucial information).
