We made it to the Smokies at 0800 today. Can you believe we were the third car in the parking lot? I’m thinking that 0600 will be the perfect time to avoid all humans. You should have seen the parking lot when we left at 1400! Massive crowds of people marching in as thunder booms overhead. The people unbothered by it’s warning. We took an early morning family trip to the forest. It was so lovely to hear the woodpeckers and other various song birds welcoming the day. I am grateful for the forest and the peace it brings. I waffle between feeling frustrated and scared/overwhelmed. I just want to freely enjoy my favorite time of the year. Everything is so uncertain and strange now. That being said, my heart and prayers go out to all the people who have gotten sick and their families and friends.
