Ambient track. Sliced, pitch-shifted and glitched guitar + time splicing/shifting
Ping Timeout
Dark ambient meditative track. Sliced, pitch-shifted and glitched guitar.
What the cats see
New drone track.
I recently began to have interest in working with Impulse Response measurement and convolution reverb
You can find the IR that I collected during the recording of my last soundscape in a railroad tunnel on the University of York's project dedicaced to auralization : OpenAIR on this webpage :http://www.openairlib.net/auralizationdb/content/railroad-tunnel-purnodes-tunnel
The soundscape : http://youtu.be/5myJ3VVq0FY
Website of the OpenAIR project : http://www.openairlib.net/
About Impulse Response : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impulse_response
About Convolution Reverb : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convolution_reverb
I usually post my works under CC-BY-NC License, but the nature of IR (more physical measurement than creative work) leads me to choose to use CC-zero ;)

Railroad Rainfall - Soundscape Rain falling on a railroad, the point of hearing is inside a tunnel, a few steps from the entrance. We can enjoy the very bright impact of the rain on the track ballast magnified by the awesome reverb of the tunnel. Recorded in 2014/12 at "Le tunnel de Purnode" Belgium. It was the occasion for me to experiment Impulse Response collecting and post-processing to enhance the nice reverb of the tunnel.
Harsh noise, No-input music
No-input Music is creating sounds without the interaction of a musical instrument. The sound is generated, for exeample by looping a mix-console in itself to create feedback, buzz, larsen, ... etc, and plays it as an instrument by applying filters, EQs, gain and so on.
For this track I use a Delay Pedal for guitar; the Boss Digital Delay/Pitch Shifter PS2. I plugged a jack with no instrument in it, and generate digital feedback riff and looped it. This pedal is not a looper, so I put the feedback at the max to repeat the riff. Because of the nature of this pedal, each iteration of the riff is more noisier than the previous one.
The idea of this track is to explore the degradation of the signal/noise ratio from a precise sound to noise in parallel of deteriorating the signal.

"Fluage" A Dark Ambient Drone, with very immersive textures. This track is a follow-up to my previous time-manipulation tracks. I tried to develop a response between the time perception and the dynamic feeling to make this Drone as vivid as possible.
Dark Ambient track, done by extreme time stretching a sample from "RAF Volmet" radio emission. I post processed the original voice, layered it to create an heavy and wide choir effect.
Done with Paul's Stretch, Pure Data, Audacity. Tracked, mixed and masterised with Harrison MixBus.

Time stretching of a multi-layered heavy pad.
Made with Puredata, Paul'stretch, Audacity. Tracked, mixed and masterised with Harrison MixBus
Helios - sound from the Sun. A drone/harsh noise track with phasing.
This is a tonal reconstruction of the sounds generated by the Sun. Basicaly, the frequency of these sounds are very low (the root note is 3233.3 µHz mean 0.003233Hz; human earing range starts from 20hz) so I've transposed of 15 octaves up.
I made the tonal reconstruction using about 80 oscillators to reproduce the fundamental frenquency + the main harmonics. I sourced the data from the wonderful book "La nouvelle musique des Sphères" by the Astrophysician Sylvie Vauclair
Please use good sound system to enjoy, at least a good headset, a lot of low frequencies that laptop's speakers can't reproduce.
I coded a sequencer in PureData which allows me to generate, from one sequence, a phasing with multiple timelines. The base sequence is stretched by 1% to make a 8 minutes phase, produces a kind of hypnotic moving melodic tapestry. Bass line & ornementation are declined from the orignal sequence. To generate the base sequence, I use the cellular automaton that I already used for this track : https://soundcloud.com/valvalion/conways-time-sweep-01
Work on textures, timbre and time feeling. The melodic part was designed by procedural composition, I use a cellular automaton to process it.
Used on this track : Ardour3 & Audacity for tracking, mixing and post processing, ZynAddSubFX for modelizing the Guitar Harmonic sounds, PureData for everything else.
Granular piece, including a long phase.
All material came from a vocal take, granulated and post processed in Pd, produced and mastered in A3.

40 minutes of a very wide immersive soundscape of a driving car on the highway, the rain starts at 09:00. (Better with good headphones)
