My first reblog is rebishumn220's video which is of her walking through a part of downtown. In this particular video you can see how quite it can be during the day while people are in class but if you were to record downtown on a friday night it would be quite the opposite of that. She also states that they're a "good amount" of homeless people here in Chico, which I find to be false coming from some one who was born and raised in and around Los Angeles. The amount of homeless people in Los Angeles to the amount in Chico is flabbergasting. My second repost is "I spy with my little eye" because that was literally one of the nicest back yards I have ever seen in my life. It was so silent in the backyard, you could hear the birds chirping in the background and the crunching of the leaves seemed much more loud and intense than it should have. When I look at this space I feel relaxed and at ease or a better term would be free, free of stress and conflicts that occur on a day to day basis. This space seems like a space you could use to escape your troubles and if I could utilize this space, I would use it to meditate in. And the doggies are really cute. And lastly, I chose Silvahumn220s "Gosh,I look like a drinker!". This video caught my attention almost immediately because of the title. I feel like her title had a good comedic sense to it because she also owns a plethora of shot glasses, ranging in all colors and sizes. Her desk seems like it has a lot of things on it but they're all organized, I like to call this an organized mess. Her desk has things most typical females have, such as make up, a hair straightner, organized school supplies. She also shows the different bottles that she has in her room, hence the title "Gosh I look like a drinker". The first thing I noticed when she skimmed over the bottles, was the bottle of jagermeister, mmmm taste like cough syrup and rubbing alcohol.

Welcome to the jungle

I start off by walking from the end of my hall, as I do this you can see a friend of mine walk by with a Waldo costume on. I chose to record this last Thursday, so every one was getting ready to go out and party. I also walk by another friend who's standing shirtless at his door, he also recently got that tattoo on his chest so it kind of caught me off gaurd. In the distance you can hear music and muffled talking with the occasional out burst. I than make my way into to 7th floor lobby which is my initial space; when I walk into the room with my phone,it seemed like all the attention immediately switched to me. The walls were coated in fake spider webs and for decoration my floor put fake spider, condoms, and flavored lube on the spider webs. I also recorded the downstairs lobby because I found it intriguing how the space is seperated from public spaces and private spaces. The recreational spaces were mainly centered like the pool table, ping pong table, and the tv area. Than they have the booths where it's secluded and private. Even though the booths are private, the space inside the booth could be an open space.

(tumblr would not let me upload the whole video) But my video is footage of downtown Chico and the area surrounding my space of which it is located. I feel my video portrays downtown well and shows what goes on during a typical day. It shows cars driving by, all the shops, construction, beautiful trees, as well as a homeless man walking in front of me, which may be inappropriate to say but there is a good amount of homeless people who spend a lot of time in downtown. It shows that downtown is not busy 24/7 compared to downtown in let’s say L.A., because people are attending class and working. By filming this I also noticed how it was actually pretty quiet and calm

I Spy With My Little Eye

In order to get the feel of entering my space, I wanted to make it more dramatic by showing the door opening in the beginning of my clip. I thought that would be a good starting point for exposing my space to the audience. As you saw in the video, the first thing you notice when walking into my space is the greeting you receive from my pups. No matter when you walk into this space, you will receive a greeting from them, which will only makes you enjoy the space that much more. I tried to include visuals of the main features of my backyard that I drew on our last assignment. Some of the features I showed images of were the following: Barbeque, Grapevine structure, Pool, Grass Area and Garden. One thing that I wanted to capture that I couldn’t with the picture of my spatial observation, is the space. My backyard is about an acre big and it’s hard to depict how big it is when looking at a photograph of the space. It is much easier to see the spacing in the video. Even though this assignment is leaning more towards what you see, rather than what you hear, you can hear throughout the video the noise of the cars driving by on the freeway. But even with this noise, while watching the video, I still see my place as a good getaway that helps me with relaxation and focus.

Gosh, I Look Like a Drinker!

As I wandered through my room, I noticed I had a water bottle on my “vanity” as well as another three on my night stand for when I get thirsty. I have a shot glass collection on my TV stand/dresser and then another collection of empty liquor bottles on my book shelf. It seems as though I have a sense of repetition with water and alcohol. Maybe I’m just a drinker and those are the only two liquids to quench my thirst?

This is basically a birds eye view of my space which is Whitney Hall. What I would like to portray in this photo is the convenience of living on campus, specifically Whitney hall; especially for me. This is because the majority of my classes are in halls that are relatively close such as Butte hall. Whitney hall is also right across from Sutter and its the closest hall to the student parking lot.

Observation post 2

The area that I chose to do the auditory observation is in the 7th floor lobby of Whitney Hall. Usually in the afternoon or evening, the lobby is full of socialization but I decided to do my observation in the morning when it's more on the quite side and people are still in their rooms .As I close my eyes and focus my senses on my hearing, I start to notice little details I never really took into account before. The A/C machine is currently humming and you can hear the muffled sounds of people talking in their rooms. Every few minutes you can hear the elevator making its rounds and the "ding" noise the elevator makes every time it stops at a floor. Occasionally people will get off on the seventh floor and there will be a slight amount of socialization than they go they're separate ways. If you listen closely you can also hear the totality of the people playing music on the floor. It sounds moderately busy in the lobby now that I've closed my eyes and focus but as I open them, suddenly it's not so busy anymore. Usually when I'm sitting here in the morning it seems pretty quite and tranquil but when I closed my eyes and actually listened every small detail became evident. For example the slight hum of the A/C machine which is usually undetectable but when I closed my eyes the hum got louder or at least that's what I perceived it to be.

This is the 7th floor lobby at Whitney hall; at night it's one of the most social places to be but during the early hours of the morning it's one of the most tranquillant places to be. This is where I go every morning to reflect upon my thoughts and be at peace with myself. Every morning the sun peaks over the lining of trees and it creates a truly euphoric sight.
