Rooms Rooms Rooms!

I reblogged My Room in Motion, Rock Land, and the post made by shelbyangushumn220. The primary reason why I chose these videos were simply because they were posts all made by females showing their bedroom as their space. These correlate to me since I am a female with my bedroom designated as my space.

So in My Room in Motion, I realized I reblogged one of her previous posts because we have a very similar setup with the furniture in our rooms. However I rebloggedx her post this time because of her room’s simplicity and tidiness. Everything seemed to have a designated area, her perfume bottles on the right side of her dresser, jewelry on the left. She too has a water bottle on her night stand!

In Rock Land, I liked how she was one of few who spoke in her video (like me). I feel like it gives the video/space more personality than plain text. Her dresser is very cluttered like mine with feminine products and a light up mirror. She has two rock and roll band posters on her walls, whereas I have two posters of the same R&B singer. Our bed sets also show similarity with the color choice of gray and white. She also mentions at the very beginning that the curtain hiding her closet opens up her space.

In the post by shelbyangushumn220, she has music playing in the background which shows her taste in music. I liked her collage of photos on her closet door. The all black furniture and black bedding gives her room a dark feel to it, compared to the other two rooms which were bright with whites. She too has two posters on her walls, but one is related to music, the other to a hockey team. She always has a cup on her night stand, probably with water! ;)

The video of Kendall Hall,

I decided to read the description of the video before watching it. Yes, I enjoyed watching the video, but the description of the space completes the video. The way the author describes their space within the video captures the image of our campus perfectly. I enjoyed reading about the landscape of Chico State being a determining factor in choosing this school. Right now it is fall, and that is the best time of year to be able to see and capture the beauty of our campus because the colors are phenomenal. Not many observational posts have a lot of depth to them, but this one does. I like the connection of why he chose this campus because this is something not only I can relate to, but every other student here at Chico. Chico is a beautiful small town and being a local, I have learned to appreciate all the beauty it has to offer, but not everyone tends to appreciate this place as much as they should. This video and description does our campus justice and shows what it has to offer us. The only thing that I think should be added to this post, was a title.  A title says everything about a piece of work.

  “All who wander are not lost”

I didn’t think of having music in the background of my video, but after watching this video, I wish I would have. The music that plays along this video gives the audience watching it a sense of connection within the space. It is hard to believe how much free space this person has to be free. I enjoyed watching all the different animals close up in the video, it felt like I was actually there. I also thought that the title of the post connected well with the space of choice. I saw that there were comments in the video about the space, but I think it would have been better to add some more commentary about the video in the description of the post.

  “Roaming in Roses”

This video shows a part of campus that most people rarely stop to enjoy. The title of the video says it all. Throughout the video, the person is literally roaming in roses. All you see the entire video are all the different color of roses that are apart of this space. Right now is one of the perfect times to video the roses, because fall is coming to an end, and once winter is here the roses won’t be as apparent as they are now. The video does kind of seem repetitive because all you see are roses the entire time, but I think the person did the best they could have done with their space.

I chose to dig deeper in to Jared’s library post due to the different way the space was represented. At first, I thought that the library would have been more occupied than what is shown his video. Just as Jared stated, “this Wednesday happened to be the night of game 7 of the world series, so chances are most of the Giants fans were absent because they were celebrating.” I also appreciated Jared’s video because it represents a different view. I have visited the library many times and have occupied many spaces in that building. Nevertheless, even though I have been in several different areas in the library, every seat in that building has a different view.  I believe he got a great perspective, and I think his posts is similar to mine due to the fact that in our videos both of our spaces look very calm and subtle, but can also be occupied differently. I also chose the walk by the river due to the scenery that she included in her post. She stated that it was not her original space, but I believe it was interesting how she included her friends in her video, and also how she used a natural setting to take us to a new place. I could relate to this post due to the fact that our videos were both outdoors, and also because the setting of our spaces did not only focus on the objects or structures in our video, but also the environment that surrounds them.

I chose to reblog the post by Shelby Angus, Marissa Cervantez, and Where the River Flows.

The first post that I re-blogged was Where the River Flows.  I chose to reblog this particular post because I really like the creek at Chico State.  It is so nice to have it flowing through the middle of campus, and I think a lot of people forget about it or take it for granted.  It is a nice calming place to sit and study or read a book.  It is a great aspect to the campus that little to no other colleges have, and it is one of the reasons that Chico State's campus is unique.  This post is related to mine in the way that they are both calming and quiet.

The second post that I re-blogged was the one by Shelby Angus.  I have been re-blogging her posts over the course of the semester, because they are very similar to mine.  Her video was taken the same way that mine was because we are both walking around our bedrooms videoing different aspects of it.  I have been in her room in person, and I think this is a good representation of all the important things in it.  Both of our rooms have the same purple color scheme and we both consider them calming and relaxing spaces where we can do homework and watch tv.

The third post that I re-blogged was was posted by Marissa Cervantez.  Her video was of her walking to her space, which looks like it is in Upper Bidwell Park somewhere.  I re-blogged this because I am from Chico and love going to Bidwell Park.  It looks like her video was taken at bear hole or another swimming hole around there.  I liked the way she took her video not of her space but of walking to it, I felt like this gave a different perception of her space. This space is not very similar to mine, but that is another reason why I chose to re-blog it, and because it is different from all of the other posts.

The two videos that I chose to reblog were "on the streets" and "walking on sunshine".The reason that I chose these two posts is that while they as well as my space are alike in the fact that they are of the outdoors, they illustrate the vast differences between possible outdoor settings. "walking on sunshine" is the space most similar to mine, as it is of agricultural land like the orchards in the backdrop of my space. This video portrays the passing of time and changing of the seasons as it is made clear that "the trees are losing their leaves" and that there is "more brown in the scenery". "On the streets" is a representation of an urban outdoor setting as storefronts are passed by and numerous people are seen walking the streets. This video represents what the modernized downtown Chico is like during the day. Both of these posts highly revolve around nature and the outdoors, the real difference is how these spaces were changed to serve their purpose. One illustrates the more rural agricultural part of the city, the other illuminates its opposite the concrete streets that form the downtown.

The three videos I re-posted were "Roaming in Roses", "Walking on Sunshine", and  "Out in The Sticks". I chose these three because they all had an obvious connection of being an outdoor space but also they had a connection of a private relaxing space. Although all three of them were outdoors and essentially public spaces all three videos didn't have any other people in them and made the watcher feel relaxed and alone. These videos are in contrast to my own , even though I consider my space to be somewhat private in its own way in the video there were other people that showed it to be a public space. I think all the spaces I re blogged give a sense of calm and quiet except for the occasional sounds. While my space is an eerie kind of quiet that has occasional noise but then drifts back in to a sense of unnatural quiet. Those three spaces give off vibes of rejuvenation being surrounded by nature and its changing ways. I find it to be inspiring while if one were to look at my space it would give off the opposite feeling. Being outdoors feels freeing and is an open area for everyone to join but the fact that all three of these videos had no other people except the ones taking the video makes it seem that they were in their own private area. They had their own version of outdoors while if someone else had taken a video with other people in it it would be just another space.

The Dopest Video Response Ever

       Watching all the videos classmates posted was very intriguing because I was able to see the way everyone acted and reacted to their particular space. I found that everyone’s space is truly different from one another by the way the spaces presented themselves in the individual videos. The one video that caught my eye before I even started watching was the video of the girl and her friends walking through the rock walls at Bear Hole. I have been to Bear Hole several times and I know how fun and refreshing it can be during the summer. This video is very different from mine because in her video she is wandering about in a large space and she decided not to narrate it. However, in my video, I am in my small little yard and I decided to narrate it.

       In another video, a person is filming the creek at Chico State and its surroundings. This video reminded me of The Ancrene Wisse because it reminded me that I do not like how that book had so many rules and regulations. The video seemed to be a happy video where the director was able to see the beauty of the creek and contained the freedom to look wherever he or she wanted and in The Ancrene Wisse the people had to stay in solitary confinement and not look at the evil world outside. I think the main reason I chose to re-blog these videos is because my video takes place outside and so do these and I like feeling free and being able to see the beauty of the outside world.

The first post I chose to reblog was "Where the River Flows." I really liked watching this video and chose to reblog it because it is similar to my video in the way that it shows a nature scene on campus. The person who posted it also chose not to narrate the video, just like I chose not to. One difference between her video and mine is that at the end of the video she showed the Chico State emblem and the building behind it, which I thought added an interesting twist because it perfectly shows how this small piece of nature is situated in the middle of buildings and classrooms. 

The second post I reblogged was from @marissacervantez. I chose this video because it showed an aspect of nature, just like mine and the first video I reblogged did. However, I liked the way she showed a different perspective of the space too. It was interesting to see how she has to get there instead of just what her space looks like. 

The third post that I chose to reblog was "I Spy With My Little Eye." I liked this one because while it showed a space that is outdoors, it was the backyard of what looked like her house. Also, the author pointed out that her space "helps with relaxation and focus" just like my space that I recorded does for me. I like how the three posts I reblogged and my personal post all are places that each poster goes to relax and unwind, but they are all completely different spaces.
