just like garlic, he lied about why he doesn’t drink real blood; it makes him lose control easier and he hates losing control
human’s are the most ‘natural’ prey for vampires and he thinks ericka smells like a snack all the time
he had human ‘lovers’ in the past when he was a crazy teen running around in romania unsupervised ("love em and leave em” style, never being in love, also theyre food)
preying on humans started to make him uncomfortable because they’re sentient
he met martha at a time where he was feeling lost and unsatisfied with his life of running, basically ready to settle down
martha was 118 when they met, and from a much weaker bloodline, so drac was very protective of her
they married and had mavis quickly, within maybe 5 years
drericka: (ht4 may obliterate all of this but i’ll leave it)
they marry the winter after they meet (so like 5-6 months after ht3′d end)
ericka is turned the night of their wedding, putting their honeymoon on hold until the process is over
they had a pre-wedding trip to an alpine resort to preemptively make up for it, upon ericka’s request
