I would like to draw attention to @ayooshsworld ‘s fundraiser (vetted here) Ayaa is a teacher and crochet artist, here are some of he creations:
She is raising money for her and her family after their home was destroyed. As of today (11/01) they are nearly halfway to their goal of $35k, and the last donation was 3 hours ago. Please donate or spread this post as far as you can to help a struggling family
I know most of tumblr is thinking about the USA right now. but fuck the nz government right now too. tomorrow, the treaty principles bill, the 'worst, most comprehensive breach of Te Tiriti in modern times' is being introduced to parliament early, because there were activations planned country wide and the cowards decided to pull it forwards. fuck this government. a friend of mine had to go home early, crying. I've been in shock all day since it came out.
check on your Māori friends, e hoa mā. see what they need. see how you can help. everyday, we see and experience racism. from people around us, up to our government. community care will save us.

I will continue to do my part in my community to spread the activism and promote change for the world I want to live in. I want to change the world AND help with the dishes.
And I won’t let an orange pit stain be what stops me from trying to be better.
A link to donate to the ACLU if able and inclined. I know I am
As the Trump administration moves toward the White House, the stakes could never be higher. But the ACLU is ready to fight back!

I don’t usually make these kinda of posts, but I think it is necessary here. @captafabart has been tracing other people’s work and claiming it as his own. More about them down below.
A day ago or so I ran into one of their posts which had a piece that suspiciously resembled a friend’s Ducktales 2017 fanart, and low and behold, the similarities are far more than just coincidental.
Here is captafabart’s drawing compared to the original artist’s. The artist who made the original piece is Rakish Raven. (Will edit later once I find out their actual @, I just don’t remember right now.)
I went ahead and asked captafabart to take down his posts and to credit the original artists. Here is how it went:
As you can see, I told them that tracing was wrong and that he should give credit to the original artists, but they got defensive and blocked me after the conversation.
I thought that would be the end of it, but a friend looking in on the situation also noticed that they traced a comic cover and claimed the art as their own as well. (More will be added with a reblog.)
Every year on this day I prepare to do my crochet courses, but because of the war I lost my dream and my passion 💔😭
My workplace and my workshop were completely destroyed 💔😭 I am here struggling for life to make a living and to evacuate my family. Please do not hesitate to help me. Any small donation may bring me back to life and help me rebuild my life again

Everything feels awful right now but it isn't really. We still don't officially have a winner, but regardless of how the presidential election ends up, I wanted to take a minute and find what lights I can in the 3 a.m. darkness. Here's what I know:
* Kentucky overwhelmingly rejected an attempt to undermine the public education system by offering private school vouchers:
Amendment 2 to allow public funds to go to private and charter school education was rejected universally in Kentucky counties when the Assoc
* Delaware has elected a transgender woman to the House of Representatives, the first out trans person of any gender ever elected to congress:
McBride wins Delaware’s at-large House seat against Republican candidate John Whalen III, a former state police officer
* For the first time in history, two Black women will be serving in the senate at the same time, and they are only the fourth and fifth Black women ever elected to the senate:
Democrats Lisa Blunt Rochester from Delaware and Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland both saw victories
* New York State has passed a constitutional amendment enshrining the rights of pregnant people (including the right to an abortion), LGBTQIA+ people, the disabled, immigrants regardless of legal status, and other at-risk groups:
The constitutional amendment faced a tougher-than-expected fight after a right-wing campaign against anti-discrimination protections.
* Democrat Josh Stein has beaten self-avowed Nazi Mark Robinson to become governor of North Carolina:
Stein is the current attorney general and he noted his work winning opioid settlements. But it was controversy over Robinson’s inflammatory
That's everything I know off the top of my head. It's not many bright spots, but it's not zero. I'm going to try to find more and I'll add them to the post. It's the only thing I can think of to do that isn't sobbing and throwing up or looking up Canadian immigration rules.
If you know more good news, I encourage you to add it in reblogs.
* Nevada has amended their constitution to guarantee abortion rights, overturning a state ban:

* Colorado has passed amendment 79, guaranteeing the right to an abortion, with more than a 20 point spread between the Yes and No vote:
This means that now, the right to an abortion is codified into the state constitution and a future state legislature cannot restrict it.
* Maryland Question 1, also focused on reproductive rights and abortion, has passed as well: https://www.cnn.com/election/2024/results/maryland/issue-1
Question 1 on the Maryland ballot offers voters the choice to enshrine reproductive rights in the state’s constitution. View the 2024 ballot
* Likewise, Amendment 3 has passed in Missouri, overturning a near-total ban to add reproductive rights to the state constitution:
Missourians voted to enshrine reproductive health rights into the state’s constitution Tuesday by voting yes on Amendment 3.
* Arizona Proposition 139 to protect abortion rights also passed:

Youssef Al-Habeel, who is displaced with his family from Gaza, is seeking support to ensure their safety and well-being. Their son, Majd, suffers from a severe respiratory illness that can not be treated in Gaza. The family is in makeshift tents in Rafah, and the funds raised will be used for safe relocation, medical expenses, and basic necessities. Your generosity will help them escape the horrors of war.
if you're feeling powerless right now—and god knows I am—here's a reminder you can donate to the National Network of Abortion Funds, the Trans Law Center, Gaza Soup Kitchen, the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, and hundreds of other charities that will work to mitigate the damage that has been and will continue to be inflicted
life continues. we still have the capacity to do good, important work. that matters
refraining from a lot of election joke posting and instead I just donated $55 USD to gaza soup kitchen and i encourage anyone else to consider donating even a couple of dollars to the people who will be affected the most from whatever outcome happens
Fadel Aldani @fadel-aldani and his family were injured when their home was bombed, and they were forced to travel in dangerous conditions to reach a hospital for treatment.
Fadel was severely injured by shrapnel in the bombing of his home. While the doctors where able to remove some of it, some shrapnel still remains in his body. It causes him constant pain, and endangers his life, but the supplies for the surgery to remove it are not available in Gaza right now.
€453 / €10,000
Fadel has been fundraising since September, but he has only reached a tiny fraction of his goal! He needs your help to be able to pay for medical treatment, and to evacuate to recieve surgery when the border opens.
Please, share and donate. Help Fadel survive. No one deserve to live in constant pain and fear like this. Please give whatever you can. Any amount, no matter how small, makes a difference.

My heart is broken after my home was destroyed due to the war in Gaza 😢. All I dream of is escaping this tragic situation with my family so we can resume our lives and continue my studies.
Look at our house, how beautiful it was. My father worked hard to build it, and now it has turned to ashes due to the Israeli bombing. Imagine that we were inside it at the time of the bombing and we miraculously survived, while my cousin Maria, who was only 13 years old, was martyred 💔😭..
What was once a dream has turned into a nightmare, and I need your help to raise funds on "GoFundMe." Any donation, no matter how small, can light up hope and make a difference in our lives 💫🙏.
