please spend a little bit of today researching residential schools. even if you arent canadian i implore you to take a look anyway.
here are some charities you can donate to support survivors of residential schools
other Canadian indigenous charities
a really great book to read on the topic of residential schools is Ind*an horse by richard wagamese, its really eye opening and is just utterly heartbreaking to read. like seriously such a great book, im not eloquent enough to tell you how spectacular it is. theres a version movie also (which is less in depth than the book but i still wept while viewing it)
omfg im literally bawling typing this. just straight up crying. while today is a great day to celebrate canada and its multiculturalism, social values and natural beauty we must also keep in mind the indigenous people who were slaughtered and had their land taken from them for us to get here.
please take a moment to educate yourself on our countries history and please donate if you can. keep the survivors and their families in your mind as you undergo festivities. also be safe and do not drunk drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE DONT DRUNK DRIVE
also important note rose is drinking the strawberry banana smoothie that was discontinued in 2014(?). tim hortons bring that shit back please
edit// apparently this post was marked as mature? im not sure what that means but i guess it is effectively shadowbanned. reblogs are appreciated, ect.
