If elements of the trauma are replayed again and again, the accompanying stress hormones engrave those memories ever more deeply in the mind. maybe this is controversial, and maybe even a point that doesn't really matter that much in the bigger picture, but i don't think you can do rocky horror justice if you try to "modernize" it. it should always be set in the 70s. it's the only time the story makes sense. your production should reflect that.
