“So, absolutely wonderful in a fabulous pair of shoes?” A smirk pulled at the smaller vampire’s lips as she looked down at the other woman. In all actuality, there wasn’t much to keep the vampire’s head above the clouds, as the sun was usually there, but letting the little things weigh her down wasn’t something Alice liked to portray to others. It was what it was. She had to make the most of what she could, and these days, things were genuinely looking better. “I’m fantastic, thank you! I’ve recently returned from a much needed vacation, there’s reason to smile, and Nordstrom currently has a sale going on that I will be attending to online later. I’ve got no complaints in my book!“
"Something like that." Surely Alice heard of the incident involving the human in the area since her arrival back home. It wasn't a secret among the supernatural since someone had attacked an innocent in the area. Either way, she chose not to dwell on the matter in fear someone would notice her liking for the human and try to intervene. "You say that as if you wouldn't shop at Nordstrom if there wasn't a sale." Laughing bubbled from inside her chest as golden hues glanced at the other. "How was your vacation?"
“I would be safer, but staying inside when the sun’s hiding, for the rest of my life, doesn’t really seem ideal.” She offered up a one shouldered shrug. Her job meant she had to be outdoors, or more so that she chose to be outdoors to do it. While she still may be a bit skittish when it came to nightfall, Cassie wasn’t going to let the attack bog her down; life had to go on! “Oh, I’ll be roaming whether it’s out shining bright or tucked behind a blanket of clouds. I’ve got a job to do! My battle wound is – thankfully in a spot I cannot see all too well unless I’m looking in a mirror. It’s fine, though.”
It was almost comical how the roles were slightly reversed. Gwen had to stay inside when the sun wasn't hiding and here she was hinting that Cassie should do the opposite. There was a still a part of her that wondered what Cassie would be like as one of her own; had she not stopped the venom from spreading. Rolling onto her side, the blonde propped her head up in the palm of her hand and diverted her eyes to the area where the mark was. "Personally, I think it makes you even more beautiful. Shows what you've overcome." Not many would be able to deal with what they went through as easily as the ginger had.
“If we do get on each other nerves, we usually distance ourselves from each other. Or at times we fight each other if it gets too bad, then to apologize we make something for the other, kind of like a cycle.” Zafrina said, putting her hair to one side. “That actually sounds like fun. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve found in a cause of death?“
"Sounds like a real family to me!" Though her human family had never really fought she did see that most peoples did. It was actually rather charming, in her opinion, because it meant they were so passionate about something they were willing to fight for it. Even if that something wasn't worth the fight to others. "The weirdest thing? There have been many. Far too many." SHe laughed. "I had a series of bodies once, four to be exact, who all had half a dozen barbie doll heads in their intestines and stomachs. It wasn't the cause of death but it was definitely out of the ordinary."
“So far it seems pretty cool. There’s interesting people. Sure it smells kinda off, but I don’t really have anything bad to say about this place. Are you a local?”
"Everyone has their own unique smell, that's for sure. I'm not. I'm Moscow born and raised but lived in Philly for a few years before relocating here. Where are you from?"
“There’s still a number of days left of summer, though,” Cassie mused before dropping down on to her back. She had completely invaded the blonde’s personal space once she sat down, so she figured she should at least make herself comfortable, if Gwen wasn’t disturbed by it. “I did.” While the scientist had been out of her house a few times since everything happened, it was only in short bursts. Today seemed like a good enough day to actually venture. “I was beginning to go a little stir crazy, and while the sun may not be shining bright, there’s still a certain safety that day time offers.” A light sigh slipped past her lips.
It was amusing that Cassie thought there to be a lot of summer days left. In this area summer was shorter than most. Well, the sunshine and warmth that is. Gwen was very happy to ignore said days in the comforts of her home or the morgue most the time. "You would be safer when the suns out." She replied without giving it much thought. "The nocturnal stay indoors." A smirked curled on her lips. "Which means the next few days you’re safe to roam about. How is your battle wound?"
With Zafrina’s personality, making small talk wasn’t common for her, she’d rather be off somewhere else, exploring. But – this was fun, talking and hearing others say on life. “We were all best friends before turned, then Kachiri left, being turned first and came back for us – we’ve together for about three hundred years.” She explained. “Most other covens or vampires don’t know of our existence, due to how quiet we are.” Zafrina tilted her head. “That’s the place where they keep the deceased, right?”
Wow. Gwen was impressed. It was always intriguing to learn how other covens came to be, as long as they didn't offer a threat to her lifestyle. The Volturi she could careless about. "I have a feeling I would grate someones nerves after the first hundred." Laughing, she sat back in the chair and crossed one leg over the other. "That is exactly right. I'm the Chief Medical Examiner so it's my job to cut into the deceased to find cause of death." A scent that bothered most humans but was comforting to the blonde.
When the sun was away, Alice could come out and play – or aimlessly wander through town with a little pep in her step. With the threat of exposure at bay, the pixie-like vampire took to streets clad in something a little more weather appropriate for the middle of July. Spotting the blonde perched upon a blanket, she made her way over towards Gwen hopping every other step with a smile. “Hiya,” her voice chirped as she landed at the edge of the blanket. “How are you on this fine day?”
The perky voice of Alice never ceased to amaze Gwen. While she understood the vampires love for a cheery disposition, the brunette never seemed to be negative... ever. How was someone happy and content all the time? Perhaps the medical examiner was just a pessimist due as of late. "Same as I am every day." She replied with a lift to her tone to prove it was meant playfully. "How are you?"
It was rather upsetting that the other woman and her kind couldn’t be out in the sun. However pale the red head was, Cassie was still a fan of the blazing ball; she couldn’t imagine being forced away from it. “Hm,” she hummed, glancing over in Gwen’s direction. “We may have to just find you a spot that you can venture off to, even if the sun’s out. That way you can enjoy the shapes and question your sanity when you see things like dragons fighting the Michelin man.”
"From what I understand, the sun wont be out much come fall so it seems rather pointless." The medical examiner shrugged with a smile on her face. While she believed that everyone should stop and smell the roses this really wasn't on her top list of 'want to do's in life. "You finally ventured out of your house." The statement was light due to the event that occurred forcing the woman to barricade herself away to begin with.
It had been a rather quiet day for the red head as she took on a late start and had yet to do anything productive. She needed out of the house, though, so after composing herself as best as she could, Cassie made her way out into town with a smile on her face. However weird things were these days, she did have a few reasons to smile; one of which was planted on a blanket that she was rounding on. Gwen seemed to have been her saving grace these, and she was thankful for the bit of sunshine. Slowly making her way over, she lowered herself down alongside the woman and leaned back on her palms. “Find anything good?” Blue eyes cast up towards the sky.
The delicious smell of Cassie hit Gwen before the woman was even in eye sight. Why did she have to smell so damn good all the time?! Licking her lips, the blonde calmed herself by trying to find shapes in the sky above. Maybe she should have fed before venturing in public today. "It's all one big blanket so no." She replied with a smirk. "The days with the bunny and airplane clouds floating through the sky aren't ones you will find me out and about." Arching a brow playfully, she glanced at the other woman before turning her attention back to the sky.
“It’s fine. If anything I’ll just wander around until I see it. It’ll give me an excuse to get used to this place. Nice to meet you, Gwen. I’m Poppy.”
"Hopefully you enjoy it. Forks is a lovely little town. Quaint, quiet for the most part, full of friendly face. It's lovely to meet you!"
A cloudy day was one to celebrate for vampires. Lately, Forks had been blazing with full blown sun which left them locked away. Today was cloudy with no chance of rain which meant it was perfect to be out and about. Gwen found herself at the public park, sitting on a picnic blanket sans actual picnic, looking at pages in a novel without actually taking in the words. The recent discovering of her daughter turned vampire had her frazzled. Closing the book, she tossed it to the side and laid back to gaze at the clouds above; hoping to find solace in her surroundings.
“Two blocks that way and then a right on Grand street. Gotcha. Thanks…Sorry what’s your name?”
“Shouldn’t be hard to find. Unless my directions are off and in that case I’m going to feel horrible! I’m Gwen. You are?”
“Well then I will hold off on telling you until you’re ready.” He chuckled amused to see that the womans blood was calling out to his vampiric friend. Chasing after the stag he smiled. “See you after the kill.”
"That will be never." She remarked before taking off after her doe. It was all too easy to take the animal and feed off of it. A part of her missed the challenege. Soon she would need to travel somewhere different just to hunt something that would give her a bit of a fight. After draining the animal, she stood and wiped the blood off her lips with the back of her hand. Poor animal. She really hated taking lives of others; including animals.
“I mean, it bothers me, but I’d rather suffer than make another human suffer you know?” The blonde walked besides her mother, listening and nodding. “What’s the morgue like?” She asked, half curious, half trying to get herself time to determine whether or not she wanted to ask, to her, kind of offense question. “Do you have like…another family here? Like a vampire one? I mean it’s okay if you do mom, like you said we all needed to move on. I’m not mad or anything, I’m just curious.” Just curious, and lonely. It had been hell for Alessa being completely on her own after growing up in such a close family.
"It seems we are alike even in immortality." Gwen hadn't been one to enjoy taking anothers life to feed which is why she switched to an animal diet soon after her turn. Though, she had taken out a few dozen during her struggles. "The morgue is a lot slower than the one in Philly." Laughing, she shook her head. The big city hussle and bussle kept her busy in her human life, the small town kept her rather idle as there weren't many deaths. "I don't so there's not reason for you to even be concerned. I've been on my own for years now." The idea of a coven didn't sit well with Gewn. She had always been rather independent. Didn't enjoy being told how to live or what to do. "I moved into a larger ranch style home just outside of Forks so most humans, as well as supernaturals, don't even give me a second glance." It was nice to be on her own though it did get rather lonely. As of late, she had been spending a lot of her spare time with a human. "What about you? Are you with a coven now?"
“It really is, before I was turned – I lived in the wrong part, then when I was, I got to be the person I was meant to be.. in a way, free.” She explained, not sure if the other vampire understood what she meant. “There’s three, Senna, Kachiri and then me. Kachiri is our creator, though we are all equal, we never fight, we’re adopted sisters.” A small smile touched her lips. “I’m pretty sure my sense of smell is on overload right now.”
It was nice to hear anothers story of how they came to be. Forks was filled with supernaturals from all over, with different pasts, so it intrigued her how easily they seemed to get along. "I do understand that, to an extent." Unlike most their kind, Gwen wasn't over the moon because of what she had become. Leaving a family behind proved to be extremely difficult. "That's really nice! Have you all be together long?" While she didn't fancy taking a human life she found herself considering changing someone just to have a companion. "The place is full of smells; not all so nice." She laughed. "The morgue is where I do most my work. Smells aren't as intense down there."
